“She got the chance to go through male puberty”…none of this makes any rational sense.
To be clear, I don't care if someone wants to identify as a man, woman, or unicorn, but when it comes to athletic competition, we need to draw a line. To say it's fair for biological men to compete against biological women in an endurance sport is insane. There's a reason swimming is segregated by gender. If men and women competed together, all of the men would crush the women. It's not a level playing field if you choose to ignore the biological realities. And even if Lia Thomas took hormones to suppress his testosterone, that doesn't account for height, lung capacity, bone density, etc. All of these physical advantages stay in-tact post-transition.
don't forget pelvic structure, the way men and womens legs operate is different because of the shape of the pelvic bones, its part of why the top male runners are soooooooo far ahead of the top female runners.
In ANY sport.
So anyone can identify as anything as long as it's not sport related?
@@RetroMMA for proffessional sports that are gendered yeah. For mix gender sports or beer leagues it doesnt really matter.
There’s no medication that changes a man to a woman, this is one of his few classes that didn’t have a debate ,questions ,follow ups or challenging an idea , we just need to bring the T level down yup she’s a girl now.
Going by the allowable testosterone levels, Thomas still has a HUGE advantage over the real women he's competing against. According to the scale the professor displayed, women have .8 to 3 nanomoles of testosterone in their blood.
Even if Thomas gets down to the 5 nanomoles allowed, he'd still have 66 percent more testosterone in his system than the most naturally testosterone heavy woman. Either he has to get down to 3 like the women he competes against, or women competing against him should be allowed to boost their testosterone levels to 5.
Of course, no one dares talk about the elephant in the room, which is that the numbers demonstrate CLEARLY that Thomas is NOT a woman, regardless of what a court of law determines.
And testosterone is just a part of the equation...
LT as a man was not competitive, but as a woman beat the women silver metallist.
Strange way to word it.
@@AZ-kr6ff Stating facts...dude was ranked 477 bascially a nobody as a man but in the women's division dude is world campion record setter without any more effort than before. That is so fair to all the women that worked their whole lives while dude worked his whole life and only 477 ranking in the men's division where he is easily outclass but in the women's division being who he is just naturally will win. It is like Micheal Philps being out class by a seal that identifies as a man. No matter what Micheal does he will never outperform a seal....even an out of shape captive seal will beat him by the nature of being a seal.
People can be Whatever they want, but this situation is Not a EQUAL playing field, can you Imagine Usian Bolt running with the Ladies, they would Not have a chance to win Any race.
seriously? ok im a walrus :0) in your logic "People can be Whatever they want" :0)😁
Not even Usain Bolt. Look at the high school boys track and field championship in Texas. The best women in the world would get crushed by them.
@@DavidJohnson-dp4vv lol
@@DavidJohnson-dp4vv just like US female soccer team lost from 16 years old boys.
Competition is never equal.
That's the whole point of it, to find out who is the best.
All sports are segregated between male and female for a reason. The top women would be merely average over below average among the men in division I swimming competition. As a competitor among othe rmen, Leah Thomas was a faster swimmer than now and was still rated in the middle of the pack. As a competitor against women, she swims slower and still wins.
How many would usian bolt have to drop to run with the women? It’s not always going to be the same for everyone. They need their own league
You know this girl WANTED to say it is not fair, but she is too afraid to speak up about it.
Why are so many kids on their phones not even paying attention?
There are a lot of medical and biological inaccuracies in this discussion. The average male of the same height and weight is 50% to 80% stronger than an average female. I think, Sam possibly for the first time that I’ve seen, is poorly informed and out of his depth on this topic.
To be fair the data he put up was specifically 'average male swimmer' to 'average male' or 'average female swimmer' to 'average female'. I agree maybe he should have mentioned a comparison of male to female but if it was a ladder of 10 steps he was on step 1.
In almost every sport Men dominate women. The solution is either to have no sex based sports or have a third category for anyone. Men competing against women is just not fair or even interesting.
Dr Richards has claimed he doesn't try to force his thinking/positions on his students. But he definitely steers various topics where he wants to go. Choosing to talk abt some aspects of an issue; and conveniently ignoring other relevant facts.
The independent thinkers in the class can easily see what he's doing. 🤔
the question is this: how many independent thinkers are there in his class?
This is common for Dr Richards. He really misses the mark on this topic.
or... LT can just compete with the men... problem solved...
5:06 did he just say she has a biological advantage as a woman, as opposed to lia thomas
😮😮 so he's the reason these confused people force themselves into women sports
I think he meant she has biological advantage in her sport, not compared to Lia
Wow, she's attractive!
Not to stir anything up but in the body building world testosterone is analyzed as well. Something interesting black men can have twice the amount of there white counterparts, if there is a different standard based on testosterone would it be appropriate to separate based upon the amounts?
Why not... Boxing has separated by weight for decades.
Hey , this is not okay !!!
It's not mediocre?
3:23 whatever he's looking at, must have been weird enough...
This guy takes so long to explain simple things it's more like Blues Clues than University.
it’s 15 minutes long.. sounds like you have the attention span of a gold fish
@@st4rryblossom I do have a short attention span but that doesn't change that the teacher uses 15 minutes to say something that could be said in 3 sentences. But hey if Americans want to pay thousands to be talked to like kinder gardeners that's fine with me.
@@zenmaster2418 you’re so lame that you gotta comment twice😂
I love Blue's clues; "We just just got a trans issues, I wonder what we'll do" 😮😅😊
Totally agree that he needs several minutes to just come up with one sentence. He goes back and forth with short phrases and only complete a sentence after several attempts. It is like stuttering but not with words but with whole phrases.
Bored reactions at 12:42 and 7:46 .... i wonder how much bored reactions they decided to cut out. Too bad Jordan Peterson didn't film his students during his lectures so there would be a comparison. Imagine paying thousands of dollars to attend the Blues Clues of University's lectures🤣.
Hey @zen master, we have five cameras around the room and a live video switcher that has students pick which cameras go live. There isn't any editing out "bored reactions." You might imagine that no matter what we talk about, of 700+ students, someone isn't going to be the most interested. Go to any classroom on campus, no matter the subject, and you'll have similar % of reactions, regardless of who is there, what is being said, etc. - J
@@SOC119 Maybe if you sped up your delivery there'd be less boredom. Your entire 15 minute video could've been summarized as "should chicks with dicks be allowed to compete in swimming? We'll probably know in the future"
I think that relativism has given people a distorted perception of reality.
Not every process is reversible, if you drop a glass on the ground, no matter how much effort and energy you're going to poor in, you'll never get back the original intact one. So no matter what, Lia Thomas will always have an unfair advantage, that's why she'll be in the top rank in female competitions, though she was less than average among male swimmers.
Is she unbeatable? No, cause she was not a top male swimmer, but her lack of talent and commitment, compared to other athletes, is fully compensated by her switching categories, it's not an opinion, it's just what happened.
You forgot the 2 real factors to make competition fair in this case….a Time Machine and a CRISPR machine. One to go back in time and the other to change him to a her on a chromosomal level
that professor IS hypocrite no want to offend SAY THE WORDS
basically long story short...in basketball terms....as a guy,he was 12 player on NBA team, that no one knows, only die hard basketball fans....and he says ''i am a women' and now he Lebron James talent player...
