To be clear, I don't care if someone wants to identify as a man, woman, or unicorn, but when it comes to athletic competition, we need to draw a line. To say it's fair for biological men to compete against biological women in an endurance sport is insane. There's a reason swimming is segregated by gender. If men and women competed together, all of the men would crush the women. It's not a level playing field if you choose to ignore the biological realities. And even if Lia Thomas took hormones to suppress his testosterone, that doesn't account for height, lung capacity, bone density, etc. All of these physical advantages stay in-tact post-transition.

don't forget pelvic structure, the way men and womens legs operate is different because of the shape of the pelvic bones, its part of why the top male runners are soooooooo far ahead of the top female runners.

Going by the allowable testosterone levels, Thomas still has a HUGE advantage over the real women he's competing against. According to the scale the professor displayed, women have .8 to 3 nanomoles of testosterone in their blood.
Even if Thomas gets down to the 5 nanomoles allowed, he'd still have 66 percent more testosterone in his system than the most naturally testosterone heavy woman. Either he has to get down to 3 like the women he competes against, or women competing against him should be allowed to boost their testosterone levels to 5.
Of course, no one dares talk about the elephant in the room, which is that the numbers demonstrate CLEARLY that Thomas is NOT a woman, regardless of what a court of law determines.

That is so fair to all the women that worked their whole lives while dude worked his whole life and only 477 ranking in the men's division where he is easily outclass but in the women's division being who he is just naturally will win. It is like Micheal Philps being out class by a seal that identifies as a man. No matter what Micheal does he will never outperform a seal....even an out of shape captive seal will beat him by the nature of being a seal.

All sports are segregated between male and female for a reason. The top women would be merely average over below average among the men in division I swimming competition. As a competitor among othe rmen, Leah Thomas was a faster swimmer than now and was still rated in the middle of the pack. As a competitor against women, she swims slower and still wins.

There are a lot of medical and biological inaccuracies in this discussion. The average male of the same height and weight is 50% to 80% stronger than an average female. I think, Sam possibly for the first time that I’ve seen, is poorly informed and out of his depth on this topic.

To be fair the data he put up was specifically 'average male swimmer' to 'average male' or 'average female swimmer' to 'average female'. I agree maybe he should have mentioned a comparison of male to female but if it was a ladder of 10 steps he was on step 1.

Dr Richards has claimed he doesn't try to force his thinking/positions on his students. But he definitely steers various topics where he wants to go. Choosing to talk abt some aspects of an issue; and conveniently ignoring other relevant facts.
The independent thinkers in the class can easily see what he's doing. 🤔

Hey @zen master, we have five cameras around the room and a live video switcher that has students pick which cameras go live. There isn't any editing out "bored reactions." You might imagine that no matter what we talk about, of 700+ students, someone isn't going to be the most interested. Go to any classroom on campus, no matter the subject, and you'll have similar % of reactions, regardless of who is there, what is being said, etc. - J

I think that relativism has given people a distorted perception of reality.
Not every process is reversible, if you drop a glass on the ground, no matter how much effort and energy you're going to poor in, you'll never get back the original intact one. So no matter what, Lia Thomas will always have an unfair advantage, that's why she'll be in the top rank in female competitions, though she was less than average among male swimmers.
Is she unbeatable? No, cause she was not a top male swimmer, but her lack of talent and commitment, compared to other athletes, is fully compensated by her switching categories, it's not an opinion, it's just what happened.
