I have had the honor of watching her live in concert twice in Los Angeles and I have to say that she sounds more amazing in person. The only way I can describe it is like this... she is almost always restraining herself from showing us her full power because she can blow the roof off of a concert hall if she really wanted. It's amazing to watch in person to see exactly how she executes her vocal acrobatics - she is a technical genius. Sadly I don't speak Korean but if I did it would give me such a greater understanding of her personally because she tells stories between every song and every time she has the audience laughing but at other parts they are in tears. She is such a consummate performer; so gifted!

Thanks. We can hear some parts that are adjusted, pitch wise, for tv, and other parts that are left as they are. Makes you think and appreciate how hard it is the amount of vocal control required to produce those insane belts, doesn't it? 😁 So, for performances captured by fancams that do capture perfect pitch moments of Sohyang, those are truly the testimony of her insane control at each particular point in time. It's also imperfections, like some shown here, that let us know that the performances were live. Sohyang is beyond legit, it's scary. Brava Queen. 👏👏👏
I didn't notice much pitch adjustment if any. Some things may have sounded off due to the sound, but I bet it was spot on in the room. Depth and volume and other things play tricks on sound.
Finally someone made a video comparing the two. Frankly either way she shows how great a singer she is. The dubbed version is easier to listen to and smoother, particularly the background sounds like the audience are isolated from the singing. The undubbed is definitely rawer and harder to focus on but a lot of dynamic and energy. I found pluses in both but the constant is Sohyang.
Speaking of only her high notes, when I heard them LIVE in person, they were incredibly clear, resonant and flawless like a well polished diamond and they did sound good to my ears.
I do feel sorry for So Hyang - every time she sings the expectation now is that she give us some high 5th octave notes, when she is a superb singer in her soft lower register.
She's a high soprano so naturally she will be more comfortable singing "high". Not to say that her lower register is bad, which is so far from the truth, but it isn't as well developed as her upper register. But yeah, I LOVE her soft lower register. Very very underappreciated.

Sohyang built her singing career from performing in churches and other sub-par venues where she managed to sing without a luxury of quality systems (I think this explains why she is often seen performing without in-ear monitor and being able to control volumes while holding the microphone in the same position). No wonder why she sounds awesome live!

she is singing some of the most demanding songs you can think of. Look at the Whitney song, she sang that immediately after singing Dream - holy hell - that's like running two marathons. She is a real warrior. And undubbed you can see how freakin hard it is and how much effort it is taking to sing like that. Quesiton is - in the west people pay money to hear popular singers lip-sync.
Not a very fair statement as many of them also dances at the same time. When you dance, you will need to have some backup to stabilise your voice. People pay money to watch the whole package which includes being close to their idol, their dance moves, their interaction time, the stage, the musicians and the atmosphere. Their idol can sing as demonstrated in their recordings. So, they are there not for the singing (which is usually non-existent) with the crowd shouting and singing along. That is how idols/diva get away with lip synching.
... Bold of you to assume that western vocalists *always* lipsync. I can agree with you on Sohyang practically running two marathons, though. Up on the fifth octave for pretty much an entire song climax and for everything after. She has some insane vocal stamina.
Better make this clear since many people don't understand the technical difficulty of live singing. The problem with singing live, and why you see singers with ear plugs, then they toss them out..nothing really works, except an ideal acoustical fashioned stage (opera stages - the orchestra is also in Front of the stage, not the back - similar in King of Masked Singers - which would have made it easier for the singers).....there is a mixture of feedbacks from the front and the back and sides coming back into your ears as you try to maintain your mental tonal position - it is very very difficult to maintain the tonal flow. This is why you see so many singers lip-sync., and why some singers cannot sing live in tune at all. So Hyang is brilliant at singing live - oh course you will get a micro tone out here or there - it is impossible to not have this in live singing from time to time. I've even seen some of the highest rated Opera singers stuff it up, even miss a note and just produce air...but thats the business.

Some of these arent actually dubbed. Not fully at least. Apart from the broadcast audio being of higher quality, pitch correction is the only thing they do. And yes some reverb on immortal songs. Its crazy how she sounds the same though. We have fancams of nearly all her performances on immortal songs, I am a singer and king of mask singer so no one can deny what she can do.

for those of you who still confused about this "undubbed" technique. basicaly, they record the vocal and the music saperately, so there is vocal and music...what they doin is they edit the vocal track and pitch corecting it..after that they combined the vocal music and the video...
In this context, how is the word dubbed used? It is pretty evident that both live performance clips for the songs are the same, with the TV broadcast version having minor touch-ups. I thought that dubbing (Lip-Dub) means to have parts that are pre-recorded, instead of live (like lipsynching). This is helpful to me. Sometimes I work too hard and speak too long making a minor point. This posting has shown me how repeating such minor observations serves little purpose to most listeners. My ears can discern a couple of cents flat from auto-tuned precision yet there is only one note in this entire video that might benefit from software. But at what cost? The energy required to belt successively bigger moments throughout a concert can rarely be sustained. On their best voice days, few singers alive could deliver a performance equal to hers on her worst day. The time spent converting the undubbed to B&W video, editing and sequencing the clips proves she has an extraordinary natural voice. If undubbed means no Pro Tools, then a studio mixing of all instrumental sounds is also missing for just those B&W clips - yet Sohyang still makes musical phrasing that moves anyone with a pulse. Yes, I speak too long so I'll stop there.

I think dubbing refers to edits in post production like pitch correction, reverb, autotune etc

@@MariosPOS I'm very sure it's not. I think the upolader used the wrong word. Because the word dub means to voiceovee something and since she didn't voiceover anything here, it's not dubbed
I always thought that Asian audiences were quite muted compared to Europeans or Americans... But its seems from the undubbed versions they just get muted out by the network.

중간에 나는가수다 레전드 2015 영상 i have nothing, 꿈 두 영상은 음향의 울림을 휴대폰 영상에서 다 못담아낸건지 어떤 현장 영상에서는 잘 들리는데 어떤 영상에서는 날라가는걸로 보아선 현장에서는 정말 정확했던걸로 보여요. 그리고 꿈 마지막 D6는 들어보시면 소향님 음뿐만 아니라 백보컬분들 음정도 다 날라가는걸로 보아선 음향의 문제였던거라고 보입니다. 애초에 그 날 소향님 컨디션 자체가 너무 좋아보이시기에 소향님 기량에 저 정도 고음을 날리시는건 말이 안돼요 ….
This is helpful to me. Sometimes I work too hard and speak too long making a minor point. This posting has shown me how repeating such minor observations serves little purpose to most listeners. My ears can discern a couple of cents flat from auto-tuned precision yet there is only one note in this entire video that might benefit from software. But at what cost? The energy required to belt successively bigger moments throughout a concert can rarely be sustained. On their best voice days, few singers alive could deliver a performance equal to hers on her worst day. The time spent converting the undubbed to B&W video, editing and sequencing the clips proves she has an extraordinary natural voice. If undubbed means no Pro Tools, then a studio mixing of all instrumental sounds is also missing for just those B&W clips - yet Sohyang still makes musical phrasing that moves anyone with a pulse. Yes, I speak too long so I'll stop there.

You comments are silly. Dubbed means lip syncing like a lot of American singers. You mean fan cam videos compared to thru a sound system.
