  • First Tsunami Waves Hit Japan After 7.6 Magnitude Earthquake
Tsunami waves hit Japan's coasts after a series of powerful earthquakes. The strongest earthquake measuring 7.6 struck Ishikawa prefecture in central Japan. Authorities say hazardous waves up to 5 metres were expected. The Japanese MeT office said that 21 earthquakes above 4.0 magnitude hit Japan.

Lived in north Japan where there were tremors recorded almost daily. When larger quakes hit, we learned to think rather than panic, pick up the pieces, and help each other to recover.

It’s amazing how the Japanese have built their buildings to withstand earthquakes. That parking garage was visibly wiggling, as were all the cars swaying dramatically, but it didn’t collapse.

I’m amazed at how well everyone reacted. Still, my heart goes out to Japan. I’m terrified of tsunamis and scared of bad earthquakes. It makes me sad seeing all of this happen, but it’s incredible to watch how everyone comes together and works it out. Then picks up where things have fallen. Stay strong Japan! I believe that the many thoughtful comments about Japan will encourage the victims of this disaster. I would like to thank you here on their behalf. Since the affected area is in the middle of winter and heavy snowfall, it is especially difficult to spend time in shelters at night, and the level of requests for assistance is expected to be very high. I am sure that many people will start to call for donations and volunteers for the reconstruction of the affected areas, and I would be very grateful if you could give them a little bit of your heart.

In Japan, people have been trained since childhood on what to do in the event of an earthquake. Even so, in an earthquake larger than 5 on the Japanese seismic scale, it is difficult to even stand or move. Quickly bend over and keep your center of gravity low. However, the real fear is the tsunamis, fires, landslides, etc. that will occur afterwards.

Staying calm and attending to group needs is their number one rule.
