In response to all of the comments. We purchased this vessel about a year ago. We renamed her Wine-N-Down. We first saw the boat at the seattle boat show. This video doesn’t do the construction and features of this boat justice. The floor plan is perfect. The features and construction are the best quality. We’ve upgraded the electronics. That was the only improvement that was needed. After cruising her this summer I can honestly say we wouldn’t change anything. The previous owners did a fantastic job of designing the floor plan. The construction is the best and they only used the best components. This is our fourth boat. The plan is to spend our summers cruising the inland waters of Washington, BC and Alaska. Can't believe this packs so much into 55'. This has to be one of the most well thought out designs I've ever seen in a similar size class.
Right?? I love that they took their time showing everything with this boat.. sooo much to show.
Then there is a Jacuzzi and helipad too on a 55ft boat..
I have never seen a 55 ft. with so many features. Love the amount of fuel it holds to go to Hawaii and back is amazing. I do not think another 55 ft boat would do it unless the same design. Either stateroom is nice enough to be the master. Plenty of room everywhere and I simply cannot think of anything I would change.

Jay Benford is famous for his well thought out designs, regardless of size or type of vessel. Much of his life has been spent living aboard boats, and it shows.

I had the pleasure of a private tour by the original owner when the boat was in Alaska. He had his Robinson helicopter aboard at the time. It is a beautiful craft as described. Thanks for the great video.

I've actually been aboard this boat on a trip to Alaska. We saw it sitting in the marina in one of the small towns, I believe Ketchican..? Anyway, the owners were outside so we struck up a conversation and they were so nice to invite us on board. As others have said, a truly one of kind boat. Beautiful and very solid and with the nicest owners ever.
I find the design cute, like it was from a kids' cartoon. It also looks quite tough, like it could easily break through at least 3-5 inches of ice.

I've been on this boat at the Seattle Boat Show, and it is nicer than the video shows. It's solid as a rock, and feels more like an actual house. The mechanical room is amazing!!! Like a man-cave.

It's a Florida Bay Coaster. These we're my dad's dream boat. I remember seeing ads back in the day. They ran a promotion were if you bought the boat they gave you a jeep for a penny.
@@christopherrobinson8676 WOW very cool. I love boats but the costs to maintain them is astronomical. I think in the case of having a jeep is that since they were somewhat inexpensive you can buy a newer one every several years since the salt water would be murder on that vehicle.
It definitely would be a pretty penny. Not just to buy and then maintain, but also when you want to go anywhere. I never thought of the cheap and easy to repair/ replace aspect of the jeep. I thought it was more geared towards being able to motor down Caribbean/Mexico/ South America zone and get around the dirt roads.
Jay, you are the best yacht salesman ever! I see videos for 165 ft superyachts that are 7 minutes long. How could they possibly do justice to a boat that large in 7 minutes. You spend nearly 45 minutes showing us a 55 ft trawler and really getting into detail and being so thorough. I love that! And you show the boats out on the water too - not just at dock. And isn't that the best way to show a boat - in its natural environment? The environment it was made for! The others could really learn a few lessons for you. Your obvious love for the boats and boating really comes through! Thanks for your great videos.

@max nex the master stateroom appears to be mostly beneth the waterline, so no, there are no windows behind those screens, just light boxes
The thing looks almost like plain Jane Trawler but just like that and the color scheme is pastel not loud at all people might say Ho Hum. I almost don't have a vocabulary for how conservative and yet functional and super luxury... There really isn't a word for something that is as beautiful as it is functional and yet as plain Jane as it is it is still appealing. I guess I'm getting old when I would prefer something that looks like an old fishermans boat... But I mean the damn thing grows on ya the more ya look at it the more perfect it looks to me...
What an outstanding boat. Large enough to be very comfortable, nice design, maintained, not overly large. Two folks could handle this vessel just fine.
I've watched this video a couple of times now; this is one of my favorite boats of all time. The proportions and lines are beautiful, but the amount of thought involved in organizing so much function into so little space frankly astounds me. It's a boat built to live on, the perfect amount of space for each task. A bed you can walk around, an engine room you don't have to be a contortionist to change a filter. And no wasted space either, each area is tailored to its function perfectly. In short I love it!

love Jay Benfords work , built a kit-form 22" tug yacht a few years ago , and was able to sail her quite happily on the sea ,deep hull , good bows and loads of character , sorry I sold her now .
That's one very nice boat. Rugged, well thought out, but no goofy decorations or designs.
It's not goofy by contemporary standards. It is beautiful if you are conservative. Even the pastel colors are neat. The interior is what makes the statements. I am very impressed. The craftsmanship leaves the Italian boats in the dirt.
Incredible maintenance and detailing. It's hard to believe the boat was 12 years old when this was filmed.

Nice to see a craft that looks designed to be tough and manages to be beautiful as well, in an older style . If I ever had the money and skill to own a large “yacht” , this would be my pick, so much more appealing than all those ghastly visual nightmares that ply the ritzy ports but , in reality are simply show pieces for service drinks on......

I'm a merchant chief engineer. My father, lord rest him was a master mariner. Imagine the fun times we could have had on this boat. It would have been right up our street. No crew required. The engine room looks like it would be a pleasure to work in.
Out of all the yachts that I've seen, this takes the cake, this is easily my most favorite one yet, I never imagined a helipad on a 55 much less that much of living space. I've seen 60 and 65 footers that can be beaten by this due to the volume of living area this ship has.
Having spent a lot of time on cargo ships, I have to say that I'm most impressed on the sturdiness of this vehicle. Everything about the construction of it says it is a ship, not a yacht. Also look how organized everything is as well as how many cool little ideas were put in it. Wow, very well done.

What a lovely boat. Should I ever win the lottery I will be ringing Richard Evans and buying a boat from him. He makes every boat sound amazing and this is one of my favourite presentations and one of my favourite boats.
This is hands down the best trawler I've ever seen for sale in that price bracket. Simply stunning. I just wish I had the funds to buy is. You'll never need a house again.

Many big company owners are addicted to their power and money and recreation and relaxation is not in their vocabulary. Their work is their life. Sad, unless they say goodbye to it while young enough to get another life.

Those mega-million yachts are pretentious. “Look at me, I’m wealthy” ... this chubby little boat says “I’m relaxed and comfortable”.
OK, the guy that designed this tiny ship is a genius, he has to be to put all this in only 55 feet without being crowded.

He has smaller designs that look the same, only smaller, lol, eg a 35 foot with same look.

It is an excellent small ship with high quality, good taste, and professionalized characteristics for long expeditions. And this gentleman is so relaxed and comfortable makes the presentation very very nice. And, after all, dreams costs nothing, for now is for free, maybe some day we pay dream taxes!!

lecture i listen in crystal clear language. And the absolute best boat that I was able to visit. Really everything like new.

Do you know what I didn’t notice? The production. The camera placement is great. The shots are obviously pre-planned. The audio mix is clear and subtle. The boat is the star even with the host pointing out the features. Well worth the cost of production...congrats.

Made in NZ, and as a New Zealander from Auckland, I can see the design harks back to 1940- 1970s ferry boats we had in Auckland, with the round double story stern, square windows and identical outer bridge design...reminds me of when I was a kid catching the ferry across the harbour..
Absolutely spectacular and unique. I am really impressed by the accuracy of every detail, by the clean lines of each room. Welcoming without ever being excessive. Congratulations to those who have thought of it with particular attention to style and safety and congratulations for those who will be lucky enough to live it.

This boat grabs my attention. I’ve looked at videos of massive pretentious yachts and didn’t get a comfortable feeling. This custom built boat has my idea of comfort. Not sleek on the outside, but actually the more I look at it, the more it grows on me. Looks like a chubby ferry boat. That engine room ... wow, is all I can say. Top notch workmanship.
The salon is wonderful, as you say, like a sitting room at home. Love the fire too. Great galley and fridge/freezer space. Love you enthusiasm too.

Without a doubt this is the most exquisite yacht of form and function that really puts it in a class of its own. On the down side, I imagine you would have to have a highly seasoned captain or a marine engineer to maintain it. This is definitely a sailors’ yacht and not for the weekend warrior with more dollars than sense. I’m glad to hear the new owners are utilizing it to its full potential.
P.S. It also might lure me away from Florida to enjoy some cold water excursions.

This boat is more practicle and beautiful then most 100 million dollar yachts I have seen. I just wish sh de had a shallower draft as I'm in the great lakes but I guess you cant have everything.

This is the type of boat that I like. Very unique
Design. I love this shape and the supreme craftmanship.
Now there is yachting and boating.
If you fancy a shiny gleamy thing with fine lines which you might use a bit, maybe sail out somewhere have a few drinks then there are many alternatives to this boat.
But if you are serious, want to go off for an adventure on the high seas, this is the "must have" boat to own.
The detail in this boat is phenomenal and ticks every box possibly the only thing letting it down is the name of the boat.
I am so pleased I watched this a real education on how to engineer/design a "proper" boat fit for the longer range travels and adventure in comfort.
