I can easily see Brothership succeeding since, while there have been two other Mario RPGs that released recently, both of those were remakes. Brothership is the only one that's a brand new game. Plus, I think the gameplay of each game helps make them stand out from each other.
This person gets it
Us Mario + Luigi fans will need to show up this November!
I think that there is a lower ceiling for how many copies a game can sell at this point in the Switch life-cycle. Don't get me wrong, software sales are still *very* healthy for a system more than 7 years in, but I would say there's less chance for new series entries to break out to larger audiences in the same way they did for the first 4-5 years of the Switch.
I found Paper Mario TTYD less interesting than Super Mario RPG. Playing them back to back made it clear to me RPG was far more challenging and more streamlined. TTYD dragged toward the latter half. That said, I’m stoked for the Mario and Luigi series. I loved the original on GBA and this game looks beautiful and far more action packed.
Although I don't think M&L Brothership will be more difficult than Super Mario RPG. It is more skill based. the combat is designed in such a way that if you are skilled enough you can Dodge all attacks in the game or use a counter attack to do more damage
The Thousand Year Backtrack.
Imagine living in a timeline where someone is saying “we have too many Mario RPGs”
I dont think Nintendo expect 10 million sales from them
As long as all three series feel different, I don't think they'll be stepping on each other's toes.
I still hope the success of Mario RPG-R gets Nintendo and S-E busy in the boudoir on a sequel.
Agree with the video, it's the one i hope doesn't fail sales wise
They’re all different-don’t worry about it, it’s fine
I wholeheartedly disagree with the idea of Mario & Luigi being a replacement for classic Paper Mario. It's precisely why The Thousand-Year Door getting a remake is such a huge deal. I do like Mario & Luigi, but I also like classic Paper Mario more and would choose it if I was forced to make a decision. I want both games to succeed to send a message to Nintendo that Mario RPGs are worth investing in and that they don't need to make one of them into an "action-adventure" series.
Nah prefer any mario&luigi over any paper mario since TTYD
@@xtr.7662 That's why emphasized classic Paper Mario.
It will sell well
It needs to and it shall hope it breaks records and we get more sequels in the future
The art design is impressive and inviting
Considering what Paper Mario producer Risa Tabata said during the lead up to Color Splash, it is safe that Brothership isn't really worth the hype.
Hell yea. Is that even a real question? I don’t play rpgs much but I know a good fun game when I see one
There's no way in hell that ttyd will sell better than origami king, it's sales are already slowing down faster than ok in Japan
To give a counter point to SoH being seen as a “flop”, that’s coning Ubisoft, not Nintendo. Nintendo is a bit more reasonable about what is considered a success.
if this game would be another remake I would pass it but since it looks very new and fresh and like 2 steps up from the last Mario & Luigi game, I'm totally in for it.
But in general I think Nintendo releases too many Mario Games in a too short time frame.
Mario RPG, Princess Peach, Paper Mario, Luigis Mansion, Mario Party, Mario & Luigi, Mario Bros Wonder... it's just too much. Also where are all the other Nintendo IPs? They have so many but I only see Mario and Mario and Mario...
Stop worrying, start happying
Absolutely. More the merrier for me.
Yeah if it’s good
Why wouldn't it? It's not an issue.
Hot take: I don’t believe Brothership will outsell RPG remake.
Probably it would need to be really good for the opposite to happen
Hopefully, it comes very close to. The M&L series is so good.
3 million is awful for a mario game
It’s either this or another few years drought of RPGs. Was tempted to buy them all until I heard of the frame rate differences between the new and old releases. I may only buy Brothership.
Thousand Year Door didn't need to happen. Their toxic fans wouldn't shut up about how they miss the "charm" of TTYD and how they wanted the turn based style to return. I bought Mario RPG, and will buy Brothership, but TTYD can kiss my grits.
