    Probably the best video explaining shaping and reshaping a cowboy straw hat I´ve ever seen.

    Great video!!! I just bought a new Resistol straw and didn't have time to have them shape it while I was there. I prefer the Texas or "George Strait" look and was able to do it here at home. Thanks a bunch!!!

    I found a $150 Stetson hat at the thrift store today for $4… now I’m trying to do my research so I don’t mess this up!

    This helped a lot! I went on a long ride and left my hat in the barn stupidly and the horses got to it and luckily only got it a but dirty but did mess up the shape so I have to reshape it

    Good video! I want to make my straw into a gus, but I've never messed with this type of straw (only palm leaf and felt). I bought it at a garage sale for 25 bucks for a reistal george straight, so I guess I'm not out too much if I screw it up. You should do a video of bending the crown down more in the front, into a gus for me ... heh heh.

    Awesome video! I got gifted a high quality straw hat from a neighbor but the brim is very flat for my face shape, and I’ve been scared to touch it because I’m not experienced with it.

    Can you use steam to get dented, smashed crowns back up?

    • @StartupCowboy
      @StartupCowboy  Před 6 měsíci

      Yes you sure can. Some damage can not be fixed but a lot can. It’s always worth trying to fix first before completely retiring a hat.

    I wanna start my own hat shaping company where do you recommend buying the hats?

    • @StartupCowboy
      @StartupCowboy  Před rokem

      When it comes to buying hats, it completely depends on the clientele that you are intending to market to. For western hats, finding some wholesale dealer that you can cut down your input cost would be best. If you’re not catering your business to western style hats you might have best luck Getting bulk orders off of Amazon.

    do you have any alternatives to make steam? I dont have a kettle like that, should i get one?

    • @StartupCowboy
      @StartupCowboy  Před 2 lety

      Pyotr Kelly,
      Unfortunately if you are going to set out to steam a hat, it’s best to use a kettle.
      I’ve had some luck with a steam iron, as long as you can push a button and get pretty substantial steam with each push.
      If you’re doing anything significant on a hat I would recommend borrowing a kettle, but minor touchups can be done with a steam iron.
      Hope this helps!

    Can you lower the front of a cattleman's crease of a average store bought straw hat?

    • @StartupCowboy
      @StartupCowboy  Před 2 lety +1

      Scott,
      I am assuming that you are talking about the crown of the hat. If that is the case yes you can lower the front pretty easily with just a little bit of steam.
      Hope this helps!

    Should the hat be stiff kind feel like it’s plastic? Bought my son one and I’m wondering if that’s how they feel?

    The manager at Cavender's Western Store told me they couldn't reshape the brim of my new Resistol straw western hat cause it would break it.
    He told me they could only do felt hats.

    Okay as an over-the-road truck driver my hats are always getting smashed and there are cracks in it I don't think you can steam out cracks can you.

  • @darkmountainparanormal5577

    Would have been better if you filmed long ways instead of vertical. Hard to watch.
