ලංකාවේ අම්බලම් වලට ලොකු ඉතිහාසයක් තියෙනවා. අතීතයේ මේවා ඉදිකරලා තියෙන්නෙ ගිමන්හල් විදියට. ඉස්සර ගමන් බිමන් ගියේ ගොඩක් පයින් එහෙමත් නැත්තන් කරත්ත වලින්. අන්න එහෙම යන අයගේ මහන්සිය නිවාගන්න ගිමන් හරින්න තමයි ඒ කාලේ අම්බලම් හදලා තියෙන්නෙ. ඒ වගේම මේවගේ ඉන්න කිසිම ගානක් අයකරලා නෑ.
මේවා ඉදිකරලා තියෙන්නෙ ඒ අවට ගම්වල අය. ඒක ලොකු පිනක් කියලා බුද්ධාගමෙත් කියලා තියෙනවා.
අම්බලමේ විශාලත්වය, අලංකාරය හා වටිනාකම මේවා නිර්මාණය කරපු අයගේ වත්පොහොසත්කම් අනුව තමයි සිදුවෙලා තියෙන්නෙ.
පුද්ගලයින්ගේ තරාතිරම් අනුව අම්බලම් වර්ග 2ක් තියෙනවා.
1. සිටු අම්බලම් - ඉහල පැලැන්තියේ අය සදහා

මේ අම්බලමේ විශේෂත්වය වෙන්නෙ ගෝලාකාර ගල් 4ක් උඩ තමයි මේ අම්බලම ඉදිකරලා තියෙන්නෙ. ගල් 4 උඩ විශාල දැව කදන් 4ක් උඩ තමයි අම්බලම ඉදිකරලා තියෙන්නෙ.
මේ අම්බලමේ තවත් විශේෂත්වයක් වෙන්නෙ ඉදගන්න වගේම කකුල තියන්නත් කොටසක් ඉදිකරලා තිබීම.
ගල් 4ක් උඩ ඉදිකරන්න හේතුව තමයි වැසි ජලයෙන්, කමීන්ගෙන්, සර්පයින්ගෙන් වගේ දේවල් වලින් නැවතිලා ඉන්න අයව ආරක්ෂා කරගන්න.
ජාතික රූපවාහිනියේ විකාශය උනු ඇත්කද ලිහිණියා ටෙලි නාට්‍යටත් මේ අම්බලම යොදාගෙන තියෙනවා.
මේ අම්බලම පිහිටලා තියෙන පරිසරය නිසා අම්බලමට විශාල අලංකාරයක් එකතුවෙලා තියෙනවා. ගල් තලාවත් මත තමයි අම්බලම තියෙන්නෙ.
අතීතයේ මේ අම්බලම ලගින් දඹදෙණිය සහ අනුරාධපුරය අතර මාර්ගයක් වැටිලා තිබුනා කියලත් විශ්වාස කරනවා.
ඒ වගේම කරගගෙදර අම්බලම පුරාවිද්‍යා ආරක්ෂක ස්මාරකයක් විදියට ප්‍රාකාශයට පත්කරලා තියෙනවා.

There are 2 types of Ambalam according to the ranks of the people.
1. Situ Ambalam - For upper class people
2. Mati Ambalam - For common people
Attention has been directed to whether there is a way to get water from the ambalam while making it.
Pinthali has been built in some places.
Ambalam is made in the same way.
Although these were built as a temporary station, they have been beautifully constructed.
Today we are going to visit the Karagahgedara Ambalam, which is a special Ambalam among these Ambalams.
--Karagahgedara Ambalam
This Ambalam was built in 1837 or earlier.
The specialty of this Ambalam is that this Ambalam is built on top of 4 spherical stones. Ambalam is built on top of 4 large wooden stems on top of 4 stones.
Another specialty of this Ambalam is that there is a part built for sitting as well as for placing the legs.
The reason for building on top of 4 stones is to protect the people staying from things like rainwater, chimneys and snakes.
This ambalam has also been used for the Lihiniya teledrama, which has been aired on national television.
Due to the environment in which this Ambalam is located, Ambalam has gained a lot of beauty. Ambalam is located on the rocky ground.
It is also believed that a road between Dambadeniya and Anuradhapura had fallen near this Ambalam in the past.
Also, Karagagedara Ambalam has been declared as an archaeological protected monument.
