Bill Russell and a lot of people don't know the Celtics got 8 rings in a rowRussell retired after the 1969 season, effectively ending a Celtics dynasty that had garnered an unrivaled 11 NBA titles in 13 seasons. The team's run of 8 consecutive is the longest championship streak in U.S. professional sports history.
The only people who don't know that Bill Russell and the C's won 8 rings in a row,are the non basketball fans and probably people born after 1980. But what most don't know is Sam Jones has 10 rings and Russell has 11 rings, along with KC Jones & Havlicek has 8 rings along with Satch
What most people don't know also was that during the final three seasons of his career (1966-1969), he served as player-coach of the Celtics, becoming the first black NBA coach and the first black NBA coach to win a championship. American history always hides the history of Black Americans....
Wasn’t there like 8 teams in that era? Very fierce competition 🤣🤣
@@Pumpkin.Eater.69....Only the best of the best in the WORLD were in the NBA during that time.....No one could beat our AMATEUR players (only college players were allowed to play for the US in the Olympics until the Dream Team in 1992) in the OLYMPICS for like a half century, and the best amateur teams could not beat the worst NBA TEAM during that period. BTW, Russell played against the best amateurs in the Olympics and got his gold.....He also won TWO back to back NCAA titles against the BEST AMATEUR COLLEGE TEAMS in the nation....So your notion that the competition was not fierce is woefully inaccurate.
WORLD in caps?
Only American players back then. No European or Asian.
This list should be called "every Bull, Laker, Celtic, Spur and Warrior ever"
In order would be; Celtic, Bull, Spur, Laker, and Warrior ever"
and they Jouney Men who played for these teams plus those Pistons and Rockets teams
Plus superteam chasers…
Not a Celtics fan ever, but Russell should be on everyones top 10 of all time greats. Aside from the most championships, he did win 4 MVP awards.
5 MVP'S
11 rings out of 13 seasons definitely
no. russel sucks. lebron eats him for lunch
Robert horry got a grip
Robert Horry is the one that always gets me. Sure, those Celtics teams were great and everybody at the top was on those teams, but Horry did it on 3 different teams and the championships just seemed to follow him. Plus, he made clutch shots in a lot of those series.
7 rings, the most of anyone who wasn't part of that Celtics dynasty
Cause he was traded 2 times...
The one player of all pro sports that truly earned his nickname. Robert 'Big Shot' Horry
@@ronkali5365 "Big" Game James.. c'mon Worthy earned that chit.. Magic.. Dr J.. c'mon now get real.. they all earned their nicknames...
@@williamdavis8855 Who was the first in sports to have "AIR" as the nickname ?
Nobody ever mentions the name of the greatest winner of all time Bill Russell.
The REAL GOAT
If Jordan is the GOAT then Russell is the god of basketball the Lord of the rings
Bill Russell is on the very end with 11
Rings only what about dpoy..defensive selection..scoring titles? Oh wait influenced to the world? Who wants to be Mike versus Bill Russell?
Only 10 teams in the league when Russell got his rings quite a big difference between 32
Kareem Abdul Jabbar skyhook was one in a million.
Kareem Abdul Jabbar’s skyhook was a thing of beauty and a joy to watch. Thanks for sharing your thoughts
Unique shot that resulted from a short-lived limitation in College.
I hope Wemby brings it back. He's got the physique.
@@bricefleckenstein9666 .. to put it nicely, white men banned the dunk shot for College basketball because Kareem was so dominant under the basket so Kareem countered and fixed that with the skyhook!
@@steelcurtainsteeler2249 But in that same narrative, they brought it back just in time for Pi Psi Slamma (I may be mispelling the Houston team nickname that featured Akeem).
Fun fact: They have more rings than Chuck 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
A.C. Green won titles with Kareem & Magic and Shaq & Kobe
Steve kerr is now in 9 rings because he is part of 4 championships of gsw as headcoach!
Don't 4get Phil Jackson.
He’s not just part… he’s the head of a championship team… he’s a winner. ✨✨✨🏀
I was coming to say that. He can flex on his former teammates!
**PLAYERS**
Well if you want to add all rings including player/coach, Phil Jackson has the most rings with 13. 2 as a player and 11 as a coach😊
No Wilt Chamberlain..and no Dr. J..unbelievable!!
What killed Wilt is he played during the Celtics dynasty. Wilt played 14 years, in that time the Celtics won 9! Knicks won 2, Bucks got 1 and Wilt got the other 2. 2 things I don’t think get talked about is Wilt is he stopped the Celtics streak of 8 in a row and when he won with the Lakers they won 33 games in a row that season. Dr J unfortunately played in the ABA for 5 years and in his first 7 NBA seasons he went to the finals 3 times, losing to a Walton team they probably should’ve beat and then losing twice to Magic but also having to go through Bird every year JUST to get to the finals. Dr J when he finally got his championship was 32 and only played 4 more years. I’m not trying to make excuses for either guy they probably should’ve won more than 1 and 2 respectively.
YOU GOT THAT RIGHT
There’s about 58 dudes on this list that played with Jordan that have multiple rings, meanwhile greats like A.I., Barkley and Ewing got Zero😢
Did you see the list for the Celtics? If chi has 50 some players. They got 200.
exactly which is why jordan aint at the goat its easy to get rings when you got the players on the same team

Where's the late Dennis Johnson? I think he has 4 rings as well 1 in Seattle and 3 in Boston with Bird Parish and Mchale and Danny Ainge. Laker fan here.
In my opinion ABA rings should also be considered, as that league dominated the inter-league games all but the first 2 seasons they happened.
Puts George McGuiness at 3 or 4 rings (I forget if he had 2 or just one NBA ring, he was on the last pair of Pacer championship ABA teams).
@@bricefleckenstein9666No!...this is the NBA
@@The-GreenHornet I'll point out that the ABA MERGED into the NBA.
Yes, they SHOULD count - at least as much as the early Mikan/Lakers championships, that ALSO predated the NBA but ARE counted because of the much older merger.
Dennis Johnson wasn’t with the Celtics in ‘81 when they won, he was in Phoenix and secondly Seattle WAS in the NBA (and always was an NBA team) when Dennis won a championship in ‘79.
My son is still very young and a huge NBA fan. He likes to look up stats like this. I asked him to name a superstar with 7 rings, he named Robert Horry. Lol.
He was HALF right.
Big Shot Bob DID end up with 7 rings - as a good role player with good timing on getting traded to good teams.
Also Bill russell with 11 rings as a player!
The last 2, he was player/coach
Bill is last guy on the video
This list doesn't mean anything unless you were a major contributor or starter on a championship team. There are lots of players that may have rings but their contributions were slim to none. They just got the rings simply because they're names were on the roster.
I agree and you must be talking about Laflopper who rode the skirt tails of stars to get all his rings plus the fake flu ring the league literally gave him.
Bob contributed.
But debateable as a MAJOR contributor.
EVERYONE above him was a starter for most of their careers, or in the case of Hondo he was the "6'th man" for a couple years before he moved into the starting lineup.
The list means Russell has 11
Whatever. A ring is a ring
The list is letting you know who got the most rings it’s not a list of who’s the best player
This video was awesome
Dennis Johnson should be on the list
Crazy to think about how many rings some of these elite players would've had if there wasn't that one other guy/team that kept "getting in the way"
That speaks to the 1960s strongly.
Bill Russell is the goat, or whatever you call it
no he's not MJ is the goat!!! learn basketball smh
@@coreyortiz9913actually MJ said Bird was better than him. Than Bill than himself.
Nice video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Steve Kerr had a 4 peat. 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999 😮😮
And several Celtics had AT LEAST 5-peats, some 6-peats, and of course Russell with his 8-peat (I think Sam Jones was there for all 8 of those as well).
Wait people say LBJ'S bubble should have an astrix by it.....well well well therefore do you agree that Kerr's and the spurs win in 99 should also have an astrix ( shorten season)
Have never heard of 75% of those who won 3 rings?
There are a lot of Chicago bulls player's 😮
marvelous for those who have played only for one team and gained more rings. you can assess how loyal and steadfast they were but slowly develops the skill, maturity, leadership and teamwork in accordance with the price being paid to them. nowadays, players with superstar complex are first aiming for highest bidder before threshing out the crown they were paid for to some extent riding on with fellow competent role players. sad to say, media have over rated these players while under rating those who are more capable.
You cannot, you better not, you will not talk about the GOAT and not metion Bill Russell's name. I don't want to hear it.

MJ 🐐
Bill Russell, if you go by who was most decorated and had more championships across their careers, is THE GREATEST player that ever played the game. He won back to back NCAA basketball championships at the Univ. of San Francisco...then he went on to win 11 NBA championships out of 13 seasons playing, along the way he won an olympic gold medal, and to finish out his great career, during the final three seasons of his career (1966-1969), Russell served as player-coach of the Celtics, becoming the first black NBA coach and the first black NBA coach to win a championship. Michael Jordan may have been the greatest athlete to play the game, but the greatest player ever was Bill Russell.
Fantastic description my friend. Bill was special.
Bill was in the Olympics BEFORE he started playing for the Celtics.
He was also the first black coach in ANY "major" US sport league, NOT just in the NBA.
@@bricefleckenstein9666 ...I should have said BEFORE instead of 'along the way'......thanks.....BTW, if you are talking about ANY major US sport league, Russell was NOT the first black coach......Frederick Douglass "Fritz" Pollard (January 27, 1894 - May 11, 1986) was an American football player and coach. In 1923, he became the first African-American head coach in the National Football League (NFL), the Hammond Pros.....Due to the intense racism at the time, Pollard, along with all nine of the African American players in the NFL at the time, were removed from the league at the end of the 1926 season, never to return again.....Los Angeles Rams Woody Strode was one of the first African American players in the NFL after the re-integration of black athletes into the league in 1946.
@@THE_HMRC The NFL didn't count as a major league at the time - in those days the College game was MUCH MUCH bigger and more important and the pros were mostly an afterthought.
Realistically, the only MAJOR USA sports leagues at the time were Baseball.
@@bricefleckenstein9666....you are correct, if you consider that WHITE segregated sports as some sort of standard as being major......The NFL was considered major when Blacks were playing before segregation kicked in....the same with Major League Baseball, where Blacks played until the 1890s, when segregation kicked in......Whites only sports, in my opinion, do not set the standard as to what are MAJOR USA sports leagues...They are the standard for whites only.....A good example is MLB holding on to records set before Jackie Robinson played....Those are WHITE records, not the BEST records.....In the All Black Pro Baseball leagues, their attendance was comparable to segregated MLB, AND they had much better players than the segregated MLB, as proof when after Robinson desegregated the league, 12 of the the next 13 players voted the best in the league....were Black.
Robery Horry 7
Bill Russell has 11 as a player but the last 2 years he was player/ coach so u could argue he has 13
He is the Goat as he made the team great and he played as a team man refusing to lose
Respect for all those who won them with the same team they got drafted ✍️
Robert “Mr. Clutch” Horry!
Franklin 🏆🥇🥇🥇
It's Phil Jackson with 13
Arguably Bill Russell had 13 before Phil had any.
2 as a coach, 11 as player.
If you look Steve Kerr has a 4 peat 96,97,98,99.
There's a few 4peats and more in there
Still does not equal 11
You missed Dennis Johnson 2 with Boston one with the Seattle Sonics
Patrick McCaw my goat 3peater 🔥
It's not about players It's about major markets. They win all of the rings with few exceptions.
It's about players - but the major market teams can usually afford more of the better players for longer.
@@bricefleckenstein9666But the smaller markets get all of the number # 1 picks. They use them as bait when the playoffs start. They have the T-Wolves in 1st place, no way they're going to win a title.
@@AveryBlackman They don't get all of them, but probably a majority of them - because they can't hold on to them more than 1 or 2 contracts as a general rule.
Robert Horry has seven Casey Jones who coach Boston plus he played with Boston has 10 as well as Sam Jones. He has 10 two they were both pivotal players of the Celtics with Bill Russell.
Green has 3 rings with 3 different teams.. amazing
John Salley also has rings with 3 different teams (Pistons Bulls and Lakers)
Horry too ...
Everyone is forgetting about Robert Horry who has 7 rings 2 with Huston 3 with the Lakers and 2 with the spurs
His picture was their. 11 is greater then 7.
Houston.
Anni 80 Larry e Magic. Poi Mike air.... Sul livello di quei 3 .....pochi altri
U notice who’s at that head of that list the one and only GOAT
When you see this you understand how little rings actually matter after you get the 1. You need one to enter the convo after that you go to skill
Should put an asterisk next to the super teams
Bill Russell is the greatest with all those rings
For the record, the Lakers 1988 championship was a fleece. It took the phantom foul against Laimbeer for it to happen. A complete joke of a call.
The shame of it all , is that Jerry West, one of the best ever, only got one ring. If you don't know, go back and watch some clips of West.

Dont sleep on "the chief", Robert Parish.🏆🏆🏆🏆
Bro Dwayne Wade use to play for Miami, Bulls, and Cavaliers

It's still crazy that Bill Russell has 11 rings and ten fingers 🐐

@@Bearga Larry would be a regular guy in today’s league.
@@KamT91 that's not true. The people that say that don't understand how talent work. People say that for a lot of greats back in the day. It's simply not true. They hustled hard for what they had. Learn the facts. Imagine all the people that you are saying would suck that played in the 90's and before that. You are saying Kareem, Bill Russell, Magic Johnson, John Stockton, and so many more suck because they didn't play today. Dwayne Wade isn't even playing today. BIG SHOT BOB. My guy. 7 rings. 😤
Most Guys talks about Michael's Rings, Never Bill. I think Kareem is The Goat!
I hope this list sheds some light on the fact that being a champion, doesn't necessarily mean youre a great player. Half the dudes on this list rode coattails, or were very fortunate, so lets stop with the "this guy has more rings, so he must be better" argument.
If they are the core of their team, the rings matter.
Or if they are a major contributor.
If they're a role player like Big Shot Bob, they don't really count for much but bragging rights.
@@bricefleckenstein9666 I get your point, but Horry is a bad example. He was the best power forward the Lakers had for their 3 peat. He didn't always start, but he played huge minutes, hit big shots, was the only one who gave Sheed resistance when the Blazers took LA to seven in the WCF. He was more valuable than their starting forwards.
@@chrisbrooks6756 You don't win 7 rings just chilling. I don't know what that dude is talking about. Big Shot Bob saved some legacies. Namely Shaq and Kobe. That game winning buzzer beater in game 7 of the WCF against Sacramento sent the Lakers to the finals.
@@focuz4899 It goes both ways, though. Bill Wennington, Will Perdue, each have 3 rings, Ewing, Malone, Stockton have 0. You can ride the bench on a good team, not even be on the playoffs roster, and get a ring. So if you play big minutes and get one, great, but plenty of guys don't. I'm just saying, look at the big picture before equating a ring count with greatness.
@@chrisbrooks6756 They have 3 not 7. There's a big difference. Robert Horry didn't ride the bench, he played. Not only that, he never lost in the finals.
MJ and Pippen could've had more if he didn't retire, and horry could've have less.
boston team with bill russel are the real goat...
Why is there not a color photo of Gerald Henderson, who got his third ring in 1990?

So basically the most important thing that this depicts is that if you’re one of those that bases the “GOAT” conversation strictly off of rings, then Michael Jordan isn’t ANYWHERE CLOSE to being “The GOAT”. He might have a lot of accolades, but by that criteria alone, which most seem to hold in highest regard, he’s beat out by almost DOUBLE!!
They will base it on rings. But they will come back with in the modern era. So that does not include bill russell. With eleven championship rings the media will never consider bill russell the goat.
Therefore Robert Horry is the greatest player since the 70s!!!
Also Henri Richard is the greatest hockey player ever. Everyone knows that.
LMAO, no one claims Jordan is the GOAT simply because of 6 rings. 6-0, 6-FMVPs, 5 MVPs, DPOY, 10 scoring titles etc
@1990758 if it was just about rings, then Russell would be considered the GOAT. So clearly, it isn't just about rings.
No surprise that Bill Russell has the most. And that most of them with 8 or more are also Celtics. When you win 12 out of 14 years that just kind off happens.
