🏀 Comparison of NBA Players With Most Championship Rings All The Time

- Since basketball is first and foremost a team sport, no individual success can compensate for a lack of rings when it comes to judging the premier players in the league and the totality of their careers. The superstars of the past have set this tone as they, more often than not, added rings to their long list of accolades. As a consequence of this expectation, many stars of recent years had to deal with an enormous amount of criticism for not being able to “justify” their regular season success when it matters most in the playoffs.
Bill Russell has more championship rings than fingers to wear them and is at the top of the list with the 11 titles he won in the golden era of the Boston Celtics. As a fact, the top spots are here are dominated by Celtics players from those years, but Russell is the only one who was member of all those championship teams.
LeBron James, Danny Green, Robert Horry and John Salley are the only players who won championships with 3 different teams. LeBron is also the only player in NBA history to win Finals MVPs with 3 teams.
In 2018, five players joined this exclusive group: Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Andre Iguodala, Shaun Livingston and Klay Thompson. Patrick McCaw did the same in 2019, JaVale McGee and Danny Green in 2020 while Kevon Looney won his 3rd title in 2022.

Also remember Bill Russell was a player and coach when he played. Played and coached a championship team!!!!!
Love this. Puts things into perspective. Can't compare eras but have to give respect where it's due. Talk about a cool infographic!
Well, that settles it then. Bill Russell is the GOAT. Since players in all sports today are measured by rings.
NYE you get it💯💪🏿
@@dawanwilliams5017 s
Whoever came up with the word GOAT sounds very weird. 🐐 ❓
LLCOOLJ came up with the word but he said it in his song and met for himself as the greatest Rapper of all time
Gonna skip over the mans tremendous talent? Fun fact, bill Russell never lost an elimination game ever. The only season he didn't win a championship he was injured. Never lost an elimination game. In a league where they played like animals. He stood way above everyone
Russell needed someone else's hand to help him display all of his rings.
Literally 😂
Russell was a great player! Iff not for Russell Boston wouldn't have a a quarter of those rings...Remember he had to defend Chamberlain......Ijs🤷🏿♂️
Bill Russell was so good that just being on his team for a while will get up toward the top of this list.
LOL.....that's one way to look at it => or it could have been that Russell played with a plethora of HOF players his whole career and a HOF Coach......i mean usually Russell's complete starting 5 were all HOF'ers (as was the 6 and 7th man off the bench) and when 1 HOF player dropped out, another took his place. Wilt nor West nor Elgin Baylor ever had that luxury......and Bill didn't have a single season where that wasn't true. The Knicks won a few championships the same way => they just couldn't sustain it as the replacements were good but not HOF level or like the Bulls => the bench players were good but made the HOF as a Coach (Knicks Phil Jackson, Bulls Steve Kerr). The Celtics (and Russell) lost Cousey but gained KC Jones......and when Sam Jones and Tommy H left => they added Havlicek, Cowans and Jo Jo White => and won more titles even after Russell was gone.

Bill Rusell 11 rings in just 13th season.😮
Russell is the goat.
Since the coach gets a ring as well, an argument can be made that Russell had 13.
But he was a player, so he already go it. 11 in 13 years is fine.
8 teams in the league at the time!
@@richardsweeney713 And he WAS a coach and won 2

The numbers don't lie. Bill Russell is the greatest NBA champion.
@Chris Clinkscale, and on the last two championship teams Bill Russell was also the Head Coach.
Actually same jones is if your speaking about players that played
@@Sundown452, nope, actually if we're "speaking about players that played" Bill Russell is the greatest NBA champion. Prior to winning 11 NBA championships in 13 years, Bill Russell also won 2 NCAA championships. Just incredible.
The numbers do lie. See Le “Chasing The Ring” James.
@@user-fv9nl6bb8l ...James isn't going to win anymore championships. You're fantasizing!
Gee .... Wilt Chamberlain only 2 and Larry Bird Only 3 ... Man I Still Think They were two of the Best Players Ever.
I was wondering why I didn't see them 😂
Both are way better than almost all of the players on this rundown.
What about "Doctor J" Julius Erving who won just 1 ring ??
There are many many good players not in the list. Many of them just unlucky to win a ring. E.g. John Stockton, one of my fav.
maybe they are the best player ever but basketball is compose of 5 player each team on the court. unlike tennis. .
BEST part was seeing ROBERT HORRY “ The Man! “ in the top greatest with 7 wins. 💥
He got some Jordan's too lol but he really do
you mean will smith
Big shot bob!
He did make that one shot

Robert Horry is a great story for that era…do your job well you will find roles on teams. How many big threes did he hit on each of those teams.
Robert "Clutch" Horry first played in my home town of Houston. You have to admit that he was at the right place at he right time. Nice guy, still saw him in Houston after his playing days.
@@asfernandezjr and still lives in H-town bro ;-)
brian, they were so big, if not for horry's long range 3's , the lakers don't win all 3 of those championships without him , the spurs don't win both of their titles without him , and the rockets don't win both of those titles without him , even though he played with the greats of olajuwon for the rockets , kobe, shaq, and fisher for the lakers , and duncan and robinson for the spurs , he made alot of 3's , but he also made those long range bombs with the game close and on the line , he never hesitated, he just let it fly, and his teammates trusted him to make those shots , and vice versa, because of the great talent he played with on those 3 teams, he has 7 rings to show for it , most in the modern era .
He hit a lot
Crushed the Kings hopes with Vlade
Many!!
Lakers & Celtics have same 17 Champ trophies, but during early NBA years...don't have salary cap policy. IMHO, every player wants to play with Celtics to have good chance to get Champ ring..so, NBA implemented such policy to even the chance of every team.🎉🎉🎉Nowadays, it's tough to win Champ trophy.
That and there was also the ABA which had a lot of good players as well.
@@zanatosprime3460 nba teams would destroy aba up until 80s/Dr J

lol I always knew Russell won 11 rings, but I never realized he only played 13 seasons. He was a champion all but 2 seasons in his career. That's crazy.
And on making varsity his Junior year two High School State Championships in California. Then two out of three NCAA College
Championships (freshman couldn't play back then). Then an Olympic Gold Medal before joining the Celtics in the NBA. So that's
16 total Championships in 19 tries. Bill Russell knew what this game was REALLY about and knew how to play it.

@@steverenom.299my man. And in those 3 seasons, he didn't play., Injured in the other two. Nice on the freshman rule. Was never eliminated from any playoffs when on the floor
Individual stats of russell are paltry compared to wilt....11 rings are a team effort....personal stats shows who the goat is!!!!!!!!!
@@michaeljoseph9510 In this case you could not be more wrong. Russell's stats are not "paltry" compared to anyone. You are
simply focusing on scoring only when in actuality there is so much more to the game that contributes to winning. Wilt is the
greatest "athlete" of all time but in basketball Bill Russell is the GOAT.
Is there a separate list for guys who are both players and later coaches or executive position?
Larry Legend GOAT
You should do the same for Baseball, Football, & F1 racing

Im surprised that no one mentioned Wilt. A player who so dominated the NBA that they changed the rules to stop him from being so dominant.
He still has by far the most records in the NBA and could have had even more if some of the stats they count now were kept in his prime.
There were many great players and many more will come. At the same time rules may be changed. Players have to adjust to changes in travel, scoring, fouls and scouting. No one can predict how a player might have done in a different era. We should just judge on when they played. No criteria will dictate who was the best to please everyone. Jones 9 (7 straight), Havlicek 8, Heinsohn 8 (7 straight), Sanders 7 (5 straight), Cousy 6 (5 straight), Jordan 6, Jabbar 6, Pippen 6. Sam Jones & Jordan are the only backcourt players to lead any title team's aforementioned group of players in both PPG & FG% & they each did it 3X.
and Robert Horry don't forget. he has like 7. Too bad the dimwitted kid that made this video doesn't have a clue about basketball unless its warriors, lebranoda or if he saw a post on facebook about Magic or Bird.

You could argue that Bill Russell's 11 rings and the fact that the finals MVP is named the BILL Russell NBA Finals MVP award makes him the goat.
After seeing mj special and what his team spoke on him....I ll take Mr. Russell!!!!!!👍
people kept comparing lebron to jordan. in terms of efficiency, mj is superlative at 6/15 while lebron is only 4/19. seemingly, kobe and magic are much efficient than lebron. just that the sports media over rated lebron. horry is way better while russell is the Lord of the Rings overall.
It’s Kareem only player to win the finals mvp at age 38 no one else came close. And he did this out preforming perhaps the best front court in nba history Bird, MaHale, and Parish. And at age 42 this guy was still preforming at all star levels when he retired. Not putting down Bill Russell what he did was amazing. But he played for the best organization in nba history. An organization willing to spend money, take chances, to put the best team possible on the floor. Damm thinking about it Bill, Kareem it’s a tie. People saying stuff like “what bill Russell achieved will never be achieved again” kinda takes away from his greatness…the real tests are ones that can be repeated realistically
Nobody will achieve 11 rings on the same team again for a number of reasons Russell never had to overcome..a far more athletic player base. More teams. More rules in place to prevent teams being dominant for long periods

As you can see things used to be different back in the 60s. Players used to stick to one team most of the time and they would win tons of championships together.
In the 60s things were different you did not have a salary cap. Those willing to spend money had great teams. That’s the main reason Kareem only had six. Milwaukee was cheap, unwilling to spend money. And with today’s salary cap if you ever see a better than ten win team again in the nba it will probably be the best ever!

The players that are worth talking about: all are legends, top 10-15 players in the history of the game
My all-time-NBA first team:
Magic (5 rings, Finals MVP - 3, MVP -3, all-NBA - 10)
MJ (6, 6, 5, 11)
LBJ (4, 4, 4, 19)
Duncan (5, 3, 2, 15)
Kareem (6, 2, 6, 15)
Total = 26 rings, 18 Finals MVP, 20 MVPs, 70 All-NBA selections.
My all-time 2nd team:
Steph (4, 1, 2, 9)
Kobe (5, 2, 1, 15)
Bird (3, 2, 3, 10)
Mailman (0, 0, 2, 14)
Shaq (4, 3, 1, 14)
Total = 16 rings, 8 Finals MVP, 9 MVPs, 62 All-NBA selections.
Other players who should be mentioned because his position is loaded:
Russell (11, N/A, 5, 11)
Wilt (2, 1, 4, 10)
Mikan (5, N/A, N/A, 6)
Among the 13 players, not only did they average 4.6 rings and 2.5 Finals MVP (which didn't exist until Russell's last year and in all of Mikan's career), they also averaged 3.2 MVPs (which didn't exist until Mikan's final year) and 12.1 All-NBA selections.
However, one stands out because he has no jewelry. The PF position is relatively weak in terms of generational players as well as contributors to dynasties.
For those who undermine rings and use "Horry has 7 rings so he must be greater than Jordan" reasoning, you still think Robert Horry belongs to this conversation? Robert Horry was 7, 0, 0, 0. The other legends are 4.6, 2.5, 3.2, 12.1.
How about Larry Bird bro?
Bird was the best all around player ever to play in the NBA.
He only has 3 rings.
Add the Finals MVP to show who was really impactful in winning the ring
Michael Jordan - 6 rings, 6 Finals MVPs
LeBron James - 4 rings 4 Finals MVPs
Kareem - 6 rings, 2 Finals MVPs
Magic - 5 rings, 3 Finals MVPs
Duncan - 5 rings, 3 Finals MVPs
Shaq - 4 rings, 3 Finals MVPs
Kobe - 5 rings, 2 Finals MVPs
Bird - 3 rings, 2 Finals MVPs
Durant - 2 rings, 2 Finals MVPs
Kawhi - 2 rings, 2 Finals MVPs
Hakeem - 2 rings, 2 Finals MVPs
Willis Reed - 2 rings, 2 Finals MVPs
That's the list of players with multiple rings + Finals MVPs
It's a team sport no one it doesn't matter how great Thay are wins a team championship by themselves they all got and needed help this is a fact ☝️😆
@@AnthonyRobinson-dc3pq you don't seem to understand the concept of 'most valuable'. It's about replaceabliltiy. You can replace all but a few players in a championship team and find any number of guys around the league who could at least match their contribution. They are players most teams would gladly trade if you wanted them enough. You cannot replace a FMVP caliber player easily while the elite, multi FMVP players cannot be replaced, period. They are the reason the team wins championships, not some role player. In most cases, to be a FMVP means you were a huge reason for that team winning and without you the team simply would not have won. You can't downplay their importance by saying 'oh it's a team sport'...that's an insult.
@@inefektwith all due respect sir what the hell are you talking about sorry I don't get it 😆☝️
@@inefekt lm sorry you are right I stand corrected 😩👍
Debes incluir si o si a Earving Magic Johnson 5 anillos y el mejor jugador de la década de los 80
Look at time. I do agree on bill Russell good player. Goat in times dr.j. if issue bird/magic, next gen mj
Larry Bird won 3 but he is the guy you want taking last shot👍🇺🇸🇲🇽
Magic took him for 5
John havlicek won eight . Two without Russell... And he lost zero
He did lose one though. And Bill Russell won 5 without Havlicek. And one year that Russell lost was when he
got injured and missed two games in the Finals.
@@steverenom.299 Russell lost one before havlicek arrived... Then in 1967 the 76ers won it. And the Celtics never got into the finals. That season... Havlicek never lost in the finals in eight times
@@manny4552 Never lost in the FINALS. Oh, okay, that is true. As you say, there was that year he didn't reach the Finals. This graph
was showing these players with how many YEARS they played. I was confusing Havlicek years with KC Jones and Tom Heinsohn.
Did KC Jones and Tom Heinsohn reach the Finals every year they played in the NBA.? That's incredible if they did.
@@steverenom.299 I'll check on them... Good question.. they both retired before I started watching live but havlicek ran well into the 1970s too.. he was better than both of them all around ...a beast
@@manny4552 Havlicek could run, run, run and then run some more. And shined in the clutch to say the least.
If they have included when bill and a couple more were coaching three of them had more rings as head coaches.
If I was a 40 year Boston Celtic in 1965, I wouldn't want to retire. I would be Haslem not playing a single minute but collecting rings. You couldn't force me to quit.
MJ IS THE GREATEST EVER
Gene guarilia the goat played 4 season won 🏆 in all 4 perfect undefeated seasons.
Just players with only team that achieving his champion ring not just came from collection from separate team.
