- The weather was cold and dark; snow lay on the peaks of Eryri (Snowdonia) in North Wales and a chilly wind blew across the water.
My daughter and I had decided not to walk up Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) so we left my wife, son and Bramble the Sprocker to make the four mile journey up the tallest peak in England & Wales.
As for us, we enjoyed a tranquil ride on the lakeside miniature railway, enclosed in a carriage away from the cutting wind, in full view of the majestic mountains. The trekking party didn't make it to the summit due to the falling temperatures and the thick snow around 500ft from the top.
Suffice to say, we made it back from our train ride and celebrated with coffee and cake.......
This painting shows the view across Llyn Padam lake from the train carriage as the heavy clouds roll across the peaks of Snowdonia.
