Lexus ES330 VS ES350 (2006 vs 2007)

  • Here is a quick tour and comparison between my 2006 Lexus ES330 (with 256,000 miles) and my 2007 ES350 (with 104,700) miles.
    The 2006 ES330 is fully loaded to the gills with every option. The 2007 ES350 does not have any factory options.
    The Check engine light (and other warning lights) on the ES330 is on because the car currently has a major exhaust leak, as you can probably hear in the video when it is running. Sounds kinda cool. Doesn’t cause any issues with the car. That is the only issue with the car so far in all 254,000 miles.

    I still own the 2005 ES330 with 140,000. I've replaced the headlights, alternator, timing belt, etc. This is still an excellent car & and has a superb ride especially since I replaced the motor mounts. I do most of the work myself so it saves labor charges. I have every option on the car and purchased it with 12 miles in 2005.

    I used to have a 2004 ES330 and I lost it in an accident. I wanted another one but my family insisted I get something newer so I looked around for something else. Stumbled upon a 2012 es350 and man, it was beautiful. Never cared for the 350s of this gen before, but I’ve heard it’s a much nicer car to sit in rather than to see in photos. All the complaints I had with the looks were nonexistent when I sat inside it for the first time. The only problem is that I feel like the sidewall being a little smaller makes the 330 ride way more soft and smooth, but the 350 is way quicker, doesn’t have a timing belt, way more fuel efficient, and just a bit more modern. I love the 330, but I’ve grown a soft spot for these 350s. Other than the 350 feeling a bit more rough, they ride identically with the same Lexus floaty feel. It’s definitely a great upgrade if you want a direct upgrade to the 330 instead of getting one of the newer 350s that don’t really have the Lexus charm to them

    • @southwestsupercars5680
      @southwestsupercars5680  Před 10 měsíci +3

      That’s exactly right yes. 330 does indeed have a noticeably smoother ride. I also prefer the interior of the 330 more, there’s nicer wood trim and dash design. However I still love the 350, has a great motor faster, more powerful and just as smooth as the 3.3. Timing chain is a great plus. And it still rides very will as all Lexus do.

Took me 5 years to find the ls400 with the proper records and well taken care of. Took me around 18 months to find this one. I like the ride better in the 400 but the 330 is close. I think the es330 will last me for many many yrs. Both of these were the Pearl White. Gotta love Lexus. Nice video. BTW, My ls400 had over 600,000 miles and was just as tight as ever. Love the body and lines of the ES 330's. The 350's body especially from the rear remind of a NIssan Maxima. My elderly neighbor owned an 05 with only 59,xxx miles which she only drove to church, market and doctors appointments. She would let me drive it with her of course to the market when she and my family needed groceries. I always loved driving that every chance I got. Currently in the market and hope to find a one owner, clean, low miles ES330 myself.

    My 2002 ES300 has 178k miles, such an amazing car. I’m the 2nd owner, bought it in 2021 w 160k miles. Replaced these original parts within first year of purchase: Alternator, starter, flex pipe, AC compressor (working but screeching), all 4 struts (rears were leaking).
    Love this car, super soft ride , interior quality is outstanding. Everything still works perfectly, Lexus quality is unparalleled
    I’ll be retiring in the next 3-5 years so I may move up to a 2010-12 ES350. Time will tell, but it will be hard to let go of my 02. I do like the exterior of the ES350 better, sleeker lines and boxier trunk.

    Just a quick question: how did you get those LED projectors to work on your ES330 that has factory HIDs? The halos ring LED headlamps on the market specifically note incompatibility with HID models. I’m assuming yours had HIDs from the factory because of the nav unit and ML system. My ‘06 with HIDs definitely needs new headlights…afraid wet sanding won’t cut it.

      The ES330 is probably the highest quality ES ever built. It is the nicest feeling the most luxurious feeling of all of them. I have driven EVERY generation ES, even the 1991 ES250 lol.
      I also have a 2008 LS460 and I have driven LS430. Over all the LS460 feels phenomenal but the 430 is also just nicer and higher quality feeling by a tiny bit.
      LS is a better car over all, it’s more car. Bigger engine , more features etc but not by much! My ES330 is 95% of the LS430 and 460. It has power sunshade, rain sensing wipers, ventilated seats, touch screen nav etc. most of the stuff on the LS.

  • @kuruptzZz
    @kuruptzZz Před 28 dny

    I feel like the ES 330, although a great car, was still in the stage of "souped up camry". The ES 350 is when lexus took it to another level in luxury and tech, and it's workhorse camry underpinnings were much less obvious. It was cutting edge in 2007, and has aged very well. And I still have yet to sit in a more comfortable seat, even though I have a BMW 4 series now with the upgraded seats

My opinion is that the Lexus interior is just a step above the Avalon’s, wood is real and higher quality , softer leather, suede soft headliner etc materials are a bit nicer over all. Avalon’s are priced better so you can get a newer nicer avalon for the same money than a Lexus.

    I personally really like the ES330 more than the ES350 for a few reasons. My mother owns an ‘04 ES330 and it’s sorta optioned but not like yours, but still a very nice high quality car for the money.
    I’ve also driven my cousins clean ‘09 ES350 many times and I cannot believe how cheap feeling the entire interior looks and feels compared to the older ES330. The door panels feel flimsy and feels so low grade including the dash and center console is made of cheap feeling plastics. It lost the nice padded vinyl trim of the older models, I also like the gauges and wood grain finish better in my mothers ES330. I also think the ES330 rides a little smoother and softer than the ES350. But the power and performance of the ES350 totally surpasses the 330.
    IMO Lexus really cheapened out that generation of Lexus. I do however like how much bigger the interior is in the ‘09. And the larger seats, because to be honest the ES330 feels pretty tight inside and just lacks the leg room especially in the rear if your of average height. But hands down the ES330 looks a lot nicer inside and the materials used are sturdier and feel more solid.
    BTW that exhaust leak sounds like it’s coming from the flex-pipe not that CAT. The flex-pipe on these cars typically blow out due to high miles. Beautiful cars though! I can’t believe how clean your ES330 is at that mileage! Just goes to show how well made these Lexus’s are and can hold up for decades.

      @southwestsupercars5680  Před 2 lety +2

      I agree, 330 has a nicer and higher quality interior than 350, but 350 is still nice too. The exhaust shop forgot to bolt up the Flex pipe when replacing my cats. Took it to them and they fixed it; however now, one of those cats they replaced is cracked!!! 😠 very annoying but it should be covered under warranty and I will be taking it to them this week. My ES330 is now at 282,000 miles! Still driving great

      Hard to pick a favorite. The 350 is quite a bit quicker and noticeably more powerful. Also it’s a timing chain engine so no timing belt service required. It feels a bit more sporty, handles turns better than the 330. The interior on the 330 feels a lot more premium tho, materials are nicer, more leather on the doors, much more wood trim which I like. I really prefer the interior a lot more on the 330. The 330 also feels heavier, more substantial, almost like an LS. The 330 has better ride quality too, it’s very soft and smooth, very wafty like an old Lincoln. Which is why it doesn’t handle as good. The engine is less powerful, but still smooth and adequate. The 330 is also quieter on the inside, overall it feels like a more expensive car. My 330 has the sport suspension option which helps out a lot on twisty roads. It actually becomes stiffer than the 350 which doesn’t have that option. I think overall I prefer the 330, if it had the 350 engine it would be perfect. I have out 77,000 miles in the last 3.5 years on the 330, but only 26,000 miles on my 350 in the same amount of time. The 330 does uncompromised comfort better, but the 350 is a better compromise between comfort and better handling. Reallllly hard to pick which one I like more haha but I think I prefer the 330 as a daily a little more.

      @@southwestsupercars5680 thank you very much for the detailed review. Sounds like I should have gotten a 330 in the first place. Regarding handling, I feel the handling doesn't exist on my 2009 ES 350. I have replaced the front suspensions to KYBs, but they're still very soft. Not enough for cornering. The steering is very loose too. It's a straight line car with very soft suspension in my opinion. I guess it was how these cars were set up.

    • @southwestsupercars5680
      @southwestsupercars5680  Před 3 lety +2

      @@yanghu3592 yes that’s how these cars were intended. Super soft supple ride. The 350 is very soft and smooth, but the 330 is EVEN more so. Very wafty around corners, more body roll in the 330 than the 350. Both are so soft though. I just bought a 2002 GS430 as well, which is even heavier but handles a LOT better around turns. Not as smooth as the ESs tho.

      The maintenance is the cheapest you will ever find. The 3.3 V6 is the same in the Camry, avalon, Solara, and Highlander and sienna of similar years which are just bullet proof Toyota engines. Just keep up with regular maintenance and everything and you will be great. I pay about $47 for my oil change and tune ups.
