Great video! I've watched a number of videos on fake news and your definition is one of the best! Your video does something a number of other videos on fake news don't. You define fake news by (1) pointing out how fake news needs to resemble real news, (2) state that fake news actually needs to be a news story rather than random information (e.g. if I lie to my friend, this is not fake news), and (3) stating that it is a news story that is deliberately created to misinform or deceive. In addition, you do a fantastic job of stating that comedic news is not fake news (other definitions seem to include comedic news as a type of fake news) and that honest mistakes are not fake news. One small quibble (depending upon how your definition is read). I think that news can be fake even when it isn't created with the intent to misinform or deceive. If a journalist is reckless, lazy, or careless in their production or distribution of news and that news lacks a factual basis, then this would be fake news.

Hi Logic & Philosophy, sorry for my slow response. Thank you for your great synopsis of our video and for pointing out that carelessness can certainly lead to Fake News production. There is undoubtedly free speech when it comes to Fake News, but there is also defamation lawsuits if parties' reputations are tarnished. In our opinion, it's best to know how to spot for ourselves.

    Thank you.
    Think individually:
    Information + circulation
Since its people we re talking about,
sure theres a gradual twisting of facts
and the potential for omission/fabrication. Its people we re talking about. The question is who is + or -
as a result of the distortion to what end. So its not pertinent regarding only news-its life.

Maybe it's because it's the new media era, but I felt that fake news from interactive communication is being produced a lot.

What a wonderful comment! Yes, it is difficult to catch everything, especially when it comes to interactive communication. You got me thinking, thanks Sol!

You should actually watch this video and then apply the principles to Fox or whatever media you consume. Then you'll learn how fox is the worst and most biased. Also check out 2004 documentary "Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism".
