Drove up to Haweswater then walked up Gatesgarth pass then Nan Bield pass down to Small Water where I pitched up for an overnight Wildcamp...

Really beautiful views of the lakes. I find the lack of trees in that area very interesting. I live in a spot where we have a TON of trees. You can tell how far you've walked simply by the different angles of the lake. You chose a great place to set up camp! Views from both sides.

Absolutely awesome up there. They're such a diverse array of fells. Probably nothing else like it in England. We are blessed in this country. They're not the highest but we have so many small impressive ranges like this. We could spend a lifetime exploring it all. Who knows who that was walking bu your camp. It might have been Jim Holden. Then again he would have said, 'hello fellow camper.' good going. All the best. Mark
Your not wrong there, you could spend days ratching all over the place and exploring, I was the otherside of the water from whoever it was so was not in speaking distance lol Thanks Dave
Was up in the lakes the same weekend. Awoke at 5 in the morning on the Saturday and was met with frost covered tent and ground. Was a stunning days walking around Ullswater after setting off at 6:30 to beat the crowds!

I was in Chester last Friday ..the weather was horrid lol..while you got a stunning evening for it.. Cracking when you can see for miles on end. ..that route looks steep in bits up to the tarn like.. was very handy having it to yourself as well...great vid.ATB marra. Mark.

Grand place up there i camped there this time last year,same walk up via gatescarth & nan bield pass & even same pitch.we didn't get the views up on harter fell though it was clouded out.better views form the water though looking down over haweswater.looked like you had grand weather & conditions,doesn't get much better when it's like that.tfs Dave.atb..Andy.

Border Rambler You certainly were, I so want to come up to the lakes and Wild Camp this year, massive drive for me though :-( 5.5 hours drive!!
I'm lucky it was just under an hours drive for me , the drive would be worth it tho :-)

What a lovely place. I’ve checked on the map Dave where it is. Do you park at haweswater and walk up to it?
Yes thats right follow reservoir all the the way to Mardale head then park up, there are a few ways up whatever suits. I went the long way round but returned direct down from Small water to the car park on way back.

How far is it from the car park?
Roughly about 1.5 mile up hill

Enjoy plenty of flat spots slightly back from the water ,and a few around it . ⛺️👍
