  • Limit straps. You usually pay more for additional travel. Why would you want to limit it? In this video, we'll run through some of the reasons why you would want to limit the travel of your suspension. Do you need limit straps if you're a trail guy or family cruiser? What about a dune rider? We'll answer those questions and more.

    Thank you so much for the info. Ive looked and looked read all types of tutorials for information. This video was awesome. After adding new tender springs and 32” tires I kept noticing a “clunking” noise on my 21’ Rzr pro xp riding here in Tennessee rocks. Because I have fox shocks “live valve” it was tough figuring out exactly how to fix. I was getting so much from riders. Oh just adjust your spring. Set your dampening. The rebound is super quick with the added mods. You made this super straight forward. Thank you sir!

    Thank you for the info, I have been on the fence about getting limit straps but this video pushed me over the edge. I do a lot of jumping/dune riding so it totally makes sense for me to get.

    Good info, on my Maverick sport i jad the bandit spring kit and front sway bar removed. That car constantly had 1 tire off the ground and you could hear the thunk from the shock internals fully extending. That car definitely could have used straps upfront. I just ended up putting the sway bar back on.

    Probably should mention that if you do damage the internals at full droop the shock can completely come apart in spectacular fashion!! LOL!!

      @@DerangedOffRoad probably worth mentioning that premium shocks have top out springs in them. When the shock tops out, it hits the top out spring under the shock piston.

    I installed Zbroz spring kit on my pro xp4 and 15x32’s and noticed right away when hitting big hoops at high speeds that my front shocks are over extending. I need limit straps, it’s pretty obvious if you are paying attention to your suspension, you can hear the slam of the shocks over extension. Thanks for the video. What straps would you recommend for the pro xp? At this point I’m only hearing the front, but I’m sure the backs will require them as well. I love the work you guys did to your Pro XP4. Did the new doors and seals help with the dust? I ride desert trails in AZ and fighting the dust is always an issue. Thanks!

      Wildcat has the best suspension of the bunch. What worries me is all the changing of hands with the company and the lack of design changes or improvements. Great rigs but will the company be around to support them in 5 years? -Joe

    This is one video where I disagree with you, especially in regards to the rock crawling aspect. When rock crawling, it is rare for a tire to drop out fast. Shocks are made to reach full extension, so it doesn't hurt them at all. As one shock builder once told me, "if your shocks need limit straps, you need different shocks. A quality shock does not need limit straps".

    • @DerangedOffRoad
      @DerangedOffRoad  Před 2 lety +2

      My experience and the experience of others has been different so I’ll agree to disagree. Fox, for the most part, makes plenty of shocks and I’ve seen more than a few pictures of the bottom of the shock body blown out. I wouldn’t call it common but if I could eliminate the risk for $200, it would be worth the investment for me. Thanks again for watching! -Joe

      @@DerangedOffRoad We are all entitled to agree or disagree for sure. Perhaps Fox doesn't quite live up to the "quality" part of quality shocks. ELKA is the shock of choice for me when I buy replacements. They are definitely a much higher quality than Fox. All that being said, I have yet to actually see a shock come apart, of any brand, nor do I know anyone that has had this happen. And of all the millions of machines out on the trails world wide, you rarely hear of it happening. A few pictures on the internet but that's it. Pretty much a non issue for atv's & utv's. If someone wants to spend the $$$ on limit straps, and gets a warm fuzzy feeling from it, by all means have at it. They just aren't needed...

      I put shock therapy springs on my live valve x4. No revalving done and they started bumping when the machine would unload either front tire. Never did it stock but did after the new springs. 49 bucks on amazon for 2 22 inch straps and it's completely stopped. I definitely needed them and not for a warm fuzzy feeling. It rides super smooth with zero noise now
