Romila Thapar, Emeritus Professor of History at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi
Chair: Emma Dench, Professor of the Classics and of History, Harvard College Professor, Director of Graduate Studies, Department of the Classics, Harvard University
The claim, often made, that India-uniquely among civilizations-lacks historical writing distracts us from a more pertinent question, according to Romila Thapar: how to recognize the historical sense of societies whose past is recorded in ways very different from European conventions. In The Past Before Us, a distinguished scholar of ancient India guides us through a panoramic survey of the historical traditions of North India. Thapar reveals a deep and sophisticated consciousness of history embedded in the diverse body of classical Indian literature.

So all the written History was recorded by British, as per this lady, which formed the source documents and references for later period Historians. Now I understand why we have such a distorted history which is far from the true legacy of ancient India.

Most of the references in Indian scriptures are allegorical and symbolic - if you cannot read past their cipheric language, you won't understand anything.
And as far as history is concerned, almost everything prior to the rise of Greeks and the Greco-Persian wars is fuzzy and cannot be understood without even the slightest bit of certainty.

These historians are basing their arguments on scientifically, historically and archeologically discredited versions of history. They look at Indian history, culture, religion and language through the eyes of the western, colonial and biased scholars who have any no idea of the Indian traditions and eastern philosophy and thought. Cultural and historical colonialism at its best with a biased and mistaken view of actual history.
