Thank you Dentaa for this amazing interview. I have been in Ghana for 3 years and my wrist has been bare because I REFUSED to buy a watch coming from the West or outside the continent. I have been looking for Ghana made watches and no luck until now. We (African and African origin people) are always supporting "others" and making them rich buy supporting their brands. Ghana has everything we need to build and create but we love imports. The time has past for us to create our own and support our own because we have a lot of talent and skills here in Ghana and on the continent. I will definitely go to Caveman and support this brotha.

I'm Nigerian and glad to hear this. I also like his response about why we don't sometimes "buy" Africa, black etc. The work has to first be done. The West has built brand recognition by hook (and sometimes crook). Around the world, people also don't buy Indian watches, or Turkish watches etc., because they have not developed a reputation either. Europe and the East have developed a reputation for technical capacity. It is not magic, and this young man seems to be on the right path.
I would have loved to hear more about the movements with his watches, and some features/functionality, and very importantly what the servicing options are. They are a lot of us Africans who are serious watch enthusiasts. Wishing him luck.

Great to have this insight.. I, a Londoner, having studied industrial design now design watches. I first doodled one in 2001...previously, I hand make clocks along with signage and graphics, so I have a broad spectrum of experience.... I am able to initiate signs from the logo to the finished product, as well as the horological venture from the seconds track to an impression on the entire finish of the product... But I am not a watchmaker, that is very different from a watch designer who affords it the aesthetics required to allow the watch to be even bought in the first place. I would love to come back. There's too much to offer.. We MUST BE INDUSTRIALISED or we sink.. It's not about Ghana.. Nigeria.. This ain't jollof wars, this is unity of nations, businesses and mind likeness. Furthermore, we aren't fighting the western ideals, we can make it.. Perfect it.. This is originally us.. We just lost the battle due to colonial mentality... This must change. 🥂

16:13 You see; the mindset issue is actually our biggest problem. Most of our people, forget their education, have internalised the European's calculated narrative of us as being less intelligent or inventive, although our people are there in the West doing amazing things. I recently spoke to a returnee who has about a dozen patents in the materials engineering field, who's hardly known. We're always looking elsewhere for validation. Even if we think of an idea, we're second guessing ourselves and asking if it has been done by the examiners of human advancement - the Europeans. Sometimes, we defeat ourselves even before our detractors do it. We self-depricate and mock our own selves on daily basis. We make the job easier for them.
Nkrumah attempted but was not allowed to follow through with the agenda of decolonising the minds of our people. We need to radically change our education carricullar for this purpose. Sadly, there's no political commitment to do this.
Look at this brother. See what he's achieved with as little resources and support as he had to start with. Imagine if he had all the resources and support at his disposal. Bless you, brother.

The rich and powerful politicians in Ghana have to patronize such stores and advertise it. This is how we can grow within. Sad that when our rich and powerful politicians want to go on vacation, instead of going to the nice resorts in Ghana to help them, they will rather go to Dubai and spend their money there but expecting the resorts in Ghana to be patronised by the diasporas? This is shameful. Dentaa since you have the platform, could you please drill this in them? They have to patronize our resorts and buy our watches before others can. Thanks
