    Yet again, loving this vlog of your build. I think this is the best documented build of this project on the net

      Same here... "SideVentRight" on a 18-hour print at this moment. Been printing Greebles and the rest of the back door parts. Finished the skirt section and main leg pieces and have bags and bags of bits....
      Plus been printing new bits of my InMoov that I am trying to find time to modify.

    Built in hinges on the pie pieces, cool, that guy has thought this through.

      @kylecampbellweb  Před 4 lety

      Hi Cyborg, there are few various versions of hinges now. I have seen possibly simpler to fit ones somewhere that I may use on this.

    Looking really nice. I've pretty much got all the leg parts ptinted/assembled (not wheels though) and I'm now sanding/filling like crazy.

    • @kylecampbellweb
      @kylecampbellweb  Před 6 lety

      Hi Carl. Sanding time eh? I just bought myself a small mouse sander so at some point I must start on that. Did you buy the lasy susan? What size did it measure at? With the legs are you printing the fixed shoulders or waiting for the full 2-3-2 designs from Michael?

    • @carl9910
      @carl9910 Před 6 lety

      Hi Kyle, I'm going with fixed shoulders as my R2 will just be a static model with sounds/lights/rotating head etc. Makes no sense for me to have a fully controllable unit as I just don't have the space to use him once complete.
      Preparing for paint is very time consuming but I knew it would be. Basically I'm using Motip Spray Putty (really good and less than £19 for six 400 ml cans on Ebay UK), filler (Ronseal Smooth Finish Filler, just £7.01 for a 2.2 KG tub on Amazon UK - sands really easily!) and loads of elbow grease with a good paper. Then just rinse and repeat. Taking three passes per part to get a good finish at the moment.
      I've not got my lazy susan yet as I really want to slog on and get R2 sttod up on three legs asap.

      Onwards...

    do you need to dril extra holes in the lazy susan ring or in the ring the mount it? Excellent job btw!

    • @kylecampbellweb
      @kylecampbellweb  Před 5 lety +1

      Hello joey, yes I drilled new holes around the lasy susan itself. Some pre-drilled holes did line up but not all. I also counter sunk them when needed. I think I also drilled new holes in the plastic as required. There seems to be no "right way" to fit the ring, so experiment. As I have mentioned, the dome jamming on the ring was my main problem, still is actually. Its all fun though!

    Hi Kyle, when are you doing more of the r2 build, im slightly behind but would love to progress of yours

    • @kylecampbellweb
      @kylecampbellweb  Před 6 lety

      Hi Darren
      Haven't had a chance to do a video recently but I have been consistently printing away, maybe 18-hours a day. My favorite PLA is out of stock at Amazon and is suddenly £5 more expensive elsewhere a reel, [Technology outlet PLA] so have also tried different brands with mixed results.
      I have printed all the parts for both legs and greebles and doing well printing the feet parts. I am waiting on the shoulder sections as I want my R2D2 to be fully active - will wait for the new arm/leg that Mike Baddeley is doing with the design. Also printed all the body and dome greebles and bits & pieces.
      The dome fits the body and rotates fairly well. I need to print a servo holder and get that rotating.
      Anyway, I have several huge plastic bags of parts that I need to so something with. Maybe I will do a short video this weekend showing plastic bags of bits!
      I was also planning on adding the Drupp neck to my Inmoov as that needs a bit of work, so may get totally sidetracked and video that instead. Also have plans to do videos on my Citrus trees in the garden, but that's a complete distraction!!
      Thanks for asking about the videos and progress, it will prompt me in the right direction. Or maybe I will work on my Rubicks cube machine instead.....

      kyle campbell thanks for the update, this is my goto video for my build. A friend of mine is also attempting to 3d print one and I’ve pointed him in your direction. Your R2 is really looking great. I’ve been using a low warp PLAx3 filament from filaprint, its £38 but is as strong as anything and I get very little waste. Just a shame that with work I don’t get lots of spare time to print

    Where did you find the lazy susan for this. I am in the process of working on printing this myself and have most of the dome printed at this point.

      Hi Brian, I bought in the UK at simplybearings.co.uk
      Their stock changes around but this one looks the same as mine. Beware of the stated measurements as it may be slightly bigger than 450mm

      Hi Kyle. Great vids. Just curious. Did you print the wider version of the lower ring for the lazy susan or was it the standard version?

    • @kylecampbellweb
      @kylecampbellweb  Před 6 lety

      Hi Peter, the wider version. Not sure how much difference there is. I messed around getting it all to fit and did a lot of filing sanding as you can see.

    • @digitaldog888
      @digitaldog888 Před 6 lety

      Thanks Kyle! This is good to know as I'm waiting for my lazy susan to arrive. I will print out the wider version and if I run into problems, I'll follow your video for the fix!
