The way the screen cuts to black synchronized with Britell’s incredible music along with everyone’s performances just makes this scene divine.
Thats something that i love about HBO tv shows, is satisfying.
I love the last shot of Mencken at 1:38 - with his glance down and smirk at a distracted Logan, combined with the music, all to suggest what a horrible mistake the Roys have made in supporting him.

Would be hilarious if the end result of this was President Gil Eavis, but I don’t think that’s the kind of story Jesse Armstrong tends to write.
When Logan asks shiv if she was a part of the family or not, I was hoping that she would say no and just leave. This just shows that she will abandon her ideals for the sake of power. She's always on this ideological high horse but at the end of the day she is the same as Roman and Kendall

If my family decided to endorse a nazi for president and had the power to get him elected that in itself would be enough for me to ditch them lmao. Maybe she remembered this moment when she had that troubled look at Roman during the photo opportunity at the end of this year's finale.

I liked Shiv in this episode. She's better than most of her siblings. She's the only one who stands up to Logan.

I love this because Shiv isn't mad because her father chose a ""facist nazi-loving"" candidate for the presidency; she is mad because her father didn't chose the person she backed. That's it.

Yes that, but also a photo next to a guy like that for her is pretty damning. Her background is in politics, the optics would suggest that she was complicit in propping him up for the presidency
I mean she is also genuinely concerned that their family is gonna be responsible for a Neo-Fascist president this show isn’t entirely about parental dynamics even if that’s the main bulk of it. It does have a larger real world scope.
Ehh it's a mix of both. Shiv is very clearly actually disturbed by the fact that the family chose Mencken. Just not disturbed enough to give up on pleasing Logan
this is such a dumb comment and a total misreading of what is happening in this moment. of course his politics is the reason she initially refuses to take a photo with him. she knows how dangerous he is and is genuinely disgusted by what he represents. there's a reason her preferred candidate was a moderate. but she is so desperate for her father's love and validation she would still do anything to get it, even if it means betray her beliefs. logan knows this about her too, that's why the line that manages to convince her is an appeal to family.
Let's not forget that the candidate she supported promised to get rid of her dad and put her as CEO, so she's also pissed because the missed opportunity

@@jimzimmer2048 shiv has flaws too but i think it's hard for the audience to relate because she doesn't break down easily, instead she stands on her ground and fight back with what she's got, unlike kendall he takes risks but ends up failing miserably in the end

Season 3 is where Shiv found out she’s probably about a fifth as smart as she thinks she is.

The shareholder vote was first discussed in s1 but actually happened in s3, give it time lol. Succession introduces plot threads to finish them later, it's how the show is structured
