I have the discontinued M-38. Basically an M-36 with a volute, an abalone rosette and bound headstock, neck and heel. I love the balanced tone as well as the ergonomics due to the narrower body. As to the M series being underrated, I believe it is very highly rated among those of us "in the know" and for good reason. Much less popular is closer to correct. But that is a good thing as it affords you more bang for your buck.

Just played one of these at my local shop today. As a fingerstylist, I found it very nice. Great acoustic 'voice'. I have a D28, but it this size guitar and it's construction is better suited for fingerstyle, I think. It breathes a little more. Martin describes neck wood as "select hardwood", however. I would like verification from Martin as to whether it's actually "mahogany" .. and which specie. Sapele is half the price as Honduran and not as stable. My only 'curiousity'... maybe not a concern, tho. Sounds great and you play very well, btw. Thanks for posting.
Martin never uses sapele necks. It's always mahogany or Spanish cedar.

+muscles662988 I love mine! If I had to get rid of all my guitars except one, I think this would be the one I kept (although that's a really hard choice). I made some changes and got mine custom, but I would not have needed to. The stock model is tops.

Jesse Watson I agree. I mean the M-36 has enough dreadnought boom mixed in with the balance of the 00/000. I don't I can afford a new one but I'm hoping to find a good deal on a used one.
