Satisfying dryer vent cleaning, 20 years of buildup, watch till the end!

  • This dryer vent had about 20 years of lint build up in it, and the customer was no longer able to get their clothes to dry without running the dryer for multiple cycles. The lint was so thick in spots that I was actually having a hard time getting my brush to continue to spin and the air coming from the dryer wasn’t strong enough to push most of it out until the very end. Once the last bunch was loosened the air flow picked up and blew the rest out, and you can see how much stronger the air flow was at the end compared to the beginning!

    Looks like your vacuum might need some unclogging too lololol but this was awesome! Don't see a lot of videos this long! I freaking love dryer vent cleanings and being able to watch one for an extended period was super relaxing! Thanks for the upload! I'm sure the person living there will be amazed at how quick their clothes dry now

      Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Normally, a duct line this long wouldn't take almost 15 minutes to clean, but the lint was so thick I had to go slow and pull the brush back out a few times to let everything clear that had been loosened otherwise I would risk just compacting the lint. And yes, their dry time will be reduced significantly!

    Have you figured out a way to sell the lint you pull out? , mix lint with wax and make fire starters for wood burning stoves

    There ends up being a lull in the middle of the video where the lint got too thick to blow out. If you skip to 10:10 you'll see the beginning of the final blast once the air flow improved enough to push the rest out!

      We could see that with the reduced lift of the backdraft damper in the hooded vent, also you could make a plastic/wooden surround to contain more of the lint blown out by the dryer and a hole in the side of it for the shop vac nozzle.

    How much do you charge to come out and clean a vent, and how long are you there? What else do you do at the clients house? I clean houses so I get curious about other residential jobs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ great video!

    • @dominiondryerventcleaning5122
      @dominiondryerventcleaning5122  Před rokem +2

      I charge a minimum of $95. It usually takes me 30 to 45 minutes unless there's some kind problem. When cleaning dryer vents, you can't just brush out the duct line though, you also have to be able to test the air flow to make sure it's clean and connected.

      If there is any smell at all, other than just the general smell of dust, it's typically the smell of fabric softener. So, thankfully, there isn't really an unpleasant smell at all! It's gray color tends to give the impression of something dirty and gross, but It's just dust, sometimes hair, and clothing fibers.

      I assume you're referring to the flex duct behind the dryer, but that's not where the problem is in this case. There was nearly 30 feet of hard duct running through the crawlspace, so a cleaning is what's needed in this case.
