I finally get a chance to change the oil on my 996. I used Mobil 1 0w-40 along with a new Porsche filter and housing.. Thanks for watching, subscribe and like my video! - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Great tip on making the car level to let more oil drain out. I’ve been doing the same. I also cut open the oil filter and check for any metallic or plastic particles.
I usually give the filter a once over too. Never hurts to look.
Awesome explanation, thanks man
Thanks for the video. Just purchased a 2001 996 this past month. I look forward to watching your future videos as I too will do the labor on the vehicle as much as possible.
Thanks for watching. There will be new videos coming in the next few weeks.
I just purchased mine last month and I’m loving it
Thank you , will change my oil ❤myself today 😊
Another good video :-).
Thanks for watching!
Like the wheels man. 996 is under appreciated but I have lost some sleep over it!
I have a 00 996 with a gt3 aerokit.
Thanks, the wheels are Avant Garde Ruger Mesh 19's. I'm a huge fan of the GT3 look. I thought about getting the parts after I'm done with the suspension and engine.
Just another opinion on oil level, I used to think the oil level needs to be at the maximum as well until I saw Jake Raby video he specifically said it’s best to keep the level at the dead middle of the meter. Mine is topped off right now and plan on having it at the middle at my next oil change
That’s funny cause I vaguely remember seeing a video with him saying make sure it’s topped off. I’ll have to look now to see what he said. But, there is no disputing that he’s an expert when it comes to these engines. I would definitely trust what he says.
@@KevinsEuropeanGarage middle of dipstick protects the AOS, from what I gather.
I heard a few different things. Like the car can sometimes starve for oil around hard long turns. And that being topped off could help against oil starvation. Need to have some people who race the 996 chime in see what they do. Maybe I’ll i stall a extended sump.
Also Raby recommends Joe Gibbs Driven DT40 5W40 performance motor oil, especially if you’ve had his IMS upgrade.
Beautiful car, Love the wheels. What tires do you have fitted? What size are you using front/rear?
Thanks! The wheels are Avant Garde Ruger Mesh 19’s. I have Delinte thunder D7. In a 235/35/19 in front 275/30/19 in the rear. Unfortunately if you keep the same overall diameter when you use 19inch wheels there isn’t a lot of tire to pick from. These were on the car when i purchased it. Eventually I plan on putting Yokohama Advan AD08 R. I do not find the Delintes’s very responsive in the steering department plenty of grip though and understeer. I have had good luck with Yokohama’s in the past. I also like the Bridgestone RE71R’s, but they don’t make the rear tire size.
why not double check on the digital gauge inside?
Great Video. How often are you changing the oil? every 5000km?
Thanks! 5000km would fine. I’ll probably only put that much on in a year. You could probably go up to 8000km if it was driven a lot.
5w-30 or 10….you will get piston slap and scoring with zero
I currently use Motul 300V 5w-40
Does 996 have a drain plug gasket/washer ?
Yes it does a washer. They can be reused as long as it hasn’t been excessively crushed. Thanks for watching.
@@KevinsEuropeanGarage thank you 😊
You skipped how to lift the car…lol.
