Lixian’s fast forward edit is so nice being able to see what happened instead of just skipping to the next interesting part
Yes. That should be more done in cutted CZcams.
also helps being able to follow the game and maintain a sense of direction
And it fits thematically with the whole robot recording stuff as well. Feels like we're fast forwarding an old tape

Rocks are people to ya know.
22:49 The ‘delineation on what is and isn’t a team member’ is that team members are actual Company employees who take wrapped-up bodies down to the caves and plant them so the spores can turn them into crystals. The wrapped-up bodies are meant to be turned into crystals, not the team members themselves.
Yes
It just so happens that the team members are less adept at, y'know, not being crystallised than one would hope.
I'm also pretty sure that it was stated that those weren't bodies, but that they were still alive?

We need more horror games like this
Slow burn horror that focuses more on the world building and story than jumpscares
Or at least uses jumpscares more sparingly
You're serious? You're not serious are you?
This is hardly something I'd call horror, let alone a game. It's a slow, glacial paced powerpoint presentation with the first 3d unity project of someone who made a map that was WAY too big for a camera with a velocity that's way too slow. I'm amazed you could stomach to look at this long enough to gain any sense of world building. Not a diss on you, I just actually literally couldn't imagine anyone enjoying this game that's almost not even a game.
@@_korbo_ Yea I get what you mean
Everyone has their own tastes
I just think slower paced horror games are neat. Maybe not exactly this slow, but you get the point
@@_korbo_this game may focus more on story than horror but it is still a game.
@@evangaughan5321 Not really
@@_korbo_ It's a normal game. Even If you don't like it. It just focuses more on the story and the environment. Just because you aren't bombarded with jump scares doesn't make it "a bad horror game." It creates an uneasy feeling, and for ppl who are afraid of caves and/or small environments (Claustrophobia) it's spooky in it's own way.
Even If "smb creates this as their first game on unity, with a too big map, etc" What's wrong about it? Everbody starts small, no game is perfect and when you want to make smth small you create a lil game like this!
If you don't like the game, it's okay.
If you think it's not spooky, it's okay.
But this is a Horror Game. And when ppl enjoy Horror Games like this one, it's okay too.
If you hate this Type of Horror games so much, I recommend you not to watch videos from it.

I remember having recurring dreams of being lost in places like this when I was about 4 or 5 years old. I'd get chased by things like demons or mutant organisms while frantically crawling on my stomach through tight twists and turns to get away. I would always die.

When I was around that age I would have recurring dreams of an entity called "screensaver" which manifested itself as an unseen technological abomination. I'm not sure how it was able to physically torture me without waking me up, but it did.
And it would show up out of nowhere. Even in the most peaceful, mundane dreams. When I felt it coming, I knew I had to wake up soon lest it got a hold of me. But most of the time, it was too fast. Too clever. And before i could close my unconscious eyes, I always found myself strapped to a metal contraption where it poked and prodded and tormented all of my senses. Until it moved on, leaving me to wake in my bed, breathless and drenched in sweat.

There is nothing in this world that makes me feel more safe than this man’s voice, even if it’s a horror game he’s playing. He’s just my comfort person, and I’m so glad I found him. Mind you, I’m 20 years old and I started watching him when I was like 12 or 13, but in the last few years I started having some troubles sleeping- and nothing helped. Fortunately, Mark’s voice is just so soothing, that I’m pretty sure I shuffled thru his entire channel at least 5 times by now. I’m just glad that I found him. 💜

@@iipecacuanha This is what it reminded me of!!! thank you, i couldnt remember the name of this arg for the life of me!
Its a fictional account of a place that’s a national park similar to yellowstone. The main difference being that instead of being located over a supervolcano, its located inside of a very large cavern made of biological matter. In other words its a giant cave system made up of the body of a buried amd still living super sized underground creature. Its similar to scp in that we don’t know much about it and what we DO know is shown through old posters and pictures as well as government files and stuff. Its not really a video, more like an online thing you can read. It’s definitely worth a look
15:12.... So it seems to me like they're taking bodies (or perhaps living people) and leaving them by the crystals to get spore-ified.
The possibility of the "Food" being alive is the most concerning part, here. Why are they taken? Did they do something to warrant being sent down here?
3:56 mild - gong like sound
6:50 MAJOR - as other comments suggested. Editor puts a loud jump scare here. Large cartoon eyes and jagged teeth take up the whole screen and scream at you at this second. That's so fucking rude, lol.
6:54 mild - right afterward there's an ominous echoey sound and a "motion detected" notification that puts Mark on high alert.
9:34 moderate - sudden ominous sustained not and the screen becomes very grainy. A shadowy figure can be seen approaching the drone before quickly vanishing.
11:43 mild - another echoey impact sound and a notification of motion detected.
12:14 mild - echoey impact sound, screen shakes as a tremor causes large boulders to fall down the charm right in front of him. There's also a body that falls with them but it's very hard to see.
12:42 mild - comes across the bloodied corpse of a miner. It's fuzzy and low poly, however.
13:34 mild - finds another body and scans it. After scanning we get another echoey gong and a bunch of those little red motes fly out of the burrow where that body is. The VHS blue background pops up.
14:45 mild - blue background guess away and the cavern is filled with lots of very small wiggling tentacles.
16:12 mild - rounds a corner to see red crystals and a body bag with tentacles sticking out of it.
17:07 moderate - grain and shadowy figure comes back, standing in the puddle he's scanning. Vanishes.
17:51 mild - a shadow of a man is cast on the wall to the left.
23:31 moderate - screen rumbles in a tremor. Entire screen turns to static. Text background pops up but it's red now. Afterwards, the environment looks almost molten, still with tentacles.
24:42 mild - strange agitated large creature sounds.
27:24 mild - in the belly of the beast now. Lots of large gross tentacles waving about.
27:52 moderate - the crevice that is being scanned opens up and there's a large eye behind it. Monster starts screaming. Then cuts to static.
And that's it! When Markiplier signs off and says "bye bye!" It hangs on looping footage of the giant eye.
As a Carlos, we are the life of the party, and I loved the acknowledgment. Thanks, Mark!

14:07 -- So, over time we send half of humanity down into the caves, let them crystallise and harvest the energy. This way we solve overpopulation and energy crisis.
This game reminds me that we haven’t had any good horror movies about caves in a long while. The best I’ve seen to date is still “The Descent”. This game’s concept could be a really cool horror movie if executed well.
It never fails that Lixian’s jump scares always are perfect with an ad cut
The overlay of the cave system and missing people are very similar because they also match the population maps. Humans have discovered and mapped caves around where they live. Also, missing people are only reported in places where people live. You can overlay any two maps that require people to live there, and you'll see a matching pattern. For example, compare 'pounds of sherbet ice cream eaten per year' and, say 'crocs purchased per year' and you'll see a similar match. It's just population.
well, it's also probably the fact that it's very easy to go missing in caves. likely a combination of both these factors
@uncropped soop it's easy to go missing in caves but not a lot of people do, compared to the total population, because not a lot of people go into caves in the first place
@@geekjokes8458 yeah definitely, that's why it's likely a combination of the two factors (that and the maps were probably deliberately skewed to add to the effect)
okay but, how are you sure that its not just people who eat a lot of sherbet ice cream that purchase crocs and are alive who are being abducted by hidden cave creatures? maybe its all connected!
I love how both this and Input6 are like, VHS analog horror, the game. They use it so well.

The weirdest part of it is the fact that I have distinctly drawn the map and the insides of each part of the cave, as well as everything else from that dream, and the dream was about 5 years ago. I drew it the night after and a few days ago drew it again and it looked the exact same (with a bit of artistic improvement). I woke up in the dream the first night on top of a sleeping bag with a backpack next to me and there was no fear. I had a flashlight, some food, some water, the sleeping bag, a spare coat, and exactly $37.62. I can still draw the exact placement of those from where I woke up.
You thought it was a nightmare but it was a dream, of a realistic cave crawling trip
@@vry9453 it wasn’t scary at the time but it’s kinda creepy in hindsight, especially since I still remember it now.
Ok
