  • Lisa Gade reviews the affordable HP Pavilion x360 14” with Intel 10th gen CPUs and optional 4G. The convertible laptop starts at $529, but has the specs and build of a more expensive Ultrabook. Thanks to our video’s sponsor, iFixit. Visit them here to check out their toolkits: ifix.gd/mobiletechreview . The Pavilion x360 is available with HD and full HD displays supporting touch and HP’s active pen (N-Trig / MPP 2.0). It has 2 RAM slots, an M.2 NVMe SSD, an MS Precision trackpad and is available in our silver or Forest Teal colors.

I've had the Pavilion x360 14-dh1051TX for about 2 months now, best value purchase! Nothing else in it's price range came anywhere near the specs of this for a touchscreen laptop. This one has the Nvidia Geforce MX250 card, 16g RAM and i7 10510U. Device + pen + 3 years warranty for less than $1,200 aud was a good deal with the HP student discount. Great for daily use, light, long-lasting battery and can manage light gaming. Battery lasts about an hour gaming, about 4-5 hours surfing web and CZcams.

@@dereckmakanza8440 it's still a great laptop, only thing I can fault it for is getting a little too hot even under light use. Sometimes tweaking settings can help this but sometimes it gets heatsoaked and never completely cools down again until the next use.

It tend to get heated when i use the white board with google meet and couple of pages but it manageable. I run it on power saving mood and thing are pretty good. I even record a lectures on it and edit it with windows built n video editor and it's doing a good job so far.

Purchased one laptop HP Ce3065tu.It has a problem in fan.But HP claims that it comes like that only from manufacturing.Problem is at running a burdensome task,as soon as fan starts and attains speed,a whistling faint jet type of noise is there.I had been with dell till now. With HP current purchase i realise that these brands are now history in terms of good products.HP executive himself accepting the fact that now products are designed with inferior quality to cut costs. He cited same example of my laptop model saying that fan is now made smaller which increase rpm leading to sound. My just 2 months back purchased model was Dell Vostro 3590 which i returned back to Dell facing heavy loss of INR 9000 as restocking charges.Firstly i did not like in this laptop was again the fan.It used to blow a lot giving noise. Not only this the company in dell sales catalog mentioned in specs for display as "full hd resolution with backlit" having no mention of word which type of display it is.On getting laptop,it had severe bad viewing angles along with high fan noise.Maam i have a question to you .Is it that good laptops for programming cost only $2000 above ? I have an inhibition that the model with you too is plagued with same issue. To reproduce.(1) Download geekbench 5 for windows. (2) Install and run on your laptop doing any one of provided test.(3) As you see around 50% completion, bring ear closer to air outlet.(4) Listen to a sound that is whistling, like jet and badly irritating.

I would have to agree, you'd be better off getting a good color gamut TV or monitor for about $150, a huion 1060 tablet for $80 and a decent used laptop or desktop computer.
Or a huion kamvas 13 for $250 and a decent used computer with the rest.

    • @DoctorCrimes
      @DoctorCrimes Před 3 lety +1

      Nasty-looking Navi
I have a Surface go(8gb ram ssd version), and this tiny thing have good screen(calibrated with good Delta E) but it’s just enough for drawing, I don’t recommend use Photoshop (pen gets lag sometimes, and of course you cannot use a lot filters). But in ClipStudioPaint is very stable.
At $599, if you don’t care about portability, the only solution is get a intel NUC(290$ aprox) and a huion kamvas 12 or xp-pen artist 12(200$ aprox), the rest buy some coke and ice with some keyboard and mouse.
I already owned a Huion kamvas pro 16 premium (honestly I don’t really like the new technology with zero distance from pen to screen, its make the screen hardware pixel have some distortion, it’s just looks weird.) and I still using it
I had a ugee pro 16 after 1-2years of normal using, some dusting got into to screen, some pixels died, i see less color than a smartphone, just cannot believe this thing is for an artist.(xppen and ugee is using same hardware provider in some models BE CARE FOR, they looks like same company, ugee is more oriented for China, im Chinese tho)
I owned a ipad pro 12.6 inch, is pretty good ,with good screen, very smooth when you working on it, the problems come when you want some Photoshops and clipstudiopaint feature, because the only option is a software called procreate(hey, is good software, but i dont like the brush settings, i see how is improving, you can forget something like medibang is good for drawing stuffs but not enough for me, autodesk sketchbook is good for drawing sketchs , clipstudiopaint for ipad is a high cost software )
Now normally, i use a macbook pro with a wacom tablet, and I think this is the best combination for me(i dont like the surface pro or go because their technology is not accurate like wacom)
      Sorry for my English

I like the form factor and the design of the Envy much better. However, I'm wondering if i should into consider getting the pavillion because of upgradeable ram and if ill need it in the future. 8 gb of ram is enough for the applications i run now( basic DAWs ) . But not sure of the future. 16gb variants are not available here. Please advise :)

I use the last years variant with touch and pen screen, fingerprint sensor and dedicated graphics. It‘s a nice machine with decent sound and good battery life in normal use. I hate the high battery drain while turned off, the slow CPU, the 2016 iPad Pro runs circles around it when it comes to video rendering. Stay away from the HD version, it‘s utterly pointless to buy it, the quality of the panel is horrible.

@@williemwangi4959 AMD did an amazing job with this new processors, not only beating intel's peers in speed but also utilizing less power. You should look at the HP envy x360 (better screen, better processor, higher build quality), it has an AMD version at a very similar price or the Lenovo ideapad flex (as cheap as the pavillion, also as bad screen).

@@jordanalejandrocorona6247 Thanks for your insights. The problem with the ones you suggested is small screen size, maybe a "15" would have been good for me.

Never liked HPs outer case. Not the machine but the case they built on. Jts just does not scream "hey I am very powerful." Its not bland but just boring.

You should reach HP and suggest to change its logo, that's ugly logo, better to change to the new one in high end models and apply in all types of HP products.
