It was about 11 miles and about 3 1/2 thousand feet of elevation and we left the maroon Bells lake trailhead at about 7:30 AM and we got to the West maroon Trail head on the crested Butte side at about 3 PM after stopping off for some lunch and enjoying some of the ridiculousness of the beauty. You need to use a shuttle service from the company called blazing adventures to drop you off at the trailhead nice and early, because the bus doesn't go all the way up there at that time of the day. On the other side, you need to look up a company that runs the shuttle from the West Marine trailhead in crested Butte that takes you about 10 miles into crested Butte downtown and the company is called Dollys Shuttle, they were about three streams and no trouble whatsoever. We stayed the night at the Christiana Guesthaus crested Butte on the other side. We were going to hike back the other way, but decided to take a scenic drive around independence pass, so we just jumped on the free bus to Gunn and airport and rented a vehicle that we could drop off at Aspen later that afternoon. Next time I think we'll just hike both ways but we will start in crested B and do it the opposite direction. It's probably much easier from crested Butte. Sorry, I never saw this comment. Seven months ago when you asked the question lol.
