  • In a new video series from Powder Productions, called Passing Through, we offer a quick perspective on stashes to ski, chairs to lap, bars to après, food, and accommodations. In this episode, we explore Colorado's Crested Butte, and learn what makes this end-of-the-road outpost one of the more core ski areas and towns in North America. From the inbounds steeps to the iconic Elk Street, CB is a must-stop on the skier's checklist.

Learned to ski here in the 1990s. They had free lift tickets and lessons between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Skied there in 1990 for a week awesome place. We sampled everything it had to offer. Lots of fun steeps. When we were there they had a detachable high speed platter lift is it still there?

I have never, not once had a good snow day at crusty butt. I skip the crested butte freeride qualifiers every year because I know the snow will be shit, and I'm right every time.

"We're eager to show this place to you and show you all the stashes" - that dude 2017. Cut to 2018, CB joins Vail Resorts.. EVERY CB LOCAL: *proceeds to lose their mind in a fit of rage over all the front range goobers having access to their mountain*

Did Vile ooops I mean Vail buy CB? Please tell me it not so. Vail has totally f%%ked up Whistler. Left because of them.

@@dreweflin Well I guess they’re off my list of places to go.
They were poking around our local mountain where I live now but the owners decided not to sell to them and sold to Powdr resorts. We dodged a bullet there.

Vail for the FAIL and Alterra FTW. They have all the best extreme terrain centric mountains anyways; Jackson, Big Sky, Bird/Alta, A-Basin, Squaw, Taos, Crystal

This place sucks, shuts down completely for the month of April. Sharky false advertising from the local hotels is abhorrent. Especially the Grande Lodge. They advertised amenities and when we arrived they told us that all amenities were closed. I checked out early and asked for a refund and was refused. We stayed one night to rest to drive back and were charged over $500. Terrible.

I agree totally about the lodging situation there, and the land owners seem like crooks trying to squeeze every penny out of the place, but with that being said it has some incredible skiing haha
