Is this the same idea how they got the sound of the magnetic field of the earth? How can we be sure that whatever device is used that the sound being produced is actually how that particular thing sounds like?

It's a good point. I mean, really electromagnetic waves don't have any sound (which is why we can't hear them), so this device is just a sonification of those waves, and, by nature, kind of arbitrary in its sonificaiton.

Hi there, good video! I also made my version of Elektrosluch several months ago, but with added potentiometer and the on/off switch with a yellow LED, and arranged the electronics into enclosure with a 9V battery compartment. Question: Is there any simple and cheap way of directly connecting this device to pc from 3.5 mm audio jack via some cable, or just plugging the stereo speakers in and then simply recording the sounds with a mic? Thanks in advance!

Sounds great! I actually either usually run mine into a mixer (with a 3.5mm to dual, left and right 1/4 cable), or into my portable recorder (with the same cable). Something like this - www.amazon.com/Hosa-CMP-153-Stereo-Breakout-Cable/dp/B000068O3C/ (of course no need to get it on Amazon, might be cheaper to buy locally).

@@SimonHutchinson I see. However, unfortunatelly, I don't have this portable recorder and can't currently afford it. I'd just like to take some recordings of various devices around me with the Electrosluch, and if possible feed the sound data directly through my computer's motherboard jack/jacks, or maybe even usb port? If there isn't such option, then I'll just connect it to my speakers and increase its volume while recording with my phone.

What is the value of the inductor you used? The guide doesn't mention a value.

22mH (I had to check). It looks like the value is in these schematics too: github.com/LOM-instruments/Elektrosluch-3/blob/master/hardware/elektrosluch_scheme.pdf Good luck! 😃

you will be shocked by the sounds if you put it near servo of a working 3d printer
