    So basically, it's possible to make actual music using just JPGs and PNGs.

      probably not either of those file formats, ive tried this, they just make static no matter the contents of the image. maybe a format that encodes data more literally instead

    Hey Abir, that's amazing! Do you have any words on how you set up the image file for audacity? I am just getting into databending and this looks really interesting. The connection between the audio and visual respresentation of said audio in the most simplistic way possible really hits my aesthetic taste.

    • @cassidyrenno8596
      @cassidyrenno8596 Před 9 měsíci +10

      For still images, (on windows) right click, click edit, then save as .bmp (bitmap). For macOS or Linux or whatever else, you could use a file converter online. In audacity, file>import raw data then select your bmp file. I recommend using U-Law to encode, as it is most consistent, but idk what Abir used, so you might have to experiment. Other settings don't matter. If you want to export as an image again, go to file>export>export audio then make sure it is using the same encoding as when you imported it (so for me it would me U-Law again) and that the file type is RAW Headerless. In the file name, make sure the file extension is bmp.
      For animated GIFs, you do the same import/export, but you don't need to change the file type, just keep it as a gif.
