- On the 9th video of my 2024 Travels, I camp at the City of Rocks State Park in New Mexico. This is my kind of city! Although I had a "Rocky" start, things were better after admiring this truly unique State Park.

The stars in New Mexico are unreal!
Especially in that area! Western New Mexico has great night skies
Hot damn sir, I am super impressed with your drone! That thing is amazing.
Your photography is so good. I love the way you see the world. Thank you for your wholesome, wonderful content. And thank you for sharing your meal with us ❤
We sure loved City Of Rocks.
Incredible video. I never cease to be amazed at the lengths you go to provide such amazing vlogs. Many thanks. Stay safe.
Hello again Slim and thumbs UP! I will watch the video twice because it is an amazing video! I appreciate all the time that you put into filming and editing. The night time lapse of the Star lite sky is mesmerizing ! Thank you for taking us along Slim!
I kept waiting too see Fred and Wilma. Keep the good stuff coming.
Ya know what?! I wondered why it seemed familiar when there! Of course! You're right. 😊😂😅
Me too! And Dino!

Wow!
I haven't been there since I was a child...
Before it was commercialized...
No picnic tables, no fee to go in, you could park anywhere you wanted, have a picnic.and crawl all over the rocks!!
Really love your Nightscape / Astro Timelapse !!! Awesome :-)))
Magical Place ❤
Night lapse is
breathtaking ❣️
Thank You 🙏👍
Love the way you articulate your travels in your videos. Prayers of safty hapiness and health
There are only a few non reservation sites for camping. Half of the hook up sites, I think it was the odd numbers and the non-hookup sites around 40 to 45. Everything else is reservation only. Sites 29 to 33 are dubious since the west windmill makes noises when the wind blows.
The visitor center is only open when they have a volunteer to man it. There is one there on Monday's. It was closed Tuesday and Wednesday when we were there St. Paddy's day weekend.
Amazing video, loved the night sky.
Look in Wal-Mart in the isle where the boxes and bag potatoes are, Hungry Jack makes a hash browns in a box milk carton shaped. Just add water, then fry. No refrigeration needed. 😁
Loved the "follow you camera" perspective. Great video! 😁😁😎😎👍👍
You can get dehydrated hash browns. They come in a small carton (like you'd get milk in). You pour hot water in the carton, rehydrate the hash browns, and fry them up. Anything left in the carton, you put in your fridge for breakfast, with eggs. :)
Nice wildlife and rock sculptures. That one looked rock hard. :)

The photography is excellent. Beautiful park, 2thumbs up.
Nicely done ! I knew one minute into this that I was going to enjoy your content so I subbed. I live in the T or C area and came here in my RV back in November of 2017. I came from CT with the express intention of living full-time in the state parks with an annual pass, which was very inexpensive. The camping used to be so easy. Very little hassle. But then Covid came and everything changed for the worst. They closed all the parks down during the pandemic, then when they reopened, everything was turned on its head.
Used to be that those off-grid sites like those you tried to camp on were all first come, first served. And there used to be a certain number of sites with electric and water that were also only for first-come campers, so you always had a chance of finding one when you got there. But now all that is just a memory. And we never had to go through Reserve America. That ruins everything.
I camped in the City of Rocks one week and it was really cool. I stayed in the rows where there was electric but those sites that are off-grid are spectacular.
You had me scratching my head, trying to figure out who was following you with a camera. I thought it must be one of those 360 cameras that you can't see the pole it's attached to, but I couldn't see where it would be attached to you. Then toward the end I figured it was a drone. Very tricky, sir.
I will check out the rest of your NM content before moving on to other places. NM has a lot to offer, which is why I stayed. I'm in an RV park fulltime now so my days of traveling came to an end for now. I've been parked for a number of years. I got really tired of moving around.
Take care and thanks for the great content. ~ Cheryl
ETA: I just noticed you don't respond to comments. I wonder if you even have it set-up to get alerts when someone comments on your videos. I hope you figure it out one day !
Actually, I do respond to comments, just not all of them! I typically am live to respond the first 2 hours of a new video. Thanks! SP
What a fascinating park.
The owl did it for me.
I always hear them, but never see them.
I am in New Mexico and we have two living in our back yard. They hoot it up all night long sometimes.
Almost reminds me of the set for the Movie "Picnic at Hanging Rock"... a very creepy movie for its day....thanks again very enjoyable
Thanks once again my friend for another great video. I appreciate all the work you put into this video.
Great synopsis and photography; brings back memories when we camped there a couple years ago. City of Rocks Visitor Center is definitely worth the time as well. The overall "theme" of the park is sky, constellations, planets...all things astronomical due to the clear, incredible night skies. The trail Slim walked on through the rocks has interpretive signs that are placed proportionate to our planet system with the trailhead near the visitor center the center sun. So you'll get a few signs right away, and then they're spaced further apart as you walk. Campsites are named for constellations. It's really a wonderful gem. By the way, the two birds were Canyon Towhee and Rock Wren (along with raven and great horned owl). Well done. A fun place to stay; 2-3 nights will give you plenty of time to enjoy all the amenities. Oh, the Deming area has a few wineries that are worth a stop!!!
We have great state parks in New Mexico! All of them require you to make reservations through Reserve America. We are sorry to see that you did not camp at the state park in Alamogordo - that's our all-time favorite! At the City of Rocks, we camped in the section for the large RVs and it was SO dusty. People drive by and the dirt kicks up. Like you, we weren't thrilled with the unlevel spots. Thanks for showing the beauty of our state.
Love the beard. City of Rocks rocks. I love the names you gave the rock formations. Thanks
Great video and an awesome place to hang out.
Another bell ringer of an episode. You are a great traveling man. NM grows on you, a beautiful state. Semper Gumby.
Simply an amazing video. We really love watching you on your adventures. The camera work in this one is fabulous.
We stayed there last year and loved it!! Very quiet, great scenery and plenty of hiking to do. And Deming is a nice small town. An even BETTER choice is south of Deming at Rockhound SP, outstanding views!!! And don't forget about chilis in Hatch, NM close by!!
Stunning video; I thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Thank you!
YAY!!!!!!!!!Thanks Slim!
Looks like a great spot to explore. Thanks for taking us along
Awesome as always 😎
Truly interesting spot...thanks for sharing with those of us who travel vicariously through you. A really unique park!
boy that is some really amazing scenery once again. I am really enjoying your trip, and now planning an itinerary to the American south west with our trailer. Keep up the great work, and as always safe travels......
Beautiful footage, fantastic video.
Love this landscape. Gives me a sense of time past - the ancient. Great post Slim!
I was fascinated by the trees, the rocks and their formations, that place is so magical. Thank you for your videos, I enjoy them a lot since I can't do this traveling thing. I am chained to a phone 40 hours a week and sometimes more. I hope one day not too far away to do the same too! 😊
You do a wonderful Job! Thanks for all the hard work.
Excellent as always thanks Slim👍👍😎
Boy o boy the wind is something but the rocks are a world of there own thanks for the trip 👍
Thank you again Slim😊
Slim, Idaho Spuds makes freeze-dried hash brown potatoes ! They come in small "milk carton" sized packages and are very easy to prepare. We find them at Costco and some other places as well. Tasty, easy and lightweight, what could go wrong? Gluten-free and NON GMO, just add water !
Good content Slim! I hope you are enjoying your travels! 😊
Holy time travel batman!. I thought I clicked on a far in the future Foresty Forest video.
Very enjoyable....Thanks Slimmy Slim
New Mexico is stunning, thanks for the video. Have a wonderful week
Thanks, Slim!
Outstanding video! Beautiful place with a spiritual vibe to it. Your already great videos over the years have gotten even better since adding the drone.
Thanks for sharing your travels with us , we look forward to the next video . Be safe .
Adding to my list of go-to campsites. Amazing desert sky night vids!
I went there a couple of years ago, and was really surprised how cool it was in the middle of nowhere. I walked all the places you did. It was great to revisit virtually. Thanks!
I can't believe I went through Deming a few years ago and never knew this place existed. I LOVE ROCKS. :)
Thanks for showing the travel video. This is a good example, if the use of a drone is OK, then places to explore and places to avoid.
New Mexico is amazing, thanks for the great video.
Again..awesome...thanks Slim, stay safe, we'll be waiting for your next one...🙂👍👍
City of Rocks is a place I’d like to visit. We don’t live that far away, just haven’t made it out there yet…
Love your little camper trailer, perfect for one person…
Subscribed as your content looks interesting.
Great video Slim. So relaxing to watch. I really enjoyed your walk through the boulders near dusk. The music was very spiritual. You could just almost picture what it would have been like for the first humans to find this area. They must have felt it was very sacred. Thank you for sharing your adventure.
Enjoyed the hikes. A beautiful place to visit.
I love the color of that Chevy!! It looked terrific in the direct sunlight!
You captured some beautiful images in this one. Well done.
Outstanding!
I look forward with excitement for your adventures, I love them so. Again I say you are an artist with your videos, so beautiful. Thank you for showing this City of Rocks to us, I have never seen them. They are cool.
This my friend is one of your best. I watched it twice. Amazing footage.
Beautiful!!
Wow, what a cool place! Love the blue skies and desert ambiance. Inspiring. Enjoy it !
You take beautiful videos. It seems as if we are there with you.
i was there at the city of rocks a few years ago but did not get to stay long enough for the kinds of hikes you did - makes me wanna go back - it is quite an unusual place
I would LOVE being in the rocks
I worked in the Visitor center about 20 years ago, and enjoyed being there.
Wow, so much fun to watch your excellent videography and editing, especially in such a beautiful setting. I agree about New Mexico's pay system for camping. Safe travels to you always.
Love your films😊 you take me to places I may never get to see other wise, Thank you so much🎉
i love these places you find. i want to taste that meal you made

Great Video! Thanks for all of your hard work!!!
I loved camping here!😊
Slim you rock!!!😂👍👏🏻
Beautiful picture and video of the stars. Love your videos.
I remember falling asleep in some of those rock-a-loungers!
I grew just 50 miles north of the City of Rocks in Silver City. For someplace that is really spectacular and off the beaten path, check out the Catwalk in Glenwood New Mexico. Kinda off the beaten path and one of my favorite places to visit when I get back down there.
great stuff thanks Slim
Beautiful.
Love your vidoes❤
Seen this twice first when it came out today and couldn't resist watching it again really good cinematography!!!.. Ps I hope that's the right word.lol
Nature is amazing
thanks for the vid sir - that place is really gorgeous especially with the low sun at the end there. The makeshift hash looked good too.
I just sat on my recliner for a moment of rest when a notification from CZcams appeared! I really enjoyed the video. Thanks Slim.
Love this park.
That was a beautiful video, it is amazing scenery. Thank you
Slim , you never fail to give me a giggle . I'll leave it up to your imagination what I'm talking about . Lol . Safe travels .

Slim that meal tasted wonderful! Thanks so much... I really could've used another bite or two though.....😂
