Mass Closure of 30,000 Travel Agencies, Shanghai’s Airports Empty, 90% Nosedive in Foreign Tourists

  • A year after the end of the CCP's pandemic lockdowns, China's economy shows no signs of recovery but rather a further downturn. In December, nearing the New Year, Shanghai's two busiest airports, Pudong and Hongqiao, have been reported as eerily quiet. The airport halls are empty, with only a few passengers coming and going, and most of the various shops and restaurants remain closed, visibly reflecting the extent of the economic slump.

When people consider China's loss in foreign currency revenues since 2019 they often fail to mention the $130 billion loss in tourism and a similar loss in expat spending. Coupled with the decline in exports and foreign investment and the increased capital flight the difference from 2019 is well over $500 billion in foreign currency entering or staying in China each year. And China was not able to increase its foreign reserves much above $3 trillion before this happened.

Traveling to china is veing controlled by the government. Foreigners have to repor to the police department when they arrive, foreign tourists can only stay at controlled government designated accomodations, foreign tourists can only buy train, plane ticket at designated passport controlled windows, foreign touripay more for everything. The sceneries are beautiful but full of scams. Why go to china? Why foreign government don't reciprocate with all the same treatment to chinese travellers? Ask you congress man if this is fair???

You're wasting your time fact checking them. This is sponsored by the Falun Gong, enemies of the CCP. Notice how all their "experts" are from Taiwan. However, this doesn't mean whatever they're saying is all false, China is definitely suffering the issues listed here. Travel agencies are closing and foreign travel to China is at all time low since the early 90's. Just don't look at the numbers provided here and pretend you're listening to a great story!

4:16 yeah that was bad. So what if there's a pandemic, it was all over the world but governments all over the world were not behaving this bad. That is no reason to treat innocent chinese people like violent criminals. It's hard to believe chinese citizen accepted this behaviour without major protests.
I hate the crap about banning people from talking about china's economy. The chinese people aren't stupid. They can see with their own eyes every day what is happening, they are the ones stuggling in the ecomony.
I hope china's next government is a lot more honest with its people!

China needs to expand VISA free travel or make it easier like VISA on arrival. At least for myself and a lot of people I know, we would be happy to travel (back) to China and in my case I would do several trips, but with the VISA process, I just prefer other destinations where i can do short term plannign for my travels.
