- On 18th June 1983 history was made when Kapil Dev scored 175 against Zimbabwe. 25 Years after that knock, Kapil Dev travelled to Turn Bridge Wells to relive the knock with Vikrant Gupta at the same ground. This knock of 175 wasn't televised and Kapil says if anyone has the footage he will give him a million dollars. Kapil rescued India from 17-5 and India won the 1983 World cup

...😊...absolute agreed...!...It was emotions by patriotic dear kapil sir who played for his nation....how many india cricketers have this level of commitment., madness as our kapil sir does....?....not a single cricketer as per my knowledge till dt(2023) n never will.....even today, when I remember those matches(zimbabve, n the final) I can't control my tears(at 50+).....his soft n grounded voice....unbelievable.....i still wonder where did that self belief/confidence came in his mind in those crisis moments.....?!......thanks....👍....

I remember that day. I was just 19 years old at that time and viewed 1983 world cup matches. But this match was not telecasted that day, we heard in news that India was 17 for 5 ,with regret we switched off news and went to sleep. In morning Tribune head line was that Kapil hit 175 runs and India won that match. Our joy knew no bounds . It was the matter of discussion for the days together. We searched many times the video of the match on net also, but it was not recorded as per the interview.
Enjoyed the great memories of the day and everything was refreshed by the above interview.

If Kapil Dev (175 not out) would not have stood tall and saved the team against Zimbabwe after 17/5 at Tunbridge Wells, then India would've returned home immediately.
This World Cup became possible ONLY BECAUSE OF KAPIL DEV'S UNSHAKEABLE TEAM FAITH AND SELF BELIEF THAT TIME.
I think Kapil Dev's 175 not out in SUCH A CRISIS SITUATION is infinitely better than Vivian Richards or even Donald Bradman knock !!! 🙏

So, full credit and endless respect to respected lower order batsmen legends Roger Binny, Madan Lal and Syed Kirmani who stood absolutely firm alongside the legend of Kapil Dev.
By the way, I have a surprising fact for all the worldly readers.
As per cricinfo, the report section (of Kapil Dev 175 against Zimbabwe) states that there was one Indian supporter in the crowd who captured Kapil innings from his place in crowd as he had brought a video camera.
In fact he made a lot of money from that video.

one of the best knock of our greatest cricketer of Indian history. no one close to his that inning.17/5 after that Kapil storm came and destroy the opposition do not compare that inning with Virat and ms dhoni. i saw in last champions trophy 2017 finals all Indian cricketers lost the match before the 2 nd inning started no passion no fighting spirit was there. but 1983 Kapil sir ur great and evergreen.

No Bradman, no Sachin, no Lara, no Viv Richards, no Gary Sobers, no Gavaskar ever played innings like this ever in their entire careers. All of them are great batsmen, though.

When India was on tour for Pakistan in 1978 India had lost the series very badly . That time i was reading in 8th class. Pakistani journalist were cutting jokes on India's player in news paper with cartoons but Pakistani have appreciated Kapil Dev's attitude because he has scored fifty in the match fearless. After that match people were waiting for Kapil Dev innings in all the matches. What a great player!!!
Kapil has played for the country his natural game. I remember one more game against England our team was heading for follow on . In that match he has smashed three sixer in one over to avoid follow on.
In 1983 when India was 17 for five against Zimbabwe's team. people have lost hopes of world cup and again he rises on the occasion scored brilliantly and his team won the world cup. Great honour for the country.
