    Man that chick receiving the email B-ROLL was insane! I had to stop and rewind. I love your b-roll commentary bro

    Solid reviews Rhett! Unchained also offers Concierge Onboarding calls, a 1-on-1 hour long walk-though with an expert, for a one-time fee.
    I think another big trade-off for people to consider is holding onto seed phrases. For some, Casa's seedless approach can make sense. Unchained views seed phrases as crucial to fault tolerance and inheritance.

      Good point, I should have brought up concierge onboarding. Definitely pros/cons to consider with holding the seed/not holding the seed but maybe the difference is not that big? Would be interested to hear security professional talk about pros/cons

      @@RhettReisman I think there are far more pros than cons when it comes it holding on to seed phrases. Happy to discuss if you have questions - I'm on the Concierge team at Unchained so something we talk about everyday. S. Porter wrote a great piece on our blog breaking down the trade-offs : "Why 2-of-3 is the right multisig setup for most individuals and businesses"

      @@RhettReisman Casa has all the pros/cons listed in their security protocal paper (which is impressively researched in my opinion) on their website. It's interesting that Casa and Unchained disagree on this, however Casa does recommend holding one of their three seed phrases (I think I have that correct), so therefore you can recover but not steal outright without the 2/3 or 3/5 signatures. Thanks for your reviews of both!

      Can you do a video on a backup strategy for a 2 of 3 Multi sig setup with Unchained as one of the holders? I’m unclear how to backup the xpubs, steel plates, etc at each location

    I'm a new subscriber. 🙂 Great, easy to follow explanation of the process.
    What would happen if Unchained/or other company with the multisig vault goes bankrupt, or site goes down? Similar to a Celsius or BlockFi going away.

    • @RhettReisman
      @RhettReisman  Před 7 dny +1

      If Unchained went out of business you could recreate your multisig with open source multisig software using the files they give you during vault setup and move to a new wallet from there.

    Thanks for the clear explanation. One quick question though - Do both the Ledger and the ColdCard need to have the same seed phrase in them?

    • @RhettReisman
      @RhettReisman  Před rokem

      No, they should be different. One seed + 2 keys is really just 1 key.

    • @mellowtime9712
      @mellowtime9712 Před rokem

      Thanks. I think my confusion comes from the term "cold wallet" which suggests that both devices point to the same wallet. I need to think of them as signing devices instead.

    • @RhettReisman
      @RhettReisman  Před rokem

      Yes! They’re really signing devices. Wallet has always been a bad/confusing term

    Valuable walkthrough thank you.
    In the case of a wrench attack, say I have one hw wallet at home and another elsewhere. so I'd be forced to ask unchained to use their key and create a video. Would it really help in that case, or would unchained simply authorize it and it makes no difference?

    • @RhettReisman
      @RhettReisman  Před rokem +1

      The wrench attacker would have to wait in your house while you made the video and then stay there for the hours/days that it took Unchained to process your video - doesn’t really seem plausible

      @@RhettReisman Thanks.
      I'd hope they take days rather than hours. Would be great if there was a duress signal somehow (which not only stopped the txn but sent police)

    • @RhettReisman

      Casa sets up a distress phrase, I imagine you could set up something similar with Unchained

    What happens if unchained goes out of business? It looks like you have to keep your money in their wallet.

    • @RhettReisman
      @RhettReisman  Před rokem +2

      You can restore the wallet in electrum or sparrow or some other generic bitcoin wallet software. I’ll be making more unchained videos this year to show some of those use cases

    Now that casa has ethereum support, would you say it’s best to move to unchained capital.

    • @RhettReisman
      @RhettReisman  Před rokem +1

      I don’t have a strong opinion about Casa supporting ethereum. Business is business.
      In my opinion, the best reason to move to unchained is the fact that it’s much cheaper.
