Both are great trucks at the end of the day. I am partial to the styling of the OBS 7.3, it’s my absolute favorite body style of any truck. That’s really the only reason I’d go for the Ford over the Dodge. You can’t go wrong with either one.

My son has the 99 powerstroke with north of 35k miles on it, auto trans. Real workhorse, alternator problem is the only expenditure. I have an '03, 3500 dually, auto trans . Both would be benifiting with a 5 spd trans. The 12 valve,5.9, is without doubt, the best Cummins in the series,(discounting some design flaws like the alignment pin or death pin as its known by). Either one is a winner.

I'd definitely take the OBS 7.3 Powerstroke ZF5 but as an ext cab, imo the interior is better for a mid 90s diesel truck, if you're looking to buy one though for a performance diesel build I'd def go 12v or 24v Cummins all the way especially since the price is a lot lower cuz the 7.3 Powerstroke would cost way too much money to just make a few more hp

More small cost sensors on the Ford, but as far as big $ engine problems neither have many but Cummins has more. The Ford is much better built over all and less costly to run as far as drive train issues. I think overall, the Ford is cheaper to run as a whole, not Powerstroke vs Cummins, so I would choose the Ford all day long especially those two examples. Mostly stock vs heavily modded, stock wins.
