    You've just scratched the surface on this genius. Their albums are an accompaniment to a series of graphic novels the lead singer created. All the characters are based on his family members I believe.

      They aren’t an accompaniment. Some of the albums came out first. They also can be regarded on their own merits. Claudio has stated over and over that he was too shy to write about himself straight forward so he wrote about his life, experiences, thoughts through his characters. This song in particular is about the breakup with his girlfriend who he thought was done for good, then later became his wife, Chandra.
      It is easier to understand the meanings of some of the songs if your read the comics.

    Coheed and Cambria is legitimately one of THE most unique bands in existence EVER. They tell a legit full length story throughout all of their albums and songs from comics made by the lead singer. It takes a lot of patience and hours to listen to every record to get the full story experience but it’s so incredibly worth it. I have every single album and song and it’s just so amazing every time I go back to any of their records. “Toys” and “Everything Evil” are 2 of my absolute favorites. They are just so dam good. From what I understand they get a lot of inspiration from bands like Queen and Kiss. They are a concept band and I highly recommend them to everyone although I do understand it’s hard for some ppl to get “into” them. I’ve had a few friends that heard a couple songs and were like “na not my cup of tea” but then pushing them further they change their minds lol. Truly one of the best bands of our time

    • @adelaide421
      @adelaide421 Před rokem +3

      Absolute truth. While they do take inspiration from many many bands. My favorite quote from Claudio back in the second stage turbine Era when asked what inspired their sound he just goes "rush and iron maiden". Which the song 2113 is a direct homage to 2112 by rush.

I’ll be reading the amory wars while listening to the songs aligning with what I’m reading. My favorite band of all time. Their storytelling is amazing but I also love music that tells a story and you have to really listen to figure out what they’re singing about, unfortunately many people don’t understand and can’t fully appreciate them.

Coheed has been my favorite band since their first album came out 20 years ago, so I'm so excited for your journey into their discography. The single word I use most often to describe them is, "epic" because it truly embodies the feeling, the story, and the emersive nature of their work. A couple others have said it, but I want to echo that you MUST see them play live. It is a next-level, off-the-charts, never-want-it-to-end journey into rock heaven. Hope to see you at a show!

    Important to recognize their live performances are a separate entity to their studio albums. Their albums are meticulously crafted almost like a cinematic soundtrack due to how the songs actually came about in the first place, whereas the live performances are more rock-out-oriented.
    Their songs are based off a running story called The Amory Wars that the band has made. There is a graphic novels series that serves as accompaniment to each and every song, which is why the lyrics are so specific.
    Absolutely a creative powerhouse of a band.

      @@t0fuwaffles technically you’re correct. The publication came after the album. But the storyline and demos of the comics were in existence way before song lyrics were ever written.

    What I love so much about. Coheed and cambria is they are absolutely amazing live! They bring so much energy to the show and are easily the best band I’ve ever seen live! Their live performances are as good, if not better than their studio recordings!

    Damn near every single Cohered album is a masterpiece. Like you can hit random on their discography and it'll be a guaranteed banger. I'd say start at their first album and just enjoy the ride.

    I discovered Coheed and Cambria back in 2007, so a few albums in. I haven't stopped listening to them since. Year of the Rainbow was lacking a bit IMO, but all of the other Amory Wars / Keywork albums have been amazing.
