- Today we're at Uncle Moe's in Calgary, AB with a bit of an audience no less...the obstacle that lies before us is the legendary 'Donairosaurus Rex' challenge...
Diners get 40 minutes in which to finish a huge donair, topped with veggies and a sauce of your choice. If you can get it down, it's on the house. If not it's $50! This thing has been around well over a decade and has been completed a fair few times, but today we're gonna have a crack at the all-time record, since a few subscribers came to watch...

Evening all! Thanks for joining me for another episode…
Tonight we’re going toe to toe with a distinct Canadian delicacy called a donair (which as far as I can tell is just a doner kebab) but not just any donair…oh no…a donair challenge that’s been around over a decade and is so big they call it The Donairosaurus Rex! I hope you enjoy it and I’ll see you again sooner than you think 😘
*Also, just by way of explanation to the newer subscribers, I noticed a few people in the comments section on the last video seemed confused and/or upset about the distance between the filming date and release date of new videos on the channel. To clarify, all my videos are shot a good two to three months before the date they’re actually published. I do this for a number of important reasons, but mostly so that if say I’m hit by a car tomorrow, or more likely Mrs Beard beats me unconscious with a stale garlic baguette, then the audience I value so much has stuff to watch for a good quarter year while I recover. I hope that makes some sense. Lots of love, you’re old chum BMF ❤️
I like your videos mate.
this reads like Mrs beard has already beaten you to death with a baguette and is desperately typing this out to buy herself some time.
Evening mate 😂
Was wondering why it was so cold. Calgary is actually quite nice in the summer!

I adore how hospitable the restaurant staff were. That dude is obviously a legend and loves what he does. When I eventually get my ass from Australia to Canada, he's earned my patronage just from that attitude.
Indeed, it's also the fact that Calgarians were just slowly coming out of their long winter hybernation cycle, and the most interesting thing that happened in months was a moose sighting near the Bow river..
I eat at uncle Moe’s regularly. Every time I’m in there and see the challenge I wonder how fast the beard would kill it. Now I know. What a nice surprise! Thanks

The sweet sauce is Donair Sauce! When I first tried it, I was kinda skeptical, but then I had a lot of it on one Donair and it opened up my world! It’s a sauce that you have to lean in to to really get the full effect and enjoy it! It’s just sweetened condensed milk, vinegar, and garlic powder! It’s so simple but so impactful!
Sounds awesome!!!
My wife and I have been going there for years. I've never tried the challenge. But next time I go I will. Awesome stuff Adam. 💯
You’d better 😂
@@Beardmeatsfood I will my friend. Thanks for the reply.

Great hosts. This is the first I’ve seen that I think I could do.
Normally these challenges make me think no way, but this one is making me hungry, would definitely try it because easy to reheat later lol
This was a good one. That guy was so wholesome and Adam, as expected, is a class act.
Loved this one . I came for the eating , stayed for the local cheerleaders , so hyped they were so excited to meet Beard.
The sweet donair sauce is Canadas own creation and it is indeed heaven on donair meat! I love chopped tomato, lettuce and a little cheddar cheese - so good! We also are known for Donair pizza, and garlic cheese fingers which comes with the same sweet sauce...sooo delish!
I love donair pizza so much
Beard uses it as a lubricant. Nothing to do with the taste.
You can make your own donair sauce with a can of sweetened condensed milk, half a can or about ¼ cup of vinegar and 1 tsp of garlic powder (more or less depending on you taste) I put it all in a mason jar and shake. Goes really good with Garlic Fingers. If you're ever on the east coast of Canada you'll need to try them. I'm sure you'll feel like you're at home there! Lots of Scotish and Irish bloodlines there!
SO THAT'S WHY I SHIT LIQUID ANYTIME I GET SWEET/DONAIR SAUCE on my donnies.
Good to know, good to know. I mean, I'm still gonna continue getting it and shitting liquid, but good to know...
Adam, it must be a mind blow when you're half way around the other side of the world and a random person recognises you in a car park.
yeah, still feels strange, but I'm incredibly thankful to meet people who like to watch what I do :)
How have you not got a series on Netflix by now? Forget your crazy ability to eat everything but the plate, it’s your editing and talkover skills that keep everything so light hearted and family friendly! Keep up the great work beard
@@keefteezak6739 no. Beard can do better on his own. No contacts or having to listen to producers and writers. No makeup or lifting setups. He's doing great I'm his own and doesn't have to deal with anyone.

Here in Sherbrooke Quebec donairs are not a thing.... We're in the land of poutine 'round here!! There's this english pub in the anglo part of town right next to Bishop's University in the Lennoxville borough. For a time, one of the students at uni was a guy from Halifax who worked in the kitchen at the pub... As soon as he started working there, donairs were added to the menu and he really killed it!! For the few years he was there we got real deal donairs and the sweet sauce is what really ties it together!!! Nothing else around here gets close to what we had then!!!

That was a great crowd of cheerleaders. Congratulations for being Joel's record.
The Canadian Donair was invented in Halifax NS and tastes very different from a doner kebab popular in much of the world. It's a very different thing that is typically a spiced beef meat with tomatoes, onion, occasionally cheese, and donair sauce on top. (evaporated milk, sugar and spices). It's a popular late night snack here on the east coast. No, it doesn't taste anything like a typical doner kebab, although it has similarities and was based off of them.
PS, Beard I still want to see you try out A&W. IMO the best fast food place and amazing onion rings for a fast food joint.
Ah, so that's why it's written differently! I was starting to wonder if there are differences by design. Thanks a lot for clearing this up :)
So besides the sauce, why do you believe that what you described is different from a normal doner?
That just sounds like a normal kebab with a different sauce?
@@goldenghostinc the meat is different than a typical kebob. All spiced beef

Loved the fans being in attendance. Particularly because they were fun and encouraged you to go for the record but also because it's a different twist with everyone there knowing what you do and the banter that brings
We had a Döner shop here in Germany in a small town close to me that sold Dürüm just a bit smaller than that but that was the only size they sold. Two people would always eat one and even then it was too much sometimes. It was dirt cheap too, unfortunately they went out of business a few years ago.
Warum wohl
We ate döner at least once a day when I went to Berlin. So good.
Döner Kebab is some sort of german national dish and one of the most popular foods for take out. It fills my heart with joy seeing you taking on such a challenge
Though I wish this guy would use a purer meatstick instead of one laced with minced meat :)
It's actually turkish. It was brought to Germany by Turkish migrants and is really popular as a street food.
@@rossco010 Yes, I know. I didn't talk about who invented it :D

As a Doner Kebab lover... this one is my jam mate lol. Shout out to this awesome Kebab house! I hope the residents of the city show them some love.
This is actually slightly different from a doner kebab. In Canada, we have the Donair, which was created in Halifax. It uses the same meat, served traditionally with tomatoes & onions, but uses a specially created Donair sauce (which BLF talked about) basically made from garlic and sweetened condensed milk. It's really is incredible.
That looks delicious 🤤 I could just eat a quarter of that right now haha 😆
