- Today we explore the stealth cruisers and their consequences. Before you ask, yes the bird is now freed from my realm.
-Stealth Ships-
-Engi made? Yes.
-Adequate shielding? No.
-Initial weapons? Adequate.
Chance of total ship destruction: High
Chance of total ship desctriuction of foe has attack drones: Inevitable
Also, thank you all for watching! My last FTL video want insano-style, and that is epic.

saying Simo was a "deadeye" is the understatement of the century
man went and got 570+ kills with his rifle, and that's just with his rifle that he could confirm, he didn't keep count of the SMG kills
he had an artillery strike called on him personally when the soviets learned he was nearby, which is why he looks so messed up, he caught a hunk of shrapnel in his face as a result
I knew the Soviets messed him up somehow, but that’s insane! I may have to do some research on him
Wikipedia says he was shot in the face with an explosive bullet.
@@rodrikforrester6989 might've been he was injured by the arty but not killed, i've been wrong before, but the exploding bullet is even worse
Stealth B my beloved. Probably the most inconsistent ship in the game but damn it's fun to obliterate things with the Glaive Beam
Oh agreed
@@SamsSideshow Do you remember Empress of Light?
How about being one?
I played many many many attempts on the DA-SR12 to win on hard mode, and the only one I actually beat the flagship I sold the glaive beam right away.
Yeah, it occurred to me that selling it may be the best strategy. Something to tinker with, I suppose
I'm inclined to agree with that strategy for the simple reason that beam weapons are only powerful in the early game. Except for the party laser on the federation cruiser.
I got one where I won with the glaive beamon my very first run with it, and then a lot of frustration. I don';t know if I've gotten to the flagship again with it. Think I gave up at some point. I think if you find a shop in sector 1 with a laser weapon, your idea is a good one. But too often, I don't find such a shop.
@@emzetkin1100 Halberd beam is very good on the flagship, provided you have lasers to remove enough shields. Only good beam (except artillery) but really, really good beam. I would say the mini beam is good if you get it with a ship, but it drops off fast.
@@honourabledoctoredwinmoria3126 Yeah you've got to get some good luck on the weapon you swap it out for. I think I might've gotten a flak 1
To bad that the stealth of this ship will make the video flew under most radar
That Fear&Hunger jumpscare really got me 0_0
I just started playing FTL myself for the first time so these videos help me for my *Very Official, Expert-Backed Opinion* (TM)
Oh yea, that’s me. The 100%, official, nothing incorrect, Opinionator!
Also, I’m glad you got that F&H bit ;)
Great Vid.
You're most likely correct about the DSR-12 being based off of Mass Effect's Normandy SR1/2, as the Normandy (in Mass Effect) is a prototype stealth ship created by Human-Alien co-operation, just as in FTL.
Gotcha, that’s good to know!
Was the SR-1 a stealth ship? Because I thought they only added the stealth features with the SR-2; which was made by just humanity.
First Cerberus, and then retrofitted by the Alliance.
@@VioletAeonSnowfield Nah, the SR-1 was stealth. That was Normandy's unique selling point in ME1. The SR-2 was also stealth, but Cerberus just doubled the size of like... everything when they built it.
I always wondered why they put camoflauge on the Stealth B and C. Desert camo in space!
I think Stealth B would blend in pretty well against an asteroid or moon. No accounting for Stealth C though 😂
I think the point of the overcharger drone+ is that is leaves enough room for another overcharger drone and a defense mark 2. It is the potential to be the nost impenetrable ship in the game, provided you're lucky
My first win ever was on a stealth cruiser. I got a teleporter, a Mantis and a Rock, and went HARD on upgrading engines. I only managed to get 3 layers of shields, but basically no one could ever hit me more than twice in a row anyway
Every ship is equal to me.
*Looks at the stealth cruiser*
But some are more equal than the others.
Wait till you see the Slug ships.
RAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH FTL IN THIS DAY AND AGE RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
At this time of day? At this time of year? Located entirely within yoir kitchen??
@@voicedmemes6251 ...Yes.
@@igotnoideas ...can I see it?
@@voicedmemes6251 ......no.
I got a weapon pre-igniter and a second Glaive beam on Stealth-B once. Completely shredded the game in two.
You become a silverpike in a small pond with that augment
2:56 Having your weapons downed right as your about to fire them pisses me off too lol
You understand my suffering man, it makes me go “jeepers” in an aggressive manner
Man, i know these ships aren't very good compared to the others in the game, but this line of ships has always been my favorite to play with
My favorite ship in the game is probably Stealth B
Kinda shocked to see the Stealth ship A placed anywhere but in the S-tier of ships. It's starting weapons although unassuming are pretty darn solid for the first few sectors due to their fast reload speed allowing them to end most combats before the other ship can even fire (thanks to stealth). It starts off with 2 augments, 1 of which can be sold for 40 scrap to grab shields even faster.
The only real weakness is early sector 1 or 2 drone ships which can output huge amounts of damage fast, but even then stealth buys you usually enough time to get weapons charged to disable their drone systems and finish the fight.
I'm like 99% sure the B variant was named after the SR-71 Blackbird.
‘A WW2 sniper’
You mean the deadliest Finn to ever live?
I would put the Stealth A in A tier and Stealth B in the lowest tier. I have a video on my channel of a hard difficulty run with Stealth A in which i never bought shields, and it was super fun. Stealth B on the other hand, even pro players with thousands of hours of experience can't do much better than 50% win rate in hard mode, and i think that's their lowest win percentage on any ship.
Stealth B is definitely the weakest ship, but ~50% win rate is very exaggerated. I'd estimate around 90% is possible, although personally I've never lost a game with it including a few shieldless runs (around 25 games total). Lifesaburrito has more convincing stats from grinding it a lot, and he got just under 90%. Of course this is talking about the best of the best, not merely average "pro" players.
Nah I don't want to sell the titanium casing
I wanna combine it with rock plating
Is it a good use of augment slots? No.
Is it stupid? Very.
But there is a very small chance I can negate all system AND hull damage. Get hit with a missile and go "nuh uh".
Based as hell
Good vid!
Thanks :)
Okay, but why specifically a starling? Do you have an issue with those in your area or something?
I opened the door, and it was a starling. They are fairly common.
It was not a bit, he somehow weaseled his way in and was freaking out.
We think I know how he got in, working to fix that.
I think you should have done it in order, but too late now
He did Human then Engi then the thing the Engi built for Humans.
"I love long range scanners!" Ah yes. I too love selling long range scanners!
To each their own!
If you sell them, you get 15 scrap. If you use them to find a single battle, you probably get more than that.
@honourabledoctoredwinmoria3126 a) not true at all b) opportunity cost. FTL is very much a bird in the hand game and being able to buy something now means not wasting runs to shops and giving you more time to explore sectors and get stronger for the flagship. We literally see this in the game's best players.
@@honourabledoctoredwinmoria3126
15 scrap in the hand is worth 30 scrap in the bush sometimes
@@blunderbus2695 I would agree, except that the bush is right there with long range scanners and more bushes keep coming. You don't need to wait for the payoff. It should be pretty immediate.
2:10 talking about hacking when you mean cloaking?
i have won several games with nesasio
Did you manage to get shields on it? I’ve never managed to do much without them
@@SamsSideshow i did yeah
Ah, nice. Without them, I haven’t any idea how it could survive one volley for the flagship’s weapons
@@SamsSideshow No. It needs shield. I think if a store sells systems, the shields will always be one of them for 125 scrap. The issue is many stores do not sell systems. I think you need shields by sector 5 or so, so there's a time limit and no guarantee of success.
But, man does it have fun weapons. I just wish it had four weapon slots.
@@SamsSideshow Like this, for example: czcams.com/video/0YleUNmJzmw/video.html
Beating the Flagship without shields mostly involves killing it fast. Not always a one-shot like that example though -- I only have those in about 1 in 3 of my shieldless wins. But just in general, shieldless runs work better when you build into strong offence, together with hacking + cloaking for safety.
you have too few subscribers man
True
lmao what
long range sensors suck, you avoid encounters you get no scrap
no scrap means no upgrades
no upgrades means no chance
Meanwhile titanium casing is basically a free 15% extra dodge that can't be ion'd like your cloak and engines.
I utilize the scanners to head right into all ship encounters I can, while avoiding asteroid fields. Believe me, I’m as greedy for scrap as I am for grape-nuts. With it, I can better plan jumps to save fuel.
Regarding the casing, fair enough. I never seem to have any luck with its activation, and die horribly
Scanners are super important on stealth ships to avoid hazards like asteroid fields or suns and they let you head into ship fights for better pathing.
Getting shields online is way more important the the 15% system damage you will
Ignore also it’s not on stealth B which is the ship that could use it the most.
some stealth ship guide bro doesnt know these ships start with a hidden stealth weapons mod lol
Enough of your mischief. They have no such innate modification, hidden or otherwise
Not true it’s just the beam weapons don’t take time away from your cloak.
