That slap fighting you watched is Power Slap. It was created by Dana White the UFC guy and it is looked down upon by other slap fighting competitions. The competitors should not be getting those types of injuries. Dana White purposely left out some rules for safety that all other competitions have to make it look more brutal, which it is. It's honestly very sad to see the sport getting tarnished because he decided not to keep the safety regulations to keep the competitors 'safe'. Now I'm not saying regular slap fighting isn't dangerous because it can still cause some damage, but it is nowhere near what happens in Power Slap.
