    Oh, nice, your video answered my question of building pressure with electrolysis, thanks.

    Does positive pressure impede the electrolysis process, and the production of HHO gas by creating an environment where the gas is not allowed to expand freely?
    Will extreme pressures cancel the electrolysis process and prevent the individual atoms from being “freed”?

  • @gordoncouger9648
    @gordoncouger9648 Před 2 lety +5

    Hydrogen can be ignited by the supersonic shock wave it makes when a valve is opened. If you are working with HOH in pipes it looks a lot like a detonation experiment. NASA has a bunch of stuff on Hydrogen safety. Goof luck.

  • @pyroactivatorandsensorydev9817

    what is the expansion rate upon combustion or is partial pressure affecting its combustion !? fuel has one in 8 i believe under one ATM .

    Pure hydrogen should be fine under pressure but Browns gas is said to be unstable under pressure, that's why it cant be safely bottled. IDK what that pressure limit is though. My hho torch runs about 1 psi above ambient I think .

    I see you answer one of the questions that how long it took and wasn’t bad that was a silly fast by any chance how hot or the temperature reached inside any idea ? Or do you think some steam helped the pressure ? Or pure hho

    • @HappyMadScientist
      @HappyMadScientist  Před rokem +1

      I didn’t measure temperature unfortunately. Temperature data would have definitely been super helpful for any thermodynamic calculations. Ahh well… next time 👍.
      It was definitely hot to the touch after I released the pressure though. However, steam would not be adding to the pressure imo because the boiling point of water at an absolute pressure of 400 psi is 445 F. It was nowhere close 445 F let alone 212F. So I think it was “pure” hydrogen and oxygen

    I've done a lot of pressure testing up to 20,000 psi and it can get exciting! lol How does the pressure affect the efficiency of hydrolysis? Have you tried degassing the water under high vacuum before starting electrolysis and how does that effect the efficiency?

    • @greghight954

      @TR-Labs yes, common in oil drilling equipment

    Don't need heat pressure does the heating, opening the valve too quickly will heat the nozzle exhaust significantly

    I believe we need 10,000psi in a Toyota Mirai hydrogen tank in order for it to work. Is this a realistic project for an offgrid home?

    • @HappyMadScientist
      @HappyMadScientist  Před 3 lety

      Probably 4150 chromoly steel. Though, I need to be cautious that what I use isn’t affected much by hydrogen embrittlement.

    I have tested my electrolyzer unfortunately it went kaboom!
    What happened was the terminal that I have used heat up due to high resistance it was consuming 70A at 12V and I let it go coz I wanted to find it's limits sure enough it did found it limits.
    last time when I checked the temperature of the terminal was 70°C pressure was 0.1bar it was a mixed gas O² & H².
    I wish I had a video of it I went deaf for 5min after the detonation that was super scary.

      No it is not safe to pressurize hydrogen. It is very dangerous.

      @@HappyMadScientist sorry but i mean coprass to tank
      Is it safe?
      I wonder to know the pure hydrogen is safe to camprass any compraser and what is the ways

    • @HappyMadScientist
      @HappyMadScientist  Před 3 lety

      It is very dangerous to pressurize even it is in tank. If it is pure hydrogen it would be less dangerous but if there is any oxygen in the hydrogen it makes it super dangerous.

    Did you really just compress a H2/O2 gas mixture? :O
    Just turning that ball valve could cause a spark. Omg.

    Hmm... this looks cool... im also working on pressurising hydrogen, but I decided to seperate them, using the method by diyscienceguy. My channel is called improvatech (I havent posted an update video in a while, the situation at the moment had me a little pre-occupied with life)

    • @HappyMadScientist
      @HappyMadScientist  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah Diyscienceguy’s way is defiantly the safer way to make and pressurize hydrogen gas. I do not intend to store the gasses which is the only way pressurizing the gasses mixed would be remotely sane.
      I watched a few of your videos. Very interesting!
