My stock looking 440 in my 68 Charger RT with 3.23 gearing and automatic, car looks 100% stock runs low 10's@132 mph with street tires! It's 9 second car or better if set up! But the car is restored to stock looking and this engine wasnt to be in it..My other one was but I blew it up and we put this in it! My other one runs low 11's with a mild 440 running 590 horsepower,660 ft lbs..just a 89 pump gas low compression mild cam monster! Yes LSX engines are great but leave it in a GM..

Yeah man, that is one SWEET looking (& sounding) '71 Chally R/T! But a windshield wiper delete? Are you kidding me? Hmmm, I guess it's never meant to be driven in the rain, haha. Great looking paint job (hopefully it's Mopar accurate), though I would have liked to see the chrome door handles left chrome & not painted the body color. The T/A scoop hood is a nice detail. I know that they only ever came stock on the '70 Challenger T/A (& flat black), but as a custom touch on this '71 & being gloss black - I have to say it looks REALLY good, & a good match to those cool aftermarket "vintage style" rims. All in all - yeah, I'd buy it. But I'd get those mechanical issues sorted first, ie: heater, A/C, fuel pump hum, WINSHIELD WIPERS, etc.

R K it would be best to yank that pile of crap out and replace it with a nice stock 727 torqueflight which then you can let it do all the work but you can also shift it as he is if you are wanting to run her hard so you have the best of both worlds.
This one probly has the 904 torqueflight in it now which even a stock built 904 would be fine as long as your not constantly racing it. The 704’s were used in the high performance small blocks as well as every big block that mopar built. Why anyone would put a manual valve body in that thing is beyond me.
If that body and floor/undercarriage is in as nice a shape as what the body appears to be then the price is a steal!! The prices on these, especially the 71’s, have been going thru the roof the past few years. If it is an original R/T then it’s pure gold, which someone probly just put that stripe kit on but it’s still worth looking at the numbers on, replace with a numbers matched engine and you can have a $100k car in a few years for $50k or less

Gearhead why? What is so fricken special about everyone on the Internet making a huge deal about cold start this and cold start that!!
Unless your troubleshooting certain problems an actual cold start is no fricken different than any other old start done whether you are naked with your Dunlop hanging to your toes or if the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders were Layed out across the entire top of the car, a start is a start is a start is a start!
And I am a formally trained mechanic with 40+ years of experience and the only time I have ever heard that word or phrase started a few years ago on the internet and I’m sure it was some beanstick millennial with coke bottom glasses on that thought 💭 it sounded cool to say around the couple of buddies that he rented on the weekends to make home look less nerdish cause there is absolutely no difference unless it’s really cold and it may turn a tad bit slower
God I wish I could have the last ten minutes of my life back to do over cause it sure wasn’t worth wasting it on so called “cold start” craze circling the Internet!!!!!

Nice car but somebody needs to change out that fuel pump cause it drives me crazy with that constant noise. Perhaps something simple like rubber mounts then bolt it back down to the frame.

If it was a real R/T I would have put it in the title and said it was. I never said it was but thanks for watching
