    Hi, I really enjoy every video you make. Just interested in you doing a video of your whole farm as in where you spread slurry every year since you bought the farm (is there blocks of land that get more slurry than other blocks of land) compared to further away fields or different types of soil/sandy soil and the difference sold or liquid manure has made to the farm/individual fields as less soil/sandy soil blowing away as you build up the nutrients and soil structure with the manure. Interested in you NPK status of your land and your PH of your land and how you balance this with lime, fertiliser and manure to get the best out of the great farm.

    That is an impressive mountain of bales. I had a friend hauling bales lay his semi on it’s side right in the hamlet of Golden Ridge. He was meeting an elderly couple in a motor home that were taking more than their share of road. He was almost at a stop when the back passenger set of wheels on the trailer went off the pavement and the truck just slowly laid on it’s side. A couple days later I overheard one of our crusty old truckers in the coffee shop saying “ All these farmers that think they are truckers. Any trucker knows when you are loaded you don’t give up the road for anyone! “ I had to admit he was right so if you are meeting a big rig and he is taking his fair share of road you know why. Thanks Jan.

  • @1striperon
    @1striperon Před 11 měsíci

    Great video, Jan. I would bet that you would look at a grapple to add to your big loader bucket so you could lift two bales at once, if you will bale 1,000 bales of straw every year. Saving some time. Nice job loading.

    • @1striperon
      @1striperon Před 11 měsíci

      @Jan--Kielstra- If your loader hydraulics are robust enough to handle a grapple, you can lift two bales from the sides. Put the cutting edge of the bucket on the ground, slide forward into the bales, then close the grapple on top. Yes, you’ll need enough wrap on the bales so they hold together, and maybe some extra weight on the back of the loader for balance. If available grapples are too sharp, you can always dull them or add padding. I’ve seen a 2” x 6” plank U-bolted across the grapple teeth to make a flat surface for squeezing and lifting, don’t know how that works or if it is needed.

    • @MellowYe77ow
      @MellowYe77ow Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@1striperon That's not Jan. It's a scambot. He's well aware of grapples. They have 2 wheel loaders. One of which has a grapple on it. That one stayed back at the farm, to unload the trucks, and to prepare the cattle feed.

    Would it be possible to install 4 PERMANENT lagoon agitators in the 4 corners to really get things stirring when you are removing liquid manure?
    I'm sure it would cost a pretty penny, but would negate the need to hire a lagoon crawler every year and have a more consistent manure/sand ratio when hauling.

      Rotting usually starts from the bottom -- the bottom bales absorb moisture from sitting on the ground, and that starts rotting.

      @@timothymbonham4453
      As he pointed out in the video, it is more likely to rot when you stack them than if you have single rows on the ground. The reason for that is because the water does not roll off of the bales onto the ground, it ends up going into the bales because it can't roll off.
