Sultan Murad (Metin Akdülger) learns that Kösem Sultan wanted to kill him. Valide Kösem Sultan, who learned that Sinan Pasha was a traitor, realizes that he has been exposed. Helpless corners. Bağdat’tan dönen Sultan Murad, aldığı savaş yaralarıyla iyice takatten düşer. Hastalığı iyice ilerleyen Sultan Murad yatağa düşer. Sultan Murad’ın vaziyetinin kötü olduğunu öğrenen Kösem Sultan oğlunun başında bekler. Ana oğul hasta yatağında hesaplaşır.

No matter how in love he was in Kosem he couldn't escape from his duty towards empire. But he did "that" with others unwillingly. In this scene you can feel his relief when Kosem shows up in his room. Sad, but true. Royals of those century were under enormous pressure to produce an ear to the throne.

Kosen is not thinking about the empire, but her desire, the most important role of a sultana is the wellbeing of her people and to Empire, the kingdom by allowing the sultan to has many children and control the haren, but she forgot her duties as a sultana!.
She was not technically a sultana yet. She had yet to have children so in a way, she was acting in the empire's interest by attempting to produce an heir.

That is when there is lack of older male presence living at one time. The princes didn't get a chance to actually see a grown with their father or grnadfather. Ahmet got into throne at such an impressionable age and these women are in competition to hang on the centre of power concentration.
