What’s Catch me if you can about?
Based on a true story, this classic movie directed by Steven Spielberg, tells the tale of Frank Abagnale Jr. (Leonardo DiCaprio), a young man who successfully managed by the age of 21 to con millions of dollars by pretending to be a Pan American World Airways pilot, a Georgia doctor, and a Louisiana parish prosecutor. Tracked for years by obsessed FBI Agent Carl Hanratty (Tom Hanks), the young mastermind was able to slip through his fingers multiple times, enjoying himself in the process. The con artist's foremost crime was check fraud which he carried out so expertly that by the end of the movie he gets recruited by the FBI to help them with check forgery cases.

The best part is that Carl really WAS telling the truth. Abagnale didn't even care that he got caught, the mere fact that someone was actually geniune to him was shocking. He was so used to lies and deceit that he coudldn't grasp the idea of honesty.
I may be remembering wrong but I recall there was nobody outside?
@@andarerYT as soon as they both left the factory, there was a moment of quiet and Abangale thought Carl lied, but immediately after dozens of police cars rushed out of nowhere and arrested him. Abangale realized then that carl told the truth.
Also, Abagnale played Carl the first time they met. Carl repays him by telling him the truth.
Also Carl didn't want Frank to check at the front door cause he know that Frank will think no one's there and run. If Frank do that, french police would shoot him down.
your mother is my honesty
Tom Hanks is a great actor but this is one of the many movies what made many of us ask "how the fuck didn't DiCaprio get an Oscar for this?"
What do you mean?
@@shmeepness1700 For all his many brilliant performances he's only won one Oscar
Because every time DiCaprio cranks out a great performance, someone else makes a masterpiece. He's just got bad fucking luck.
@@Rawen1982 what?? Leo? One oscar? Tf is wrong with the award ceremonies
He should have got an Oscar for few movies... got it for probably the worst one of his...
DiCaprio was robbed of the Oscar quite a few times I see. This man should have 3-4 Oscars already.
agreed
He should have had a dozen Oscars by now
Oscars are overrated honestly, they seldom reward amazing performances, its all politics
@@Babbolozada true that
he must have pissed someone off in power or had the wrong politics
It is amazing Frank realises that Carl wears a wedding ring in that rush! His “normal” life about to end but he is still so careful
His normal life was about to start. Dude became parano, he couldn't settle, he never enjoyed life as soon as the gap with authorities was getting closer, he left everyone and everything behind to start over so many time.
He needed that routine and the FBI offered him that routine. Sure in the movie he wasn't living big for that job but that was much more appreciated, we know it. In real life dude became fucking rich after his arrest so I guess it doesn't really matter lol
Yeah the real dude is a real gentle grampa. He is true wisdom and never like his teen action. He prefer living rightful as lawful citizen in peach
@Miles Doyle wtf does this have to do with the commentM
@@justpassingbye easier to live as a lawful citizen when you loaded.
Fun Fact:
Later on in this scene, the French cop who arrests Leonardo DiCaprio is Frank Abagnale Jr himself, who DiCaprio has portrayed in this movie.
For real? Like the cop is the main char?
@@sandeeepkiran1130 Yep
Wait, I don't get this
@@ashabd8125 So the move is based off of the life of Frank Abagnale Jr who is portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio. When DiCaprio who is acting as Abagnale is being arrested, he is arrested by the French Cop who is being played by Abagnale Jr.
Same thing happened at the end of wolf of wall Street
is it just me or does it really show how Frank was still just a child here when he asked "Do you swear?"
I guess when you have no other ways to read a person, ask him to swear and observe his reaction is a last-ditch effort.
We got a sherlock here.
@@bait5257 and a Watson
Daniel Day-Lewis in Gangs of New York was the best actor in a leading role that year.
Ye
Letting him cuff himself was a respectful way of admitting he couldn't catch him. Of admitting defeat. But it was also a suggestion for what his best option was.
It was respectful but he did catch him. It was Hank that reported him to the French police. At the end of the day, Hank won, no ifs ands or buts about it.
What the hell are you talking about? This is the scene he got caught! Giving him the handcuffs is a way to let him keep his dignity a bit. Admission of inability my ass.
Shut up stop trying to break this down
He had him. There was no escape for Abagnale, the only question was in what condition he was going to leave. Allowing him to cuff himself leaves him with all his dignity intact.
Leo portrayed mania like he knows how it really feels…I respect that because I also know how it feels. Something tells me that they didn’t spray him with water; he was truly sweating.
Probably not. You're just crazy lol
where do you get your ideas from?

@@gabe6475 Is that not what mania is?
@Miles Doyle wtf why create a religious bot
I met Frank while I was at school in Maine while he was speaking. He's quite fascinating.
Didn’t he just shill his book, every event of which has been proven to have never happened?
Until you find out everything he said was a lie and that he actually didnt do any of the things he said he had
That was Frank Lampard, the english dude with low self esteem
That's good, that's good
keep pushing that lie till you make it true
tf is happening in the comments
The film depicts Carl as genuinely caring for Frank. However rumor has it that the US government didn’t want Frank just because he made a jerk out of all the banks he robbed but because the wanted Frank to show the US how good he really was. It was just a matter of time before Frank 2.0 would hit the streets. The government wanted to be ready if that happened. If Frank was dead, it would be quite hard.
Do you know the true story about Frank Abagnale ? The real Frank was in jail as a teen , so he never did any of these things and made up the entire story . Frank has finally been outed .
@@user-tu6qz5iv8i…for doing everything in the movie, that’s literally his teen year
The real Frank said there are several officers who he said “can be a Carl” but he won’t say the whole institution is a Carl, and leave it at that.

2 of the greatest actors of all time
THANK YOU! I have been saying for years, _YEARS_ ,that Tom Hanks is ONE of the greatest actors of the modern age! Leonardo is pretty fucking top notch too!
Just two of the most popular but not the greatest. Duval, Pacino, Lewis, Oldman, etc are far better.
@@whatareyoulookingat908 the fact that you didn't mention Brando mildly offends me
Yeah, also Franks Father is good actor too.
Anthony Hopkins is up there.
The mere fact he trusted him, solely his trust was more to him than being arrested, for being told the truth was greater to him than continuing to run. A humble way to end his own illegal life
Notice how Carl doesn’t say anything when he is made to swear on his daughter, he completely poker faced frank and finally got him back for the first stunt he pulled on Carl at the hotel resort.
In a way I think Carl learned more than he’d care to admit off of frank.
He wasn't bluffing. The French police really were waiting for them around the block.
@@jasondean1634 oh no, I didn’t mean he was bluffing about the police actually being there but the concept that they were just going to shoot him on site.

I can watch this movie over and over again, and it is like I haven't seen it before. Amazing, just amazing. Still wondering how Leo didn't get an oscar for this one.
Yep the movie doesn't get old, not one bit! Can watch it over and over again as well!
Still upset he dosnt get back with Brenda
this scene should've easily won an Oscar that year for both Leo and Tom... incredible acting
I personally think that this is one of Spielberg’s finest, and judging by the incredible energy, fun and depth young Leo put in his portrayal of Frank, it’s a shame he and Spielberg haven’t made another one together and astounding he got snubbed at the 2003 Oscars.
DiCaprio acting in this scene is phenomenal, what an actor!!
This movie is sooo good! One of the best I ever seen. I remember the first time watching it. Leo is such a legend
Best part of this scene is how genuinely happy Frank is to see Carl.
when both of them are your most fav character, what more can u expect from a movie!
0:14 the paper falling on his head makes this even better
This just makes me want to watch this movie again.
My husband and I watched this in an old cinema in Plymouth, (UK), on our honeymoon. It was a weekday and we were the only two people in that room! Was fantastic! We live up in the north west highlands and we couldn’t go abroad for a honeymoon as I was pregnant and pretty ill with it, so we went to Cornwall. Anyway, this film always brings back good memories of a February in 2003 and our own cinema show!
Could have gotten away, what a shame. Carl took his revenge finally.
How could he have gotten away? The cops were out there
@@donovankhorashadi1758 No cop was out there, cops were on their way. Carl lied. Carl stalled him as long as possible and made him give up based on a lie. Could have gotten away before any cop showed up if not to waste any time with Carl and bought into his lie.
@@aerohk No cap. Called him too ...which proved they were waiting
NO police men were there outside waiting
@@aerohk Sure there were. They were just around the corner waiting to come when he came out. You all are really bad at watching movies.

This movie is a masterpiece in my eyes
While incarcerated they treated him worse than a murderer for crimes of finance, he was lucky to be extradited and given a second chance at life
French prison at that time were as old as the revolution
He knew he wasn't lying. He kept making him repeat it because he needed to convince himself it was over.

I just finished this film and this movie was suspenseful as well as emotional. From the divorce, the cons, his father’s death and him finding his mom. This movie was extremely heartbreaking and gut wrenching, I literally cried when he found out his father died and his mother started a new family.
He was just a kid who wanted his family back and running from his problems (mentally and physically, literally) was an escape from that. I’m sure when he saw Carl enter the factory, he wanted Carl to help bring his family back to him. 🥲🥲 I could sympathize with Frank through his whole journey and why he did it. (This movie is my new favorite, hands down)
The real Frank , made up the entire story .
Tom: you really did a good job... Inside the movie and outside the movie.
This movie is better when you don’t know Abagnale made every fucking thing up and none of it even vaguely happened.
Spielberg is a master a genius. Di Caprio should have won an Oscar for this
That "yeah" was more like "you're only a kid frank"

I feel so sorry for Frank, sure he broke the law but that doesn’t justify the fact that Carl spent the whole film mentally breaking him.

What are you talking about about? Hens doing his job. How do you catch someone thats supremely confident? You make him mess up and second guess.
He was posing as an acting surgeon, pilot, and whatnot. He was dangerous and irresponsible beyond recognition, and it took a great detective like Carl with a competent team and hard work behind it to put him down. It took them way too long.
