Yes, every child on the spectrum is different, they may hit those milestones at different ages, but let me assure you everything is going to be ok!

I felt the same way. I thought my baby would never respond to his name or answer questions. My boy just turned 6 and he's speaking so much! ABA is a God send! I pray you hear your baby's words soon 🙏🏽❤
I was non verbal until the age of 5 or 6
I'm praying everyday that my four years old could start to say some words some day soon and I believe God 🙏 will help him

I dont mean to eavesdrop but your comment was directly beneath mine and I saw it. I promise you he will. My son only made sounds at 4 years old. No words. Then one day when he was 6 we were doing flash cards. I would hold up a card and say what it was on the card. And out of the blue My boy pointed at a card and called out "pizza!!" I swear after that day i couldnt get him to stop talking. lol. Be patient, Keep working with him every single day. And never lose faith. My son is 23 and still has a speech impediment. He will talk your ear off though. And 99.9 % its most likely your son will talk as long as you encourage him and respect the pace to wich he is comfortable with. Trying to hard and being forceful might be traumatic for him and delay hus speaking.

There is one boy in the Philippines he never spoke during younger years but now he talks, his mom and him has a youtube channel and doing well. The reason why he talks now because of all his therapist and early intervention.

My son aged 4, has been diagnosed with autism. We are giving him OT and can able to see good improvements in him . Now he replies me for 1 or 2 questions. This video gives me hope that my son will soon speak sentences .
This is so wonderful and it gives me hope. I can’t wait to see my baby girl talk. She is 2 and non-verbal but she is communicating in other ways, like the way your son did. She would take my hands and try to get me to do things for her. She makes throat sounds, airplane sounds and even sounds that mimics words like “all done” or momma but I don’t know how meaningful they are or whether she understands the association, but I’m happy she is trying. I talk to her constantly and narrate as much as possible in simple words. This is going to be a long journey but it will be worth it in the end! Praying for all the parents reading this. We can do this! Patience, love and determination!

Maybe your child just can't speak.That can be upsetting but trying everyday to get them to speak is very stressful.trust me I get it at school .if your going to continue tying to get your child to speak that's good but just please try to keep in mind how upsetting it can be to see someone not happy with who you are.Best of luck❤

the waiting game that you talked about in the beginning is what I'm going through right now. I have received a call from certain offices that are 2 hours away and I'm this close to just driving there myself on Monday to get things going. I'm so anxious but seeing Dylan and his families growth has really reassured me that everything is going to be ok.

@Meda Melody wilson you child does say they love you. Just not in a way you understand. I love is in inviting you to take part in their interests. If they line up toys and want you to join, that's more 'I love you'than words will get you. Join their world. It's a lot harder for them to join your world than you to join theirs.
Thank you for making these videos. My Daughter was diagnosed Januray this year, she is now 2 and a half, watching your videos and I cant help but relate and am genuinely relieved people feel and felt the same. It has been hard but I have never felt so accomplished when she does something new or we teach her a new skill. I wouldn't change her for the world.

Just like to say, you have done a great job not only with your children but even with this video , iv seen many videos on CZcams and find it really hard to see one that has both great explanation and visual images of the unique challenges he has faced, thank you for sharing your experiences and advice.
alot of people don't realise what a spectrum really means, every child on the spectrum is different. I found it interesting to hear your challenges with teeth brushing... my daughters challenge was not getting her to brush teeth, she actually learnt at 2.5yrs how to brush her own teeth but ever since that day she obsessed to the point of, around 10 times per day she needed to brush her teeth and will brush for about 10mins each time, if I was to try transition her to something else then she would meltdown.
I just had my daughters diagnosis today and they have confirmed she is level 2 autism, and I cried with relief to finally know that yes, "I'm not 'crazy' to think" something isn't 'neurotypical' about my amazing child. I look forward to the unique journey of watching my daughter grow up and help her through the hurdles of her life.

I think videos like this one are so wonderful. My son has autism he is 23 now. Back when He was diagnosed (after about 20 different hearing vision and diagnostic exams came up empty) I was terrified. And there was no You Tube or Social media fore to reach out to. Brain Balance was still in its infancy and beyond expensive. I wish I had this type of reassurance when We were going through the phases of learning and acceptance that take place in every autistic childs life. Well done.
Glenna Bowman video was very informative. I have a 24 year old who had Asperger's syndrome ADHD.HE is very gifted complex young man. He didn't get diagnosed until age 9. He was speech delayed. He had speech therapy, he also learned from community counseling.I so glad he finally got diagnosed after 5 years. I am proud of the progress that he has made. Thank God he made away for my to get help.He is going to college working on his second degree.

We use an iPad during haircuts and we see a hair stylist at her home so it's quiet. My son just chills out watching videos sitting on momma's lap while the lady cuts his hair. We're very lucky!

Hi Tara.. my son has turned 4 now. It has been almost two years since his diagnosis and therapies. My son has come so far and I am so proud. Communication is still a struggle though . He has only few words right now and I would love to hear a complete sentence from him. Your video assures me that one day he will get there. Thank you for this.

You spoke my life literally.
We have 4 kids. Our ASD 4 yr old is our 3rd child. Man was he a game changer. 😂 we noticed very early on from about 4 months onwards. He didn't meet his milestones, which we had referrals for. But the biggest signs that were obvious at the time and not hindsight was him staring into black curtains, wouldn't eye contact, he would look the other way. He also wouldn't sleep unless he fell asleep on his playmat on his own. Then he was delayed in his speech. First word was around 9 months (dad) then didn't say it again for about 3 months. Then didn't say mum till 18months (boy did I cry like a baby!!!) Then wouldn't say it for 3 months. And so on with each word. Couldn't stand his hair being washed (took me and daddy to do it). Just some early signs. And once he could roll onto his belly, he would always roll to his belly and rock like a frog 😂 arms and legs go in, arms and legs go out. Wasn't diagnosed until 3.5yrs. By then it got more 'obvious' to everyone who knew him.. a diagnosis was such a relief. At about 6 months old he was a promiment lefty which isn't generally until school age they choose.. my asd boy has made me such a better mum, more patience and understanding and even just more love.. and understanding his love for simple things in life, like laying down on pavers in the pouring rain.. or his obsession of windmills. Oh windmills.. he doesn't cope making pitstops in the car, he's very A-z kind of kid. No stops. And anytime we stop, no matter where we are.. 'gotta go find windmills mum' over and over and over again 😂😂😂

Good mom, boy is lucky. Born in middle of last century when autistic children were labeled infantile schizophrenic technically, my family label's shy, quiet, aloof, loner, very impatient/difficult. Mom's favorites, "you make everything hard for yourself" and "son its just you", yet decades later I understand was me plus many more Autistics. Yet, my loving Italian family thought me intelligent, willing to sit quietly alone, easy to entertain but family business came first, expected to work efficiently, zero tolerance for laziness or screwing up, combined with endless patients from Mum, endless! I survived by learning world's cruel ways without dependence on friends, networking, connecting with others ever! Happy Autistics have learned the art of solitary contentment, expecting very little from others, at mostly their loss ~~

Thank you for sharing.. You honestly don't know how much this helps! We're just starting our journey, but you don't know how much you've helped me already. Every vid I watch, I see my daughter more and more. It's extremely eerie seeing my daughter's behaviours expressed by another child. So many similarities! She's 3.5 and currently non-verbal, with loads of quirks and ticks.. the happiest most beautiful girl in the world. Not formally diagnosed yet, but it's almost 100% she will be. The small town we were in (Qld, Aus) wouldn't listen to me about my concerns regarding her development. At least 9 different doctors, nurses and midwives fobbed me off.. Gave me excuse after excuse and one even blamed me for talking for my daughter, so I moved us all 300km to the city so I could get help. (My poor health being a very close runner up as a deciding factor). Now hopefully we can get her the support she needs.
I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my soul for sharing and helping so many understand they're not alone, it's going to be ok, and we all can get just as overwhelmed (if not more so some days) as our special little ones. I still can get over all the similarities with their oddities 😂🥰

Tara, you are one of the best parts of my sunday morning. We are so far away but so much alike, from the writing down what he did at therapy, to lol feeling bad if people dont tell him hi! My daughter didn't say a word at that age now she's 4 and just a couple months ago she yelled "ready set Go" I nearly had
A heart attack. That same week she started saying her abc, counting, can name every animal, body part. All sorts of stuff. So happy. Dr. Said she would never speak. We didn't do anything special just loved her talked to her A lot. She's singing Baby Shark right now.

IM NOT A MUM BUT my little sister is 3, im 19 so I feel like her mother and while I live at home I get more and more concerned for her, we almost always knew she was "different" and we talked about autism (with my mum) but I think neither of us want to accept. there was some family events that might have caused it, the environment she was growing up in was not the healthiest. im very happy listening to your story understanding that my sister is making progress, she is completely potty trained, thank God, she eats quite well, she pretend plays and is very creative, but she also has communication problems, we blame it on the duo lingual household but she obviously has communication issues, she says a few words like potty or I finished eating, but otherwise if she wants somethings and can't say she will take my hand and show me thank God for that also. The biggest problem we face right now is constant tantrums at absolutely anything, if she does not want to do something, even if she does start doing it she will throw herself on the ground and scream non stop, impossible to calm her down, she's learnt the words "go away" so she says that every time she throws a tantrum. its very stressful and were unsure how to communicate with her. this usually happens during bed time, used to when we went outside and didn't go in the car, still does it when we don't go the way she thought. hopefully someone can relate to this, she seems like a naughty child from the outside but she also does things like closing her ears and jumps, she hates brushing/cutting her hair and brushing her teeth, she likes to spend time alone and doesn't get along with any kids, even our younger sister. maybe someone has any advice?

Awesome video. My son is 3.5 year old non verbal but communication is coming on well he will bring me items he wants or hands he will grab mine. He can say three words. My parents are great with him he will stay over night. He use to hate his teeth clean but he ok now. Hair cut we not done yet. I know he love us and his smile is like wonderful. My 3yo Mathias was diagnosed a week after his birthday. A year ago he began taking taking us around the house by our hands. He lost his eye contact at 13 months and gained it back at 2 and a half. These factors give us hope considering he is non-verbal mostly. He says momma and dada however we don't know if it's him stimming or using the words functionally. Seeing where you've come from with Dylan gives my husband and I so much hope for our son. Thanks sweetie

I love how you said they might not be able to say they love you but they do. It is so true, my son learned to say it by copying and that was okay for me. Now he can say it spontaneously and give me a cuddle which melts my heart everytime. He might or might not now what love is but he definitely know it is something good, something that makes us both happy and smile and that is all that matters.
It really is.. and our children do love us they just sometimes can’t express them selves x

I'm so happy that i found your video, gives me a lots of tips how to handle my 3 years and 8 months non verbal autism son. My son just got diagnosed with autism its actually a bit late when we found out cause I'm a 1st time mom as well and i did not pay more attention with my son development until he turned 3 years old. his signs is pretty much the same as your son this give me more hope that he can still communicate verbally. He speaks few words mostly when his watching nursery song, his also counting 1-10 now but the pronunciation is not that clear. I was so emotional last week cause for the 1st time he called me mama😊😭

Thank you for your stories. My daughter who is now 8 has always had speech problems and had to get speech therapy for like 5 years. She is finally done. She has always been shy and does not approach kids and will interact only if you initiate play.
She is bright and active but around the house we have to most of the time ask her if she needs anything or she won't say. She says a few words to us or family even though she can read and write. Anyhow the alarming part is for the last 7 weeks she makes facial gestures and talks and laughs on her own. We are getting her tested but worried. Does she have autism perhaps?
