Hey. I have three kids with special needs, including twin 5-year-olds, one with autism and one...we haven't figured him out yet. I haven't scream-cried alone in my car in almost a week. That's pretty good for me. Thank you for saying "It will be okay." It helps to hear that.

You’re not alone! Find your village cry when you need to and do something for YOU! That’s the hardest part taking care of yourself when you know your child needs you 24/7 ❤❤

I fell into a hole, I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety, I got referred to a psychiatrist, who taught me the lightbulb moment of “I had forgotten myself”, and the importance of self-care, Me-Time, and finding something to do that was meaningful for myself, that was for me. Yes, I had two out of three boys diagnosed with autism, they will always have autism, but I have to let them move forward in their lives, just like I have to move forward in my life. So, working was out of the question, with two lots of therapies, paediatrician visits, a lot of full-on high needs attention when they get home from their special disability school at 3pm... so, I’ve gone back to university, online, part time, for those school hours just to be devoted to me and my interests. I’m basically re-designing My life, so that I can be there for them, and do something meaningful for myself.
So, my message of the day is: we learn how to care for our kids, but we don’t learn how to care for ourselves, and sometimes we need some professional “prodding”. Go see a therapist, for those struggling with life. It helped me turn around, and enjoy my boys more, enjoy life more.

My husband went to Madrid for couple of days and my son kept asking “Daddy coming?” And I didn’t know a best way to how to explain when was he coming. I told him “ he is in the airplane” and “daddy coming soon” as my son had travel by airplane before so just trying to use something that makes sense for him. But I will try an story line. It's a daily struggle. You won't get it right everyday or even every hour. Cry, make mistakes, apologize. Take time alone whenever you can It's necessary parents. It's natural to say why, and I wish I wish but you are where you are your child will always be what they are. Hard to accept, letting go of what is normal and acceptable and routine and perfect and what a child should be doing is A REQUIREMENT❤ and keeping up with people that understand and can relate is vital and keeps the disappointment at bay. One minute at a time❤ we will be okay and our children will be too✨️

Hi Tara, I think I’ve only commented once before on Dylan’s birthday video (how was his big day? I hope he had fun 🙂) my son’s gonna 5 in June and we are waiting for an assessment for ASD. The school psychologist thinks he might be on the spectrum. Yusuf always exhibited some signs but to my limited knowledge at the time he was under 2 I never thought they were something alarming, I always thought every child is unique and that’s his way. Of course being an only child and not having another one to compare him to was another reason maybe.. anyway I just wanted to say thank you to you and your lovely family 💞 it helps a lot seeing you and how you approach things. And yes I agree with you our little ones are amazing just the way they are. I know you have a lot on your plate already but it would be great if there’s a Facebook group page for your followers, this way we could make an online community and share our experiences and support each other too.

I always say these same thing to my Jack "I adore you". He's 4 and was diagnosed in January. As difficult as he can be, he's perfectly himself and I would never change him either. ❤❤❤❤

It's so had for me, I have cardiomyopathy only 25 to 30% of my heart work, my son just got diagnosed with the spectrum I was devastated 😭 even though I'm married I don't have any help, I try to hide my feeling they say ask for help but anytime I do is a issue so I do everything by my self. Only with the strength of God I get through everything.

How do you get your autistic child to do things like clean his room? Or do his homework? How do you know what you need to “make” him do?

Sometimes she hates other people who have such a normal life! The worst thing is not my sons autism but to see that she is sad !

Thank you for sharing 😊. I just wanted to ask, what techniques do you use with Dylan for regulating his emotions? Things seem so hard right now. Everything with Dylan is a meltdown, triggers huge anxiety. Even his safe and familiar places are triggering these responses. His aggression has increased and it just feels we can’t do anything or go anywhere anymore with him or as a family. He frustrates me so much and I get so cross with him. I get cross with autism, SPD and PDA. My partner and I are arguing all the time, always frustrated with each other. It’s just a mess x

hey there i feel you i really do. In my last vidoes i talk about what i do to help dylans anxieties. Its tough and not easy hormones do make it a lot harder. You really need to take care of you and your relationship. its so hard i do get it .. getting out with dylan is so hard as well sometimes we battle through but now i am also looking for a one to one career to come to the house once on a saturday morning so we ( myself andrew and the two little ones ) can do some "normal family" activies. it wont always be this way. what age is your son? x

I know it may seem that way but when I had dylan we had nothing. I had no family around me and I had no money. That’s why I say if you can connect with a mama who has a child on the spectrum too like my beautiful friend Ayan who I got talking too at a specialist play Center . I’m not sure which country you are in but is there any government support? Or local special needs charities ? We have one here where mums and dads who have children who have grown up and are on the spectrum donate an hour or two of their time to come and help others ? Maybe you could look in to this? Sending hugs your doing an amazing job it’s not easy I know. X
