Gorgeous. The tiling in tenement closes are exquisite. Ta
I'm lad that you enjoyed it. I totally agree. The old tiling that you get in these old closes is all to often beautiful.
I live in a tenement building in Falkirk have been here for 11 yrs great neighborhood I can sit at my bay window and watch the world go by .....better than watching TV we still have the old outside toilets in the close and a wash hoose with Belfast sinks in the communal gardens which I keep neat and tidy bottom 2 flats are now Airbnb let's so I see strangers everyday some colourful folk that use the flats for escort work whatever floats there boat ⛵
Yeah, tenement life can certainly be interesting.
This was as you say a posh dwelling. Most tenements had no inside toilet or bathing facilities and all laundry was done elsewhere so this house was not a working class residence which the vast majority of tenements were in the early 20th century. Still an interesting trip back in time and good video. Thank you.
Yeah, it certainly wasn’t the sort of tenement flat that my mum grew up in in Govan. I do wonder if there is anywhere in Glasgow, where you can see what a working class tenement flat was like. I’m glad that you enjoyed the view though.
Enjoyed the visit…another interesting step back in time. I seem to remember hearing that the lady who was a seamstress lived there her whole life.
Your tour was the next best thing to visiting in person. Thanks Claire.
Yeah, she was a seamstress. They actually had a couple of the things that she had made on display. I'm glad that you enjoyed the video.
I remember my aunt telling me she visited this house many years ago and I have always been intrigued about it so I was pleased to get a wee peek through your video and hope to visit soon.
I’m glad that you enjoyed the video. It’s a great wee place to visit, and the staff are really knowledgeable.
I remember reading the story about the old lady that used to live there a few years ago, quite interesting. Reminds me a lot of Billy Connelly as he was always telling story’s about tenement life. Must put this on my to do list. 👍🏼
It's definitely worth a visit, especially if you're interested in Glasgow's history.
