- #WomanInAction: Today, December 16, is the first year anniversary of Typhoon Odette.
With its rapid intensification from being a Category 1 typhoon to a Category 5 super typhoon overnight, Odette ravaged homes, towns and even entire islands in Visayas and Mindanao, displacing more than 500,000 families.
Odette is said to be the 2nd costliest typhoon in Philippine history, just behind Yolanda.
Here is a look at the newly-inaugurated Siargao Sports Complex that was supposed to be the locals' evacuation center. One year later, it still looks the same.

Natawa lang ako dun sa walang goverment..anong goverment ba local o national..kasi nung panahon ng bagyo nayan na byahe kami ng surigao madaming mga ibat ibang lugar na LGU ang tumulong sa surigao city..kung jan sa siargao siguro nga wala kasi tatawid kapa ng dagat maka punta jan.. habang na byahe nga kami pa surigao start cabadbaran madami kaming nadaanan na ibat ibang sasakyan na galing ibang LGU at mga heavy equipment na naka lagay Davao City or karatig province.. d lang naman siargao ang tinamaan ng bagyo na yan kundi LVM..mas matindi pa nga ang sinapit ng Dinagat Island jan..

Ms Gretchen can I suggest to the government ,since our country is most visited by natural disaster ,why can’t they built a place in each barangay a solid ,sturdy and an earthquake building ,a condo type just to be used only When needed,Kaysa bumili k ng temporary tent and toilet ,why not build a place ,a permanent place,mas mura.
Its easy to be enchanted by the influx of tourism and the dream lifestyle but the infrastructure problems, disaster response, educational situation had to be in the national consciousness
