Our exploration of the island continues as we dive deeper into its tumultuous history and ongoing efforts to maintain peace. After our eye-opening visit to Al-Barka, we're on the move to uncover more about this remarkable island.
Our journey continues into the towns of Tipo-Tipo, Sumisip, and Maluso; unveiling the island's hidden treasures and discovering potential future tourist hotspots.
And in this episode, we'll be having inspiring conversations with the future of Basilan -- young leaders who are starting to take their power and voice, in an effort to move away from the culture of violence that has plagued their province for decades.
With me on this trip is veteran conflict journalist Ed Lingao and his wife Esther, who not only co-wrote these episodes with me, but also brought along with them laptops and solar lamp donations, as part of The Laptop Project in honor of their late daughter Ellie.
With all the incredible experiences we've gathered, we remain hopeful that peace will endure, paving the way for a brighter future for Basilan. - Zábava

This makes me very nostalgic. Nagpupuyat ako nung college on Monday nights paraa manood ng The Correspondents. Ed Lingao was my favorite documentarist. Malumanay, matalinghaga at makahulugan magsalita. An awesome story teller.

Good job, WIA for presenting the 180 degree change in Basilian. Kudos to the young and upcoming leaders of the province. Education, good governance, faith in God is the key to progress. A lot of sacrifice and selfless service is to be emulated. I grew up in Mindanao in the 70’s until I left for college in the 80’. Basilan was crippled with fear and a place avoided due to its violence and distrust in the government. Now living in the States, I look forward to visit JOLO, SULU and BASILAN in one of my homecoming trips.
