To be fair, trainspotting’s set in edinburgh and non-scottish people have generally found that accent easier to grasp in my experience

@@b16gav75 I think the accent isn't as thick, or a different kind of thickness that's easier to understand.
As a Glaswegian, I can tell you I had difficulty reading the dialogue in Irvine Welsh novels. To be fair, I reckon I'd have a similar problem if it were Glaswegian slang/dialect too but at least I'd be more familiar with the words and phrases.
