Jay, you should write to Arai to have them make you a custom fitting Arai helmet that fits your head properly and proper protection for your chin.
+TheSighBored Jay just likes to wear his helmet like Guy Martin.
I just tried tilting it back like that and it just doesn't fit the top of my head that way. How do they breathe with their mouth and nose in the foam?
"wow, I went through a puddle and didn't get electrocuted !!!" lol
Beautiful bike. I've seen a lot of electric supersport bikes showing off their thing here on CZcams (Zero Motorcycles, Agni Z2, Mavizen TTX02). And so far the Mission-R has got to be THE best out of the bunch. I love the styling, and it looks like it could perform very well. I'd definitely buy one of these.
Hey Jay, you are the man when it comes to motor stuff. I think that people really like what and how you can connect with others about what-ever you are talking about.
Thanks for doing a small cameo in my BIKERS PARADISE 2012 video at the Rock Store last summer. I'll stay tuned for more from Jay's Garage. Ride safe and peice out.
Yes the head is terrific! Gotta love the chin!
His chin is so freakin big, its sticks out of the helmet :) 14:30
saibabax that's cause all that money he has in his wallet weighs it down
it's actually Jay's chin that's making all the wind noise heard in the video 😂
hahaha good one
yepp mega chin :D
imagine if he and reese witherspoon had a child XDDDDDD
great videos Jay...keep 'em coming...we love 'em....
That is seriously awesome. I have never heard of anything like this before. It sounds like an electric RC car. I want one NOW!
What I would like to see something similar to like a Honda Shadow / Goldwing full electric bike, that would be nice.
Here, here
or something similar to a Harley Trike...in electric...
And practical! A touring bike with 500+ mile range would be pretty cool. Something like that isn’t overly concerned about weight, size and performance so it should be doable.
Alfred: Will you be wanting the batpod, sir?
Bruce: In the middle of the day Alfred? Not very subtle.
Alfred: The lamborghini then........Much more subtle.
very very cool. I am sketchy about bikes over cars but this I would love like Jay did. I can see this being a great ride everytime.
Awesome! I have got to get me one of these!
Andddd they're out of business
+macroevolve I know, I own one :)
As do I!! :)
Zachary Brown cause of two things!, weight, and cost
Are there any electric bikes on the horizon these days (2018) ?
Zero seems promising. Not a sport-type, but still an all electric 1-speed bike. Developed by former NASA guy which makes it cooler.
70000 Dolar bike costs the same as a Tesla Model S car. Too expensive but I would love to have one
Thanks for that clearance of information, you explained that better then I have read, so now even I understand it.
There would still be vibration from imperfections in the road surface, but you're right about the lack of vibration from the internals of the bike itself. I just love the sound it makes too, sounds like a TIE fighter or a pod racer whizzing along.
TRON THAT WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE A LIGHT CYCEL
Michael Demetriou ; was thinking the same thing add neon and away ya go.
thought the same thing..very cool!
cheeky italian 2 smoker in the background there (aprilia rs 125)
noticed that too. i have one myself and it was surprising to see it in jays garage. especially since i thought two strokes were illegal in america
Jay Leno you are the best !! big fan
thanks Jay! Appreciate being a voice for change bro!
This company had great potential. It's too bad they went bankrupt, apparently thanks to Apple. I believe if they were acquired by Tesla or any other electric car company, that would've saved them.
Francis Mendy Tesla will never make motorcycles.
This company unfortunately went BK in 2015, Hope they start back up in the future.
This is AWESOME.!!
LOVE THE SOUND! ITS VERY FUTURISTIC!
The Tesla of motorcycles.
You say that like it's a bad thing! It isn't.
Marc Resto I don't think I said it like it's a bad thing. I think the Tesla S is the greatest car of my generation.
I stand corrected. My apologies.
yes it is ...and happy that we will get more cool bikes like that
Why dont they make a hybrid bike? gas and electric???
Galileo Gasilectric
They don't make a hybrid because it would weigh as much as a small car.
I've always thought of a turbine motor electric bike
kinda cool vehicle without annoying noise! really love it.
Looks great!
You'd think for $30,000 it would have self cancelling turn signals.
It's usual for bikes to not have this, it just doesn't work.
personally i would never get a electric motorcycle. i ride bikes to hear the engine scream at me and that's how my bike and i connect to each other.
I really want one of these, this sound is just amazing
very nice to have an environmentally friendly vehicle, and give room, right decision for our children to grandchildren
Too expensive unfortunately. They have to make this actually affordable
amazing piece of machinery
I actually like the way it sounds, especially flying by. Though I also like the whine of a supercharger.
Jay, that bike would look good in your collection!
That's really nice, Amazing.
Awesome. Too cool.
Got one for you, Jay. Pierre Terblanche designed an electric motorcycle with BST, they gave him a free hand. His finished prototype is "if it doesn't need to be there, it's not there". Anything that adds excess weight is gone. He states this is an "urban assault machine". Electric bikes have to have a sound generator. For Pierre's bike he chose the ME-262. Other riders will clear the streets to avoid embarrassment.
I LOVE THE SOUND IT MAKES
14:30 This helmet fits perfectly!
I wonder if there is any data that supports the claim "loud pipes save lives"? Awesome bike btw. I want one in dirt bike configuration.
i like it... awesome bike!
Amazing!!!
Modestly priced electric scooters are practical in inner city traffic. And they are fun to drive. You may not feel exactly like Blade Runner, as Jay suggested, but zipping around town without noise, vibrations or smelly fumes makes for a futuristic experience. And pulling away faster than anyone else after a red light stop is an added bonus.
im really looking forward for this company to grow ....ev motorcycle thats awesome
Thats what I'm talking about I love the sound of that motor bike. It sounds like a jet how wonderful is that?
Such a SEXY bike. Electric drive is the way of the future.. you've seen it right here happening before our very eyes :)
Agreed. Also, from a racing standpoint, electric vehicle competition brings back the technological innovation from year to year that those of us who are over 40 remember used to be the norm in "traditional" combustion-engine racing which now is largely regulated to keep costs and speeds down and to maintain parity between makes. We remember when a company could produce a better, faster vehicle and win everything, which is happening again with electric racing.
I think I like this better than topgear
This is why people love Jay Leno. Always pushing the envelope in whatever he's doing. Keep on, Jay
Although this is a very interesting concept, and I actually really like it, I couldn't drive it everyday just because of the fact that the bike doesn't make any noise. When I'm on my bike, part of the kick I get out of driving and accelerating is in the sound my bike makes, gearing up or down.. But it's a cool bike tho, thanks a lot Jay, for all the work yo uput in that channel ! Been following for a few weeks, addicted to that channel now, love you !
Well, it's 9 years later now in 2021, but I really like everything about this bike. When Jay first hit the road that whine made me think of the Tron movie. And 160 hp. I see they're still in business.
It would be nice to see stuff like this on the road too. Here in Cincinnati, there's nothing but Harleys (don't like em but who cares)
Clean And Nice
You have much to learn!
I would love to just hang out in Jay's garage and watch his guys just wrench on his various projects...
very cool.
like it a lot..
I like the sound of it
Absolutely Jay! Amazing Talk and Test about Electric Vehicles... Test an "Austin" soon...
oh my word, what IDIOT would revive the name Austin!! certainly no 1 that ever owned an ambassador (or a metro) they were soo bad that I remember Rover (leyland) dropped the name after the merger decades ago...

J: "there's no noise!"
Bike: WOOOOAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIHHHHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!
That marketing guy did a good job on presentation and answering Jays questions, unlike some of the "top dogs" in other Jay Lenos Garage videos like the Toyota FRS, and the Abarth guy.
I have been riding/owning bikes for over 20 years. Living in the southern US now, I have given up riding because of the heat an ICE bike throws off. I will buy this if available soon. I own a Volt now and the torque in that is amazing. I could only imagine what this bike will do and with no extra HEAT! Until you drive/ride an electric vehicle, you really should reserve comments, especially negative ones.
Very nice guys.
as i said i don't know anything about bikes i let my friend fix them and give me tips on which ones to buy. But that Italy trip, I never felt something like it!!! it was one of the worst workouts i ever had but it was totally worth it!! the beautiful nature
I would love to have one to get to work with .. wow nice.
Looked like Leno was wearing a 3/4 helmet; holy crap he has a huge chin! Would be cool if Tesla picked them up. I think I would miss the sweet sound of a M4 Slip-On exhaust; that sound gets my adrenaline going! But I guess that instant torque would be a cool rush too.
@Alex Recupero, I don't play with the tachometer while I'm riding but I do look at them because I wanted to see how fast am I going. I never said anything about playing with my tachometer while riding. What I did instead was that a tablet as a tachometer could be potentially hard to see and also hard to use under the sun with gloves on.
I like it!
Shifting is a part of the fun of having a bike!
Beautiful bike and pests ding design.
the mirrors fit perfec. they look really good
Fantastic
the neatest part about an electric motor is it's fight with magnatism. to get to speed.they make a different kind of torque. they pull so hard on startup.I met a really brillant guy about 25 years ago who figured out how to put a Boeing jet starter into Masda.it ran so fast but the battery tech and weight really just made it a good idea with minimal results
I have been riding the zero around las vegas and have been designing an elecrtric motorcycle. i keep seeing a wind generator in the windsheild position. perhaps charging an extra battery. i dont know if the extra weight would justify the amount of charge but if a charge could be maintained range would not be an issue.Remember, it's always windy on a motorcycle
That's awesome! Since it's a electric one, I wonder if other car drivers or pedestrians can notice or not when a rider pass through. Another thing is that it doesn't have transmission, the throttle control would be delicate to control the speed.
Thanks for the honest review Jay:)
"It's not going to take away from internal combustion stuff, it's just another facet of racing, and the nice thing is, you get a whole new level of 'Geek' guys interested in racing who weren't interested in racing before. So, to me, anything that promotes motorcycling, be it electric, two-stroke, four-stroke, whatever it is, I think it's fantastic."
wow really nice electric bike
Good for the summer not bad for the winter
With the font and color of the R and the frame color It made me think it was a RC8 almost.
Bike has a very nice clean look!
Loud pipes don't safe lives in my opinion especially in the big cities full of noise pollution anyway Learning how to ride/drive safely is what saves lives, both Cagers and motorcyclist!!
I was riding on Skyline Blvd in San Bruno Friday ! Cool...
Great electric bike. 🙏👍🙏✌️🌞😎
beautiful machine like a walk with her to the beach.
I agree it needs a transmission! Brammo has a transmission in there Empulse R, and they state the problems from using just one speed. You have to sacrifice top speed or acceleration, just like a scooter with one gear.
Yupp, and real easy with that monster torch!
Thanks I STAND CORRECTED! I appreciate the fact checking & info - I still think big petrol companies r shaking in their boots over electric vehicles as they should. No matter though, I will own & operate an electric motorcycle soon I hope!
That's exactly what I was thinking about. You've probably seen hubless wheels and I'd integrate in electric engine (let's say a combination of MAGLEV principle and AC engine with permanent magnet on the outer spinning part of wheel as rotor and inner engine coil as stator). So the wheel would actually be an engine itself and when replacing tire, you could swap whole engine with it - no special tools needed, just disconnecting few wires and wheel mounts...
An electric bike would work for me for the most part but at 70mpg, i spend maybe $5 a week so it’s not exactly a priority atm.. i also like being able to put 2-300 miles on it on a nice day without thinking about range. Engine sounds are also just so satisfying lol
How dose it do in the rain ? I live R. I. and some riding in New York. And the price is little to high to just have for riding around on weekends.
Nice looking bike too.
Goodness that Garage I’d get a sleeping bag and snore 😴 with all the vehicles 😱
i can't wait for it. would be awesome if thy put some gears on it though.
Pretty awesome
This show is the true representation of new technological hypercar, sportcars, and sportbikes. Just about every vehicle out there with a motor in it. Yet nobody has invented a helmet with an appropriate chin size for this man.
So sick
that thing sounds amazing. Better than the usual sport bikes i hear and (dont kill me) CERTAINLY better thanthe ducatis I know of.
That's awesome. Hopefully there will be affordable electric sportbikes before I die/can't ride anymore.
I'd assume in production like cars you would he able to choose an engine noise that is emanated from speakers so as to give the effect
Would Def help with safety
I thought the silence would be an issue too, before I took delivery of my Model 3, but it hasn’t been an issue at all.
The bike is so quiet you can hear the merc's exhaust from the bikes go-pro. What a great bike.
It sounds like a subway car, love it
Remember when you were a kid and fastened playing cards to your spokes on your bicycle to give it that motorcycle sound. That's what that electric bike needs.
