    I just installed the door sills a few days ago on my 2022 XSE hatchback. Used the template and everything, came out looking like from the factory. Toyota should have made this a standard on the XSE.

      agree these should be standard. they do class up the interior a lot

    I have ordered metal ones too, for my wife’s Mazda C-X3, they are quite rigid, but, the surface of the sill is slightly curved, so to make them more malleable during the application, they suggest ‘warming’ them to help activate the adhesive and it also helps them fit the curve, of course the surface in all 3M adhesive applications should be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol for maximum adhesion.

      yes, definitely clean the surface with alcohol for best adhesion.

    No idea why this isn't standard on all new corolla's now. But great video, about to install these in the next few mins.

    Did your vehicle not come with door sill protectors?
    If not, what I would have done is once you've found the "sweet spot" for installation is mark both sides with a white crayon (since you have red paint)
    Install the guards and then wipe off the crayon.
    That is what I'm going to do if the ones that I'm going to replace on my 2010 Corolla and not the exact same size

    Do these rub at all on the under side of the door when you close it- or is there plenty of clearance? And any concerns about water getting underneath, or perhaps sand that might scratch the paint under?
    I'm thinking of buying a set of these for my 2019 Corolla, for protection and they look sharp!

      i have not checked under the doors, but i don't hear anything, and they look good and clean (no scratches), so i'm assuming it's all good. this is a toyota part, so i doubt they would make a mistake like this (of course you never know)

    I think this “protector” is more for looks if anything. How often is your foot actually contracting that little 2 inch sill area?

    • @omgautos

      In the front, it's not about stepping on that area, but grazing with your shoes as you get in and out. In the back, my daughter constantly stands on the door sills.

    Would you recommend buying these?I just ordered a ‘22 Corolla hatch from the dealer and asked to have these installed. The sales guy warned me against them due to the sill protectors apparently collecting water underneath and accelerating the formation of rust. He also said that there have been numerous customer complaints of the doors rubbing on the protectors when opening/closing causing scratches. Have you experienced this at all?

    • @omgautos
      @omgautos  Před 2 lety +1

      i like them a lot. i've had not issues with mine rubbing

      @Alim B. sills on a corolla would get destroyed from daily use
